This was actually one of my fav of the Princess lodges, not sure how many they own but of the 3 we visited this was a good spot, probably because it was near civilization and we weren’t giving all our money to them! The lodge itself is mirror to the others we went to… same souvenirs, food, snacks etc but clearly different excursions. Sad to know they close the fitness center for the season, why? Or… is that the same sign always? Don’t think I would book this particular lodge if we decided to visit Fairbanks again. Overall, the stay and accommodations were reasonable…


Mehhh... just ok. 

The bed & pillows comfy.  Rooms very dated.  The property very limited for trails & outdoors.  Staff not very friendly.  The food in the pub type restaurant not good at all.  Stayed here as part of a Princess land/cruise tour and you are nickel & dime for all kinds of little things; bike rentals, downtown Fairbanks shuttle, etc.

Very disappointing 

We stayed here for three nights as part of a cruise tour through princess cruises. It's an older lodge, but it was pretty clean. Beds were comfortable. I was very disappointed that there was no complimentary coffee at any time for the guests. You had to buy it in the gift shop. It was good coffee, but I've never stayed in a hotel that did not have complimentary coffee in the lobby pretty much at all times. The staff was very nice and helpful so no issues there. Unless you walk into town, which is about 2 miles away, or you take the shuttle that you have to pay for, or get an Uber or a taxi, your options for food are only right there at the hotel, and they are not cheap. An hourly hotel shuttle would have been extremely helpful. It's a nice place to stay, and the price per night was not bad, but unless you have your own car your options are very slim for getting around.

Pleasant place to stay, but secluded.

We spent 2 nights here. Arrived 10pm first night. We are on a Priness cruise tour,  10 land and 7 sea days. We thought the breakfasts were great. Lots of berries, hot food on the buffet were Ok . The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel was on the river with a nice view. This was the start of our Cruise Tour. The hotel was OK , nothing great not thing bad. Our Princess excursions the next day Riverboat were great. We were not here for the Hotel but fir Alaska. 

 

Nice stay in Fairbanks 

We booked a Princess Cruise Tour and the Fairbanks Lodge was our first stop.  Our room (1200) was large with a love seat, tv cabinet with three drawers, a settee bench, king size bed, desk and chair.  The bathroom was small, and it was evident that this lodge had been around a while. The water pressure in the shower was poor. The room was air conditioned.  There were places in the room that could have used a bit of dusting, but it wasn't a big deal to us.  Our room overlooked a walkway and the river.  There is a nice bar and restaurant overlooking the river.  The food and drinks were good. They have awesome salads and the cod sandwich was very good!  They could have used some music at the outside bar as there was no atmosphere at all.   The front desk provided distilled water for CPAP machines upon request.  We stayed at the hotel three nights and the vending machine, outside our room was mostly empty when we arrived, and it was still that way when we checked out.  There is a concierge desk to help you plan any activities and we found the ladies working at the desk very friendly and helpful.  There is a shuttle bus that will take you into town for $10.00 per person.  I would rank the Fairbanks lodge as four out of the four we visited, with number one being the best. 
 

Comfortable Enough for Three Nights!

This hotel is the worst place I’ve ever been to. We got here after a 24 hour traveling day and what are you know the rooms are 90° and they’re ugly dirty stinky everything I could think of. I hated it. My family hated it. The food was so mean everywhere around there was ugly Fairbanks and nowhere to eat never go to Fairbanks ever with your family. It’s so worse never go to this hotel there’s the manager is a karen they don’t care about anybody else’s hotel room and our room was 90° and they didn’t do anything about it and then the woman at the front desk for a bunch of losers. She didn’t know how to help us And when we left there’s a bunch of Karen’s waiting outside trying to get on the bus first while my old grandparents were trying to get on the bus and overall never go to this place it’s the worst OK never 

This place was the worst hotel ever never go there eve trust me it’s horrible please it will ruin your trip

Nice hotel and the staff was pleasant.  Our room was not ready at check in, had to wait over an hour. The restaurant was a real disappointment. Staff was nice but poorly managed. The dinning room was cold and had to wear jackets to eat. Breakfast was the worst. The food was cold to match the room and they did not replace items until they ran out and with a line of people waiting. The coffee was the worst I had in a long time. Food service needs a lot of improvement. 

Poorly managed kitchen and dining experience 

This stay was part of a package with Princess Cruises. Great lodge, very comfortable but that was it. As the lodge is way out of town you are compelled to eat there. At this time we were told there was 15 - 45 minute wait at both restaurants. To our surprise the restaurant, when we were eventually seated, was half empty and it took us over an hour to receive our meals. I did question the supervisor who advised me that they only had half the kitchen staff on as other workers were waiting for their visas. Get your act together Princess, super organised with tours and buses etc but visitors don’t want to wait 90 minutes to eat at best, mediocre food.

Great place to stay, don’t eat there!

This was my first stop on an Alaskan adventure.  The lodge was clean and neat.  Staff were helpful and very nice.  Would have loved more time there but we were on a tight schedule the first day.  Recommend the lodge.

Nice esperience

Princess Fairbanks Riverside Lodge - On arrival at Fairbanks Airport, Princess has a very efficient system with hotel room already pre-checked & luggage collection service. We were given a prepared envelope with a welcome letter, required covid test instructions, room keys, luggage tags for forwarding to hotel transfers or direct-to-ship tags, & any other necessary information. 
Arriving at Fairbanks Princess Riverside Lodge, the 3 story building looks very nice. Upon entering the hotel interior & the hotel room itself, you wouldn't think this a Princess tourist destination. Being on many Princess cruises, FPRL is disappointing from what we have come to expect from Princess standards. Rooms are very comfortable - standard size hotel room was clean, but are very basic. Bathroom has a small sink & vanity counter. Camode & bath tub (with a very, very low shower head) in a separate room. Water pressure & temperatures very good, however hot-cold controls reversed. 
Room lighting basic. Beds comfortable with nice warm bedding. TV with many channels.
Downstairs there's a gift shop selling souvenirs, sundries, limited snacks, soda & water (not cheap). Note: no other nearby stores/shops - you're a 'captured audience' for bottled water.
Very limited dining options - a bar/grill (soup, salad, sandwiches) Or a dinner buffet. FPRL is located in a very remote location. Only other nearby developed property is Pike's Landing Hotel (about a 10-15 min walk) with a good restaurant having much better offerings.
One word of caution, there are no safes in the rooms. Front desk has "safety deposit boxes" (no charge), but if you're concerned about truly securing your valuables, you should be aware of their "unsecure procedure". They bring out a plastic deposit box with no locking mechanism to you. After you place your valuables inside, the attendant will then take it all into a back room where you are not allowed. They say they will place it in a locked safety deposit box & then come back out to give you the key. For me this procedure is extremely sketchy as the chain of custody is broken when the box/key is taken/used out of your sight. I find this whole issue very disappointing as a Princess member/passenger, since Princess has a policy that prohibits cashing personal or bank-to-you checks anywhere at their accommodations or later onboard ship. I constantly receive all these email promotional casino offers from Princess (as we love to play in the ships casinos). We are not comfortable with leaving unsecured valuables back in the hotel room while venturing out. So they expect us to carry all this cash on us everywhere we go (prior to sailing) to their landtour accommodations & excursions or even venturing on our own - and especially concerning is that we're in locations that are foreign to us. If you don't carry very much cash on these trips, this may probably not concern you. But for me, this is not an assuring situation.

NOTE: We have recently heard from other co-travelers and read on social media... many other negative reviews/complaints from Princess customers regarding the land accommodations at all of these Lodges (not just FPRL). Probably we've all come to have too much high expectations from the Princess brand.
