I don't usually expect much on a overnight stay on the way to out destination, but this experience definitely raised the bad.  Wonderful staff, spotless accommodations, comfortable bed and 4 comfortable pillow. and quiet.   This will be the stopping part on our trip from now on.

Pleasant surprise

Great little hotel, the staff was very accommodating and friendly. The room was spotless. The breakfast was lacking. They only serve cereal. Would have at least had pastries or some fruit. Great overall experience, I would stay here again!

Great Experience

Was impressed, comfy beds, helpful staff, great location next to Billy the kudos museum, which is closed on Sundays. Gazebo which is nice when no smokets are nearby. Highly recommend this place. Also nice snack bag when you leave. Nice size rooms, bathrooms a bit small.

Nice and clean

Lengthy check-in.   I felt the price was too high for what I was getting.  Nothing to do with the motel but there are very few places to dine in Fort Sumner.  If you are interested in having a drink at a bar, there are none.  

Overnight stay

This is the only national hotel chain in Fort Sumner.  I stay here every couple of years while visiting family.  It's a clean and comfortable place to sleep and stash your stuff while out exploring or visiting the area.

Nothing fancy but it gets the job done.

Almost the only place to stay in Fort Sumner

Being that I’m a former employee of the Santa Rosa super eight front desk crew. I was very surprised that in the little tiny town in Fort Sumner, the hotel would be much more clean and just better all the way around. It looks like the person that’s running It actually knows what they’re doing and they don’t have to have Jenny Hearne come in every five minutes of every day. It looks like their housekeepers take pride in cleaning the hotel. I was working the 3 to 11 shift for close to a year and the people that own it are not good to their employees. They like a bunch of druggies working for them so that they don’t have to pay them any money and anytime there’s anything wrong with one of the rooms or the hotels they don’t pay attention they just push it to the side  so when I saw the hotel in Fort Sumner and the difference is compared to the one in Santa Rosa I was really surprised you can tell they take pride in their place ! 

Nice place

Zero breakfast. A bag with capri sun, crackers, a package of 3 powdered donuts. No hot water, internet doesn’t work , no vending machines, so that means no ice, drinks ect. There is nothing around so you’re on your own. Construction material everywhere. For over sized vehicles parking is in back of hotel. Unfortunately there are also residence live in mobile homes. We came out to our semi truck back end half under water. So if your in a car /truck ect don’t park in the back of the hotel. They irrigated and so whole back of hotel was flooded. But , I repeat do not stay there. 

DONT STAY HERE

Nice exterior, beware of the public area carpet. Nice comfy beds. Vending machineswere empty, had to stick with drinking tap water throughout the evening, and nothing to snack on. No clerk to Thank you at check-out.

Get Your rest, be careful getting to your room though.

We were just passing through, but I wanted to see Basque Redondo Memorial just outside of town and we arrived in the evening so really had to find a place to stay overnight. In Fort Sumner it looked like there were a couple of run down non-chain motels and then a Super 8. It looked like we really had to choose Super 8 as the least bad of the choices. We have not had a great experience other times at a Super 8 and this one is no exception.  The room price was quite high for this class of hotel and in an out-of-the-way town. The entire hotel had a musty smell to it. Our room had a table with a broken leg and the bed sagged in the middle.  We brought a bottle of wine to each have a glass in our room (no restaurant in town with alcohol), except there was only one paper coffee cup in the room. I went down to the lobby to see if I could get a couple of glasses or cups and there was no one staffing the lobby. I had to look outside to find the guy running the front desk. They only had a few styrofoam cups at the lobby juice machine. We had to settle for that. The room had a little coffee maker but only one packet of decaf, so no coffee in our room the next morning, besides no coffee cups anyway. Provided breakfast was a paper bag with an apple, crackers and mini-donuts.  NO, I don't recommend staying here.

Overpriced at $95 per night.

Breakfast is to-go bags with banana, juice, sweet roll, crackers.  The ice machine was broke - they provided very small bags of ice.  The room was nice - table with 2 chairs, good A/C, comfy bed, clean bathroom.
