We went on the 1 to 5 launch yesterday 9/16/23. I've been fishing Mille Lacs for 45 years. This is by far the worst launch my husband have been on. I'm basing that on the two people helping on the launch only bring two depth weights for over 20 guests. I don't expect the launch bathroom to be super clean, but I do expect it to be usable. It definitely had not been maintained/picked up in a whole. Be more organized, no excuses not to bring enough depth weights for over 20 people. We tipped the boat employee's, but you need to do better. We will not go on another Twin Pines launch again. 

Staff, and Food very good. Launch not so much. 

First time stay. You can’t beat the owners and Staff. First class all the way. Food was outstanding. Rooms were clean and no issues. We would definitely stay here again. Great location to see area attractions. Thanks Linda, Bill, Terri, Denise & Bailey !!!  

Mille Lacs Lake Memories

TWIN PINES RESORT.

Sometimes, I leave the boat at home and take the wife and kids on a launch. I noticed the prices jumped up a bit but everything else seems to be doing the same so I paid for 4 seats.

The first thing the Captain says is "We have a choice, we can catch some walleye or we can go to a different location and catch a bunch of fish". Nearly everyone had a puzzled look on their face but choose walleye. The Captain then says, I kid you not "Well it doesn't matter what some of you people think, its my boat".

We park right on Garrison Reef, 4 ft of water (in the middle of the summer). Ok, I guess this is a bass charter all of a sudden.

I go to grab some bait. All he has the smallest pan fish leeches I've ever seen., I mean these things were not even a quarter inch. At this point I got pretty frustrated, as was the Dad next to me who I heard complaining to his wife.

You pay 45 bucks per seat, they advertise it to be a walleye charter, they mislead customers and then tell them they don't care what they think, and on top of that, are too cheap to even get you appropriate bait.

Do not give these people your money, unless you like being ripped off.

Horrible New Management

We were hungry for breakfast so we decided to stop by Twin Pines Resort Garrison MN today Saturday around 11am. Bad decision!
It took about 45 minutes to get our breakfast. We asked the status of our order with our waitress and another waitress. We were assured “it’s coming”.
When it finally arrived I told our waitress it took far too long. The menu said something about “doing right by our customers”. The owner stopped by  and I told her it took far too long. She apologized for the wait and explained last week it could have taken an hour; hard to get help and a big order for 10 guys on the deck were the problem. Nothing about “doing right” by us for the long wait. Comping our breakfast would have been a good start. So much for “making it right”!
Won’t be back!  That’s right by us!

Great food, terribly looooooong wait for it!

Very nice somewhat dated resort and motel right off the highway.  Affordable.  The room was rustic, roomy, and very clean.  Fishing trips are offered on the lake daily.  The restaurant downstairs offers phenomenal breakfasts at low cost.   The woman who manages the property was friendly, helpful and efficient.   I expected the resort to be secluded and woodsy,  which it isn’t,  but overall, was a positive experience

the shanty was old and tired for the money, NO FISH AT ALL. They blamed it on ice conditions, low-pressure front.
Ice fog, the yetti, bad juju. 6 guys caught a total of 4 small bait size perch all weekend. I had live bait in the water 24/7 for 3 days, and nothing. NEVER GOING BACK

They have the best food here. Especially their breakfast. Great staff.  Also love that they have outdoor seating with a view of the lake.  Clean.   They also have a hotel and little cabins and a fishing launch service.    The owner is awesome 

Awesome Food

First I will say I have never written a bad review about a property.  Why?  I am in the travel business and always give the manager/owner a chance to fix an issue if there is one to be fixed.  That being said I was traveling through the area and booked the most basic room at the Twin Pines Resort.  My expectations were not out of line.  Just wanted a clean room and a hot shower.  My plan was to get up at 5:00 am and get on the road by 5:30 am. I fought with the shower for 10 minutes trying to get some hot water.  Then tried the sink.  No luck and no hot water.  I didn't want to bother anyone that early in the AM so I went on my way.  About 3 hours later I thought I should call and at least let the manager know my experience.  I called, left a message and asked that someone call me back.  I never heard from anyone. Sad.  The lady was very pleasant that checked me in I had hoped they would call and at least offer me an apology.

Where is the hot water?

After driving past this roadside gem a few times, my twin brother and I planned a guys fishing weekend here with his two young sons and one of our best friends. It was exactly what we were hoping for!
I love that this place is not trying to be a fancy resort; it’s the perfect combo of comfort, and rustic fishing lodge. We stayed in one of the suites on top of the restaurant. It was a lot nicer than I was expecting it to be, and the view of the lake was gorgeous! They’ve done a nice job of renovating the room enough where it is clean and relaxing, but keeping the identity of the old building. Is it the newest suite I’ve ever booked? Nope, and that was perfect for what we wanted for the weekend. The suite was very large. Two beds as well as two hide-a-bed sofas. A full kitchen with a stove and kitchen table — we could have prepared our own meals if we felt so inclined. 
Twin Pines also offers cabins on site, if you do not want to stay in the motel rooms, or if your group is too large for a standard room. 
The restaurant is awesome. The best breakfasts I’ve had in a long time.
We are already planning our next trip, and can’t wait to stay here again! 

Cozy getaway with spectacular lake views!

I’ve driven by this place a million times and always thought it looked like a great spot to eat and stay. So, when the time came to book a place for a guys weekend up North the decision was easy.
From start to finish, Twin Pines exceeded all expectations. 
Our room was spacious, clean, and offered a fantastic view of the water. They were equipped with cable TVs (important when you have young kids with!), full kitchens and a large living area to hang out in when your kids are going to bed.
The restaurant at the base was everything you hope for from a northern cafe. Additionally, throughout the booking process, the staff was friendly and helpful.
I plan to be a frequent patron of the Twin Pines and will highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay on Mille Lacs.
