For the person asking if the hotel is open, I do not think it is due to renovations. You can keep calling, but a few weeks ago it looked like they were gutting the place and doing an overhaul. I have to write 200 words for this review to be accepted, so I will add the pool has not had water all season. The hair salon has been open that is located in the end unit of the motel.

Does anyone know if the Sleepy Bear Motel is still open? I have been trying to call for weeks now to book a room and the phone is out of order. We stayed there a year ago and really enjoyed the hotel. It has great prices, a great location and it's nice and clean.

I was a bit nervous coming into Gatlinburg and the only thing available was a few motels but if I must say, sleepy bear motel is a gem 💎 in the middle of Gatlinburg. It is very clean, beds are comfy and the refrigerator actually get your drinks cold and it is in walking distance of a few restaurants, I would recommend this hotel any day. It is a reasonable price as well. The only downside is it’s a bit loud but nothing earplugs can’t help with or melatonin. We brought our on breakfast and the staff are friendly and kind. we will be staying here again! 🥞 You will not be disappointed!!! ❤️👍👏

Our son plays travel soccer and we were here for a soccer tournament. Normally we stay at the Vista hotel.

My husband & I have been staying at Sleepy Bear Motel for years because it's always clean, comfortable, and peaceful.
We love to get a room along the creek side.  The trolley stop is very convenient. Now, it's nothing fancy, but with this motel, you will be guaranteed a good night sleep in a clean room. Very friendly staff just makes it even better!

We needed a place to stay close to Rocky Top Sports World. We had room #152. The room was renovated - new carpet, bathroom update, sheets were new, refrigerator, microwave, and the best customer service provided by Mrs. Patty! We would stay here again. We spent three nights- December 2-5, 2022. Mrs. Patty gave us tips needed about seeing the Christmas parade- just the best ! Thank you for three good nights of rest ! Price was reasonable, too!

Perfect Location

Very peaceful little hotel nice balconies overlooking the stream. Staff was very polite, could use updated but everything works and room is very clean. A nice lil retreat off the beaten path. Recommend to anyone looking for a quiet spot

Nice lil motel

You never know what you're going to get when you enter into one of these old, independent roadside motels. It could be a disaster or it could be a good find. Luckily, Sleepy Bear falls into the latter. It appears to be family run and you have to call a number to check in, but they are nearby and come out in a minute or two. The rooms are clean and modern. I could not have asked for anything more out of a motel room. The backs of many of the rooms open up to a porch with a stream out back, which was a nice plus. You can walk to the main Gatlinburg stretch from here, but I wouldn't recommend it. It is a little far. The trolley does run up this way, which is helpful. There are decent breakfast/dessert places across the street that make for a good start or end to the day. Looking at rates online, it made it seem like many of the Gatlinburg hotels were full, but upon arrival, many were not crowded, including this one. I'd say it was maybe 20% occupied and I probably could've received a better rate by walking in. That's more of a booking site issue, but just something to keep in mind.

Excellent Motel Option

We were in serious need of a new place to stay as the one we booked was terrible! We called Sleepy Bear very late at night and she stayed in the office to help us out. This will be my go-to when I need a place to stay on future trips. Beds were so comfortable.

Very Clean with Great Customer Service

We made a quick trip to Gatlinburg for the weekend. No plans, no reservations. Arrived late Friday evening due to traf ddg ic on I-40. Called several we had stayed at before all full. Drove past The Sleepy Bear and asked my wife to try this one. We checked in with a lovely lady. Very welcoming and friendly. The rooms were very clean and neat. Looked like a fresh coat of paint. We had a second floor unit and had a beautiful view of the river from our balcony. The only complaint I would have is the bed was a little to hard for us. We will be back to this place for sure. Next time will bring my egg create to make it "just right"

Best little hideout in Gatlinburg 

You get to watch the ducks on the terrace it is a great place to stay. Very friendly and clean. It is close to town and their is a grocery store right above the motel and a restaurant right across the street tgat has really good food
