We had planned on staying at this location but a week prior to our arrival we both came down with COVID.  We called and cancelled, being told we did not need a cancellation number as it would be fine.  A week after we were supposed to be there, our credit card was charged.  We called them for a refund and they said that was not possible.  He said his computer system could not find us, even though we had a reservation confirmation number, but yet we were still charged.  He told us to call our bank to get a refund. Seems pretty shady to us.

Poor Business Practices…..watch out for a scam!

My son and I stayed here in late Sept., for one night.  Unfortunately, I forgot to ask whether we could stay on the first floor or if they had an elevator for the second floor.  Our room was on the second floor, and my bad knees had difficulty climbing the (very long) steps to the second floor.  We were winded and in need a a drink of water, so I sent my son out to get some ice for us.  Unfortunately, there was NO ice machine on the second floor.   We called the front desk and he informed us that there was ice available, but only if we came back down to the first floor...The room was ok, but didn't appear to be as clean as we expected.  A good vacuuming would have helped, and the room phone was totally gross---it looked like it hadn't been wiped down for a  very long time.   On the plus side, the young man at the front desk was very pleasant and courteous.  Basically, this place just needs some sprucing up.

Pleasant staff, but in need of some TLC

If you want a fair price, a good clean room, continental breakfast, then this place is for you.  All staff was wonderful during our stay.  It was quiet despite being near the freeway.  Good choices for breakfast.

A goo deal.

Price is right. Good morning breakfast. The front desk manager is great. Very friendly atmosphere and is well kept up. The highway is close but the rooms are very quiet, didn't hear a thing. Rooms are clean as well as the common area. Bed's are just righ

Great value

We just spent two nights here.  It was clean and quite adequate for the price.  Staff was helpful and there was a warm.breakfast.  It's convenient location right off the highway is also close to the business district.

A good deal

The room was nice, had some dust above the mirror and the bathroom sink stopper was broken. It was kind of like staying in a third world country motel, an upscale one at that. The bed was comfortable, didn't notice any urine stains. I got a good nights sleep. It's a bargain for the price. There's a Burger King right next door and the high way is easily accessible. Subway is next door also. Breakfast was so so, had some juice, that was all.

A Cheap Stay

I chose this hotel because I was traveling with my dog, and the other hotels in the Gaylord, MI area did not allow pets. The good news is that the fee for my dog was $10.00. The bad news is that the hotel had several issues I found to be of concern.

The first thing I noticed was that the outside doors were open to the public with no keypad for locked entry. This hotel is directly located near the entrance to Rt. 75 and has a lot of traffic through this area. It was alarming to me that anyone could enter the hotel day or night with no issue whatsoever. The room door had a deadbolt, but no additional lock at the top of the door to prevent entry. 

Cleanliness was another area of concern. Although I saw no bugs in the room, I did see a large number of ants in the hallway. Although the sheets appeared to have been laundered, there were visible urine stains on the sheets. The towels also looked dingy and dirty, and I did not feel comfortable using them. The bed was uncomfortable, as were the pillows. There were no tissues provided and only 1 very tiny bar of soap. The room had a strange odor, and the walls were so thin that I could hear every word coming from the TV in the adjoining room. 

Even though this hotel is “pet friendly”, there are no outdoor trash cans or bags to pick up dog waste. Most pet friendly hotels provide both of these items to help keep the hotel grounds clean.

I was so anxious to leave the room that I departed very early and did not eat breakfast, so I am unable to comment on that amenity.

There are enough issues with this hotel, that I strongly recommend searching for another location to stay at. I certainly will not be staying there again!!

Dog Friendly, but Lacking in Cleanliness

DONT STAY HERE!! This place was dirty and smelled the plumbing didn't work towel holders were broke and no help from the front desk and the owner was no help I give it a 1 because you can't go lower on here...

The worst!

Was planning to give this hotel five stars, but have to mark it down one due to some odd interactions with front desk staff (who seemed very annoyed to have to provide basic customer service). The hotel itself was fine however when we arrived for breakfast a half hour before advertised end time it was mostly gone.  Maybe it was just a bad day. The price was OK, and the room clean and comfortable. No elevator however for second story rooms.

The inter state highway was closed because of blizzard conditions on Feb 24, 2019. Only hotel available was Americans Best Value Inn. 
I am giving it TWO because it was better then sleeping in the car. But what a tired property. Owners haven’t spent any $ on that property for years! 
Here are my issues:
1. First rooms smelt like smoke.
2. First room didn’t have a phone.
3. Second room had old linens, mattresses and box spring.
4. PTAC unit had no knobs so you couldn’t control setting.
5. Sheets were stained and hair in bed. Didn’t want to switch again. Made do.
6. Door didn’t have safety bar. 
7. Noticed the cigarette burn marks on the tub.
8. Light bulbs burnt out not replaced. 
9. There is more, point is this property needs TLC and $. 

If it wasn’t for the blizzard I would of never ever of stayed here. I paid $77 plus tax for this hotel when I was at the Holiday Inn Express in a different city for $89 plus tax, with breakfast. 

Hope this helps in picking a hotel. Also hopes that ownership reads this and start to address a very tired property.
