So needs a good deep clean.  The house is a lovely old building and whilst the hosts were very kind the place needs a deep clean.  The dust on lights, mirrors etc is hard to miss.  Someone else’s hair on the supposedly clean towels .  The lighting needs updating and the bAck garden could do with some work.

Plus side is it’s within walking distance from the centre of town and near to eating places.
I wish I could have written a better review but this place needs help !

Needs a really good clean

It was quaint and a great location but the cleanliness  was something to desire. The breakfast area looked like the table clothe hadn’t been changed in a few days. Our room had dust bunnies all over the floor. The bathroom had towels on the floor as rugs.

Quaint but not the cleanest.

This quaint bed-and-breakfast is ideally situated in historic, downtown Gettysburg, near many sites and events. It is also the perfect location if you are visiting Gettysburg College. If you are vegan, vegetarian or need gluten-free food, this is the perfect place! We are vegetarian, and the host made us the most phenomenal breakfast with plant-based meat and eggs. Cozy accommodations with a private en suite bathroom. Has all the charm of a historic BnB. A must visit if you’re in Gettysburg.

Beautiful B-n-B in the heart of historic downtown Gettysburg (with GREAT options for vegans & vegetarians)

This is my favor place to stay.  Everyone in our group of 8 loved the place.  We were there with a real grumpy couple but we made the best of it, also with a really nice couple.  Gail is great, really friendly and accommodating.  She did accommodate  my husbands celiac disease.  We will all be staying here again in the future.  

Great place to stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Tillie Pierce Home Inn. This charming and historic home is thoughtfully decorated with abundant touches that made our stay very comfortable. One of the joys of patronizing a B&B includes interesting conversations with the host and other travelers at breakfast, and this visit did not disappoint. 

Gail provided us a delicious buffet for both mind and body. Breakfast provided many options to energize us for a day of touring the area. She is an engaging host as well as a history 'geek.' We enjoyed her wealth of knowledge of Gettysburg history which was enhanced by other guests, including a reenactor also staying there. 

Although ours was just a short stay, we were delighted in every way. Thank you, Gail, for your hospitality!

Lovely Home, Delightful Host

This was an amazing stay!!  The house is beautiful, full of old furniture and photos, just gorgeous!  Bathrooms are modern and well appointed, our hostess Gayle was pleasant, informative and very accommodating.  We could not have asked for better!  On the ghost side, there is a cat that is said to haunt the Inn along with a civil war Colonel and Tillie herself!  I didn’t personally experience anything but some odd knocking late at night, but my wife was successful with a brief EVP session where the Col., very politely, asked her to turn off her camera!  I highly recommend this Inn and will be staying here again!!!

Wonderful Experience!!

This was my first time at a B&B. We arrived around 3:45pm for check in on Veteran’s Day (one night stay). Luckily, parking is free at the meters that day, and we were met by Bob who was very friendly. He showed us around, made sure we got settled, then left for the night. I was surprised that there wasn’t an inn keeper on the grounds at all times, but maybe that’s normal?

We stayed in the Elizabeth Thorn room, and we happened to be the only guests that night. The layout of the room was fine, but I could see the space being an issue if you’re staying for a longer period of time with two people in the room. Road traffic didn’t bother us, but I could see it bothering light sleepers. Here’s what we didn’t like:

1. No tv in the room. Not a deal breaker, but it would have been nice.

2. For someone that wants to apply makeup, the lighting in the room and bathroom is terrible. 

3. No sink space in the bathroom for your toiletries. I had to keep everything on the floor.

4. The flap on the toilet tank is going bad and we had to fiddle with it many times in order for the toilet to stop running. It was annoying.

5. The bed was concave in the middle so it wasn’t comfortable for me when trying to sleep next to my 240 pound boyfriend.

6. It was FREEZING in the house/room at night! What I wish I knew was that there was a floor heater (and fan) in the armoire. We didn’t look in there at all since we didn’t need to utilize it.

7. This is what really got me… At 5:30am there was a really bad rain storm.  All of a sudden we heard “tap tap tap tap” and my bf got up to investigate. The left window was leaking really bad from two spots. We had to use our trash can and then get a trash can from another room to catch the water from the two spots. Water was all over the window sill and on the floor, and you could see where the sill was warping from previous leaks. Above the window you could clearly see the crack where the water was coming in. After the rain calmed down, it took a while for me to be able to fall back asleep.

The next morning my boyfriend advised Gail that there was a leak. Her response was that they were aware and there was nothing more they could do because they tried fixing it before. My bf then said it was bad and she said that the house was built in 1829 and that water will find its way in. Gail wasn’t rude at all with her tone, but I couldn’t believe what I was hearing! This terrible leak is just something that guests will have to deal with?!

7. Breakfast was ok. Fresh pastries (I didn’t try but they looked delicious), blueberry pancakes, plain bagels, and Gail made us scrambled eggs. Not saying it was bad, but for a B&B I just expected a little more. Maybe they don’t go all out of only one room was booked?

Overall this was my first and last B&B stay. The response to the leak is what really did it for me.

Hotel Next Time

Great location.  Gail is very friendly and knowledgeable.  We had Elizabeth Thorn Room. It was nice, but faces Baltimore Street, so does tend to be a little noisy.  The breakfast each morning was good, plus they keep water and snacks in the sitting room for guests.  There is also a small fridge for guest use.

Great B & B

Stayed for one night. Unfortunately it was raining and we did not get to enjoy the full downtown Gettysburg experience. However, I would stay here again. Bob, our host was very nice and helpful in acquainting us with the facilities. We stayed in the Tillie Pierce room, which was fine, other than the problem with the door sticking, which really should be fixed.

I travel a lot and stay at a lot of "haunted" B&B's and I must say this was one of my best experiences yet. Slept like a baby, the house is beautiful, and Gail and Bob went above and beyond! The breakfast was great both mornings and we had great conversations with the Innkeepers. Highly, HIGHLY recommended! Thank you for making our first visit to Gettysburg a memorable one!
