Know going in that the 'rooms' are rustic which adds to the charm but won't be your 'typical' 5star! Wendy is great, helpful, & accommodating "Johnny on the Spot" as the Host, and the location is perfect within walking distance of the river [with walking path], and eateries, but with so much to do/see ON the property there is no real need to venture out! went with grandkids who all loved it, especially getting up close and personal with all the farm animals[even better than Fossil Rim]; there were also many special touches (such as  leaving books on the beds that were age appropriate for the kids!); we met several other guests on the property, all very friendly & many of whom were 'repeat' guests, which speaks volumes!

We loved the place.  Rustic, clean and comfortable with lots of atmosphere.  We loved sitting on the porch in the morning, watched deer, horses, a donkey, rabbits.  Beautiful view of sunrise.  I explored the walk down the river in the other direction.  A gaggle of geese came honking in and smooth landed on the Paluxy River.  It was a wonderful site.  We met the owner and she was very gracious and showed us the path to walk around the place, which we did.  There are games for all ages, fire pits or you can rent an airstream or train car up in the woods.  Small kitchen with all you need.  Comfortable beds and linen.  It was a really lovely evening and morning.  Will definitely stay again.  (The children next door to us were having a blast outside the next day:)

Lovely Place for All

Wendy was an excellent host! Great place for kids to play and see all the animals including deer in the field. Close to the river and to walk into town. We were there in December it’s all lit up night so pretty. We loved sitting by the fire pit at night.

Wendy is very friendly and accommodating with the beautiful cabin we spent the weekend in!

The adults, as well as the grans, loved the relaxed farm atmosphere...the little ones were freely able to roam the neighborhood, within shouting distance.
We'll eagerly be back next year! (Our 6th year?)

Unforgettable!

By far one of our favorite family vacations. Wendy was amazing, made breakfast for everyone and made it a point to make sure we had everything we needed. Anna and Lilly were by far my favorite. We recommend Country Woods Inn for a fun, relaxing, and animal loving time. 

A must go family farm!

Had a great weekend at Country woods Inn. Stayed at one of the lovely airstreams in the woods , everything was  perfect. Perfect place to relax and enjoy the rustic charm of the town. Can’t wait to plan my next trip.

Great staycation in amazing property

We absolutely loved staying in the Santa Fe Railroad Car at The Country Woods Inn! The smallest details were thought of and provided, right down to a jar for catching fireflies and on themed plush robes. We loved all of the animals and activities that were provided for us to do on the property! 

Fun for the Whole Family!

The Prairie House was a step back in time with some up-to-date amenities. 4 bedrooms to give everyone some space and a living area to spend time together. Two small kitchens and two bathrooms. You are able to relax and enjoy lots of animals on the property.  Walking distance to the River Walk and The Rocks Park.  Close to nearby shops and restaurants and Fossil Rim Wildlife Center and Dinosaur Park.
A must stop is StoryBook Cafe, Mama Mia restaurant and Fossil Rim Safari ride.  Kids loved feeding lettuce to the Giraffes. 
Hosts are awesome, responsive and accommodating.

The Prairie House, Glen Rose

Great weekend!
We joined our 2 yr old grandson and his parents for a long weekend. Our grandson had so much fun petting the rabbits, feeding the ducks, chickens and rooster. He even brushed   Gracie the horse thru the fence! We saw deer in the pasture and enjoyed the fire flys in the evening. The farm house cabin was very rustic, antic furnishings and comfortable. It’s definitely old fashioned so if you are looking for rustic cabin style stay it’s the place for you! They have hiking trails and  do have dvd  movies , books and board games for the kids it’s a good experience to get away from phones and technology. They served a yummy complementary breakfast on Saturday morning.  My grandson loved this place and was so excited to see the farm house animals each day. We will definitely come again and bring our other little grandchildren.

Rustic Cabin/Farmhouse Experience

My family of five with kids ages 14 to 7, enjoyed our Glamping experience in the Spartan. The atmosphere was quiet and quaint, and my children loved the “neighbors” - all the farm animals. I do recommend bringing beach towels to have after a relaxing day at the Paluxy river. The river backs up to the property, which is a nice perk. If we had lived closer, I would have brought bikes, but the walk was peaceful and I didn’t mind it.
