The good first: The front desk clerk was friendly. The room (one of the deluxe ocean-view rooms) is really big, with a great balcony and great view. The room is equipped with a mini-fridge. It's a nice easy walk to the beach. The clerk let us plug our electric car in so we could trickle charge overnight.

The not so good: The room was in desperate need of a refresh. The carpet was badly stained everywhere and just really gross, and the bathroom sink had a huge crack and was missing the drain stopper. The room was poorly lit, with an overhead light near the entrance and two small free-standing lamps; no lights on the (large) nightstands. There's a table with a pair of hard wooden chairs, but no light anywhere nearby and no comfy chair to sit in (except the rocking chairs outside--assuming it's not raining). The grab and go breakfast (which I know from a previous stay isn't great) isn't available until 8am, which doesn't work if you're getting an early start. In fact, the office isn't open until 8am.

Great view but room badly needs a refresh

We got the Sand & Sea economy room which was way to small for us. The web site stated that all the rooms had been re-furbished, but I'm pretty sure this one hadn't. We have stayed here before with good luck, but if we stay here again it won't be in the economy rooms!  

Not as good as last time

Importantly--the staff here are very friendly and helpful. Everything was clean and fresh, though they use enough fabric softener to scent the entire coast. This was our second visit for a yearly celebration that always includes a hot tub, but alas, the hot tub was out of order the entire time. 
  We stayed in their beach cabin because it looked quiet--it was, but it was also COLD--the unheated bathroom has a ceramic floor! 
We really enjoyed the not-really-beach view that included quail and other wildlife, and the sound of the surf. A VERY bright light shines into the cabin all night! There is a loft that requires climbing some very iffy stairs and has no lighting. Even in cool weather, it was either too cold with the window open or too hot from all the heat from the first floor ending up there. Not a usable space. Hard to say if we'd return again--we liked the quiet of the cabin but it was really too cold for fall and very cramped. The bathroom  has a low ceiling and a beam partially blocks the doorway--we both bumped our heads hard on this. Perhaps we'll try again and stay back in the main building, though the failure to maintain the hot tub might push us over the edge. Luckily the price was right.

Great staff, less great cabin

The best thing about the Pacific Reef is the front desk clerk who apparently didn’t know about thef following issue.
We had booked  a room for the handicapped. This motel has two ooms for the handicapped.
The first one we were given had no theat. To compensate we were offed a choice between another blanket or an pricier upgrade.  We chose the upgrade that had both heat and a higher price.
The breakfast—a Grab and Go--- was a muffin, a small breakfast bar, and a small bottle of water ,all three  presented in a stapled paper bag to prevent theft.
The whole experience was a disappointment and not handled well., Friendly, though. Another guest knocked on our back door looking for her room.

Not the best of the west

WOW what a disappointment!! The rooms were filthy, the carpet was so stained (with who knows what)!
The filthy carpet made the rooms stink.  Everyone had their doors open to try to air out the rooms.  There were actual foot prints stained on the carpeted stairs going up into our room.  Management should visit the facility and clean it up.

Extremely dirty rooms!’

For the price, this is absolutely the best, cutest and most unique hotel room you can find. It is so accommodating and comfortable and the light show was amazing! We felt so at home here and really didn't want to leave. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are spacious, plus they have Starbucks coffee in the room! If I could give 6 stars, I would.

Best hotel on the coast!

It isn’t fancy but it was clean and quiet. This hotel is affordable and in a good location. The staff was friendly and the view were great and you can walk right out from the patio. I would stay here again.   

Nice stay

The A-frame beach house was perfect! Everything was clean and comfortable. We could hear the roar of the ocean while we slept. It was wonderful!  It was nice to have a coffee maker, but it made a mess twice. A better quality one would be better. 

A-frame was amazing!!!

This was a cute place to stay. We stayed in the A frame cabin. It was nice but wifi couldn’t connect on either of our phones even though it was showing full bars. The hot tub area was a great feature but it looks like the lining on the hot tub was wearing off. Also there were no towels when we got there. The proximity to the beach and cleanliness are reasons for us to come back for sure. 

Cute place to stay

My husband and I try to get a way from every thing every couple of months. We stayed at the motel for they allowed me to have my 3 small dogs. The rooms were clean and nice. It was quite at night and so we were able to sleep. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I will stay there more often when I can find the time.
