Apparently this motel use to be a Travel Lodge, so look for that sign, since the Asam Hotel sign is a homemade masterpiece at street level. Finding the place at night is a challenge unless you look for the old Travel Lodge sign. The  staff is trying, but they are too few to make a difference.  The vending machines must have left with the Travel Lodge franchise. The pool is technically there, but the water isn't. The free breakfast exist in name only, featuring a box of cereal and some Little Debbie snack cookies.  Our room was clean enough but nothing to write home about. The 24 hour office is rarely open, so it must not be the same 24 hours we normally assume. This was the cheapest motel option, so a low price point is it's only value.  Judge accordingly.

Former Travel Lodge that has seen better days.

We where traveling through Kansas with no intentions of stopping for the night, but we ended up stopping in goodland Kansas.  The first hotel we stopped at would not allow pets.  We did see a sign on the interstate that advertised Roadway Inn pets allowed so we went there.  We noticed the outside does need a little upkeep but we had to stay somewhere so went into office.  The manager Heath was extremely helpful and kind.  Heath got us our room and even walk down with us to insure we where satisfied with the room.  The room was outstanding clean, water pressure amazing for shower, direct tv,internet and best of all pets welcome.  One other bonus about this stay was a steak house right in the parking lot.  While traveling it was nice to have a good meal and it was very good.  This place is a winner reasonable price for family’s traveling anywhere near Goodland

Excellent Stay

Can’t recommend staying here. Service was disorganized & room was dirty. Upon arrival, no one at front desk, office door locked, had to call a number left on door. Finally arrived at room & found the door wide open, no TP, no soap, no facial tissue, carpet dirty, crumbs on table & chair, old coffee grounds & filter in coffeemaker,  hairs around sink, carpet wet around frig. Next morning tried to get breakfast, but no one in office, door locked, so no coffee & no breakfast. Open trash cans near room doors. Don’t like leaving a bad review, but people need to be warned. Next time I’ll pay a little more to make sure I get a clean room.

Don’t stay here.

I checked in at 10pm. First room was not cleaned and had chips all over the floor. Second room had urine all over the toilet and was full of flies. There seemed to be some sort of "deal" (you know what kind of deal) going down between 2 cars in the front of the parking lot. Overall, I wish I had stayed somewhere else, perhaps a ditch along the interstate.

Not clean

This motel was the nastiest room I have ever seen. There were nail clippings in the carpet, rust stains in the tub, a squashed bug on the bed under a pillow. Part of the wall was peeling off and the hot water faucet handle came off when it was turned. There was no lid on the toilet and cigarette burns on the blanket. A chair was black with filth and a previous guest’s toothbrush shield was on the floor. When we complained, two staff members stated that room shouldn’t have been rented. The manager was rude but offered a discount if we would not post a review. In the end he refunded a small fee and then added it back on ourcredit card! The grounds were as filthy as the room! Avoid this disgusting place.

Disgusting motel

After a 13 hour drive we just decided to make the best of it. Cons-this place wasn't as clean as I'd have liked. Towels were thin and the bed sheets, even though they looked clean, had stains. The lighting was poor in the room. Toilet hard to flush, you had to hold the button down for a long time.
Pros-the price was extremely cheap and the clerk very friendly. Bed was comfortable and room was quiet. The mini fridge worked well and we didn't
use the microwave. For the price we got what we paid for but doubtful we'll stay here again. We've been customers of Choice Hotels and I don't complain about their properties very often but this one was below what we're accustomed to.

Just OK for one night

We picked this place mainly for the price.  It is very clean and mostly updated.  The bed was comfortable and it had a new white comforter on it.  The lighting in the bathroom was bright, the shower has new tile and has an exhaust fan which most motels rooms do not have.  Also, there was plenty of electicial outlets, a recliner and a desk.  We had read reviews online and made sure we requested an updated room before we actually booked.  They lady we talked with before hand was very accommodating in fulfilling our request.  We for sure would stay there again if we are ever back in Western Kansas.

Great Value

I hope to never stay at this motel again-it was almost creepy.  The mattress was OK and the sheets weren't bad but the refrigerator didn't work, it seemed dingy in the room and it did smell odd, old, & musty.  I know the wind never stops blowing in KS but the pile of dirt and sand right outside our room was too much.  Once a week, get a broom and sweep out the walk-ways. The free breakfast was a JOKE!  There were 4 of us, we saw 2 bagels and 3 smashed muffins in the bread box. No juice, there was some small yogurt containers and maybe small milk cartons in the fridge. Nothing appealing to us and no one was around for us to ask about replenishing the food items.

Really disappointed in this motel

This was a place that I picked primarily on price but wow.  BIG SURPRISE
The room was large, clean , updated and even had a cushy recliner which felt great after traveling all week.
In this covid time of breakfast in a bag, they still have hot waffles.
Can't go wrong here

Tremendous value

My wife and I checked in for one night.  We were only looking for somewhere reasonably comfortable to sleep.  Initially the front desk attendant was polite and checked us in.  We booked a king bed room, but the room they gave us was a double queen.  That wasn't the main issue though.  The room was freezing cold.  We were informed that the king rooms hadn't been cleaned "because of the holiday", and that the heat had just been turned on about an hour ago.  We decided to give it a while to see if it got warmer, but after an hour or was just as cold.  We were told that we could be moved to another room but it would be just as cold and that "other guests sleep in rooms like that".  Thank goodness that the service we booked the room through was able to get us a better, warm room in another hotel.  No way I'd stay at this Rodeway Inn in the future.  Very disappointed.
