We were afraid we wouldn’t find a place to stay on the North Shore but were able to find this hotel on a Friday night. Great beds! Ok breakfast but they served The World’s Best Donuts which were delicious. Great coffee too. We didn’t have a chance to use the pool as it was late when we arrived but it looked nice. We could look out our window at the lake which was great.

Great hotel

This hotel is clean, and the rooms are spacious and quiet.  The continental breakfast has many offerings.  We were on third floor which was non-smoking; there was not even a hint of smoke smell.  It did not allow pets, which we appreciated.  It is in a good location for walking around Grand Marais.  For the price, it has what any guest would need for their journey.  We will stay here again!

A perfect place to stay!

We came during off-season. Very cost effective. Stayed in room 211 where the big picture window faced the lake - great view!!! Super child friendly, medium small sized pool from 3' to 4'6'' deep with lots of seating (indoor). Sauna and hot tub. All day coffee and juice in lobby (free). Free continental style breakfast you go to the counter, they have a menu you order from until 10 am. Friendly staff. Good sized rooms, ours had 2 queen beds, good hot water in the shower and decent pressure. Recommend buying bottled water as the water out of the room faucet tastes a bit odd - it didn't bother me but my husband was not a fan so we got bottled water. Walking distance from My Sister's Place - great spot for lunch or dinner. 4-5 min walk to downtown (south of the border cafe or hungry hippie tacos). 10 min walk to artists point. TV and mini fridge in room. Overall very clean. Couldn't be more satisfied with our stay. Great value.

Perfect for families with young kids, clean, friendly, good location

Aspen Lodge’s most outstanding feature is their employee attitude. Every one of the staff went out of their way to be helpful. The facility is immaculate (a little dated, but that’s a minor issue). The rooms are spacious and have a bit of a lake view (2nd floor).  The only option we wish they had is a walk in shower in the accessible rooms. Even with their grab bar system, it’s difficult to get in and out with the raised tub.

We’ll definitely stay here again!

We stayed there for two nights. The hotel was old but well maintained and clean. The room was spacious with two separated area,  one for a king bed and the other for two queen beds. The location was great, on hwy 61 and near several restaurants and groceries.

Nice stay

A good spot to stay.  Nothing fancy.  Nice staff.  Clean hotel.  Minutes to walk most anywhere in town.  Pool, Whirlpool and Sauna were clean and kid friendly.  For those on a budget, this is a good alternative.  

Vacation.  

We liked everything about this hotel from the friendly check-in to the very clean and spacious room. Would definitely stay there again. Continental breakfast was much more than we expected; included hard-boiled eggs, several types of cold and hot cereal, french toast, waffles, yogurt, juices and more. Conveniently located by the shops in Grand Marais

Great

This property is well located just a short walk to the main shopping and restaurants. The staff on all shifts proved friendly and helpful. The rooms are as advertised on the website plain but serviceable. If you are fussy about pillows bring your own. None of ours were softer than a rock.The only other notable deficiency was security. The side and back doors were unlockeda ll night. Could have been a two night oversight but not a good look. Overall wortth the price and we would return.


Go for the location, stay for the value

Centrally located hotel in Grand Marais. Right on main highway. Could walk to harbor and My Sisters place for dinner. Air worked well. Ice machine on same floor. Continental breakfast in morning. Staff friendly and knowledgeable regarding dining options and sites to visit.

Convenient hotel to harbor

Nice location in Grand Marais and close to downtown.  Overall the hotel is old and dated.  Rooms are fine. Breakfast operation is absurd, you tell
the front desk what you want and they bring it out to you. Menu is average at best.  Staff is helpful.
