In the Woods! 

Very disappointed with accommodations to start. I was told they served supper if you let owner know at breakfast. Not on our stay. Leftover polish food. “Hotel “ was ridiculous to get to especially when recovering from a broken femur, I was able to walk. But not on unkempt “roads”. No signs to direct you up to the hotel.
And now I was told there was a patio are you which consisted of a cement slab, no shade no umbrellas.
Then we have the rooms…. No, no dimming lights no lamp app and many trees that block the lake. 
Being unable to drive up, unkempt trails, Broad, whatever you call it, pretty much, kept me a prisoner, and last, but not least the shower was slippery with no grated bottom. And then no cell service and no phone in the room. Should I fall again, no way to call 911.
I am very disappointed. The Grand Mesa is beautiful.
Everything was around us but really no food as I was told. My friend and I checked out early of course no refund on the third night. Oh well. Beware.

Hot during the the day, bright lights that don’t dim settle, and very difficult access to the so-called hotel. 

We spent 2 nights in cabin #4 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Anna and her extended Polish family are wonderful and hard working - kudos to every one of you. The breakfast was decent, would have liked to see more fruit, but that’s ok as it is isolated. Our deck was destroyed by the 47’ of snow, so that would have been great to have that added feature. Otherwise, keep in mind that this is a mountain experience - the Wi-Fi may be spotty, so what, it may be chilly, cuddle up. The prices are reasonable, the staff wonderful, the setting spectacular - that’s why it gets five stars. Keep up the good work Anna!

Lovely Stay

We loved the cabin and the view of the lake...Plenty of room...beds were comfortable...breakfast was good. ..only served between 8 am to 9 am...management was very courteous...cabin did need screens as the mosquitoes were unrelenting...rooms could use ceiling fans..there was no complimentary coffee...fishing was great.

Beautiful Getaway

I have never been treated so
Rudely as we were at this lodging facility. They were not friendly and would not even accommodate a simple request. I wanted a sheet or blanket to hang over the sliding glass door that only had a flimsy curtain at best on it and the light at 5 am was very bright. The bed was right next to the door. I was told no they would not allow me to do that???? 
The cabin was run down and we rented one with a deck for the lake view and our dog to go out on and the deck was falling down and we were not allowed to use it.  We had 3 other cabins rented in our group and all cabins were in terrible shape. Everyone in our party was treated very rudely by the staff. The cabin next to us got kicked out cause they tied a curtain up and that wasn’t allowed and the staff came over and called them a bunch of hilly Billy’s and an argumentative ensued and they got kicked out. You can’t call your guests names. I will never go back and do not recommend this place to anyone…

Don’t bother

We had two cabins at the lake.  They were comfortable and quaint.  We saw deer just below us, and bald eagles in the sky.  Also many smaller animals and the kids loved it.  The family who runs it is from Poland and the food was very good.  Especially the homemade Polish sausage.

Family reunion

I made PAID reservations about a month ago via Expedia for Cabin 3.  I am traveling cross country with 4 children and my spouse.  Three days before I am set to arrive - I get a phone call telling me that I need to call them.  I call them and they tell me that they can't accommodate me with this cabin - but rather a hotel room with a couple of cots.  No kitchen - a room with two beds and a bunch of cots.  No discounts or anything to help with the problem on their end. They then proceed to tell me that they have sent me several notifications thru phone calls and Expedia.  I have NOT received any phone calls prior to this first call.  I call Expedia and speak with two different departments and they said they NEVER received any notification either. Here I am 3 days to arrival and no place to stay.... they've had my reservation for a while now and I suspect that they made an error on their end and I am the one who is having to deal with it.  Looking at the rest of the complaints on here...I see that communication is not their strong point.  Stay away!

Lied

We had cabin #3 and the heater was out of order. They put a small electric heater inside but it did not work well. We slept in long underwear with 2 covers and hated to get up to a frigid room. The window in the bedroom was cracked and there was actually ice built up inside by the bed. When we left the temp outside was 12 degrees! The oven did not work either. The only heat was in the "lounge" but the owner commandeered the chair so no one could sit by it.
The view inside the cabin was nice and we had planned to read, play games but even with our ski pants and sweaters it was too cold! Buyer beware.

Cabin was cold, one night too much, checked out early!

The lowest point of our visit was when a group of people moved into the cabin right next to ours at 9:30 PM and started partying on the deck literally 5 feet from our cabin. They were talking loudly, smoking weed and coughing for hours. We assumed they were other guests and did not say anything, but the next morning heard people wake up early and saw so cars parked anywhere and realized (we believe) that it was the employees who had been partying outside our cabin.  On top of this, we were not able to get any food and were never told when the breakfast was available. We missed it after sleeping in because we were kept up late the night before. The service was quite poor. I would never return. In general, bring your own food when visiting Grand Mesa! We had a hard time getting dinner (which was ‘not available’ at the Alexander Lodge) and ended up with frozen pizza and French fires at  another lodge.

Would not recommend

Would have given them a zero for their non compassionate behavior.  We got stuck in the snow for 7 hours from 5pm to 2 am and the sheriff had to come and rescue us.  We had no cell service.  My husband had to walk a mile in the snow and hold the phone in the air to get 911.  Our car had to be towed out the next day.  I called the Lodge to ask if we wouldn’t be charged but instead of being halfway caring, she started in about how it wasn’t their fault we got stuck.  Why didn’t we call them if we could get a hold of the sheriff.  I explained it took multiple call attempts to get 911 and our concern at 1 am after stuck in a car for seven hours was to get to safety.  They said I needed to call Expedia for the refund.  I did that but when Expedia contacted them they said they wouldn’t give a refund.  I called to ask why they would tell me they would but then say differently when they called.  They were extremely rude on the phone.  Defensive about how other guests made it so why couldn’t we.  They called me a liar saying if I could contact 911 we should have called them.  These people are only concerned about money.  If you want to go to a place with ride, liars, don’t care about human life, then by all means give these people your money.
