We like to go away for one night a month just to relax. Our usual places are Skaneateles or Niagara on the Lake as they are fairly close to our home. This time we chose to stay even closer to home ( Rochester,  New York) and give this place a chance . 
The rooms are clean and updated with magnificent views of Canandaigua but the resort is missing the target in a giant way. The place was a ghost town and surprisingly, for a weekend smacked between Valentines and Presidents’ Day. 

1) On arrival we were notified that the restaurant is closed and they have a sandwich style cafe that closes at 5pm. We should have been alerted to this upon booking. The place is remote and is 14 miles to one town ( Naples) and 11 to the other ( Canandaigua). The receptionist gave us a list of local restaurants which included both towns. We drove first to Naples( only coffee shops, pizza parlors and low level bars) then to the other and had a great meal at Nolan’s but it was NOT the relaxation we were looking  for ( given that the rooms were full price ) We really just wanted to stay on the premises and enjoy the views and the scenery. 
2) no hot tub, pool or any outdoor venue such as a fire pit or activity on the premises 
3) no robes or slippers in the room
4) no microwave( at least we could have heated something up)
5) we are surrounded by lakes and the water pressure is as if we were in a third world 
country. 

It would seem with the highlight of our beautiful winter, on the edge of a pristine lake, some plan for spa packages, couples retreats, or even dinner should have been one of the options. 

I own two businesses and it seems that no effort was made, by management to make the guests feel welcome and comfortable. 

I will say though, that the women who was cleaning the rooms gave us some extra coffee and was very upbeat and friendly ( as was the front desk young lady)

Very sad to have to write this as we were hoping this would be on our list of “go to spots “within our back yard. 
Maybe it’s best just to stay closed for the season since there is apparently limited  interest in  taking care of their guests. 
 



Disappointed 

We have been long time visitors enjoying a great resort and golf course. When the ownership changed a number of years ago  the quality and service began to slide. It is no longer worthy of a visit. Service is weak. Food is okay. Rooms are tired. Golf course is still good but it was great. The saddest part is the owners have no idea what customer service is or a fun environment. The owners have sucked the life out of the staff. Sad because it is a beautiful area with picturiest views. I guess all great things have to come to an end. 

Sad day... ownership lost the script 

This is more like a Motel than a charming Inn.  For $400 a night I want someone to bring my luggage to me instead of having to traipse through a parking lot, up a gentle slope and climbing a flight of stairs in the freezing rain whilst rolling a bag, carrying a backpack and computer.

Also, if you want ice, guess’s what, back down the stairs, down the sloping path to a closet, again in the freezing rain.

Ok so settling into the room was nice.  Fireplace - check!
Lovely setting area - check!
Comfy bed- check!
Lovely view of the lake...  wait, what!  They forgot to tell me my view was mostly of a subdivision that was overrun by small children squealing with delight at life’s simple pleasures.  Although in another setting that would be great, but when wanting to escape to a quite and serene local for rest and respite, it was heartbreaking.
The restaurant choices were limited and the chef was not willing to alterations for preferences.  I had the spaghetti squash and it was just terrible. So into town the next day to Eric’s Office for some French Onion Soup.

While others may not be bothered paying so much for a room with what I found to be disappointing realities, I will try another “Inn” should I be in the region again.

Disappointing Overall

Yes, this is an expensive getaway, but husband and I found this worth the splurge and planned for it. I'll start with pros/cons and then give a few tips.

PROS:
-Property is generally very quiet (we luckily stayed a day before a few weddings were being held), though we did hear a few later night party-goers return to the hotel while we were in bed (i.e. high heels stomping up the stairs, loud talking).
-When the weather is good, the views are absolutely gorgeous.

Beautiful getaway

We arrived to a beautiful early fall day and a facility that sparkled. The Cafe and Pro Shop are combined and the employees aim to please. Golf course was excellent as expected. The little things were all first class and a great day for our group of 16. 

Golf as it should be

Went to a wedding there. The hotel had 2 in one day. Food fair. Food service slow then dirty  plates on table for over an hour.  Under staffed and over whelmed

But that reflects ownership and upper management. Please read the honest reviews. Food and bar service closed on Monday. Breakfast?  Two weddings there on a Friday and bar closed at 9

This ownership group more worried about not smoking on property and no cash used on property

We had cigar bar outside on deck. Night manager said stay away from  door. Then waitress and then female manager came out and said stop. No one but us on patio. They said use designated smoking area -outside on wet grass. We stopped

No cigars allowed on golf course 

Saw the golf club clerk drag a ash urn over to golf drop and then move a customer from parking lot over to it. 

They do have an electric car charging station

No cash allowed at any outlet including bar tips.  Bar service slow enough without the required credit card use.  

Very odd operation. 



The worst 

So this is a strange place. very lovely hotel very empty hotel so the staff was very scripted and fake the bread was stale,the fish wasn’t very well prepared and tasteless ,the other meal burger ,not so special !"So the check came put cash in card holder to be told they don’t accept cash      REALLY

Beautiful view a10 / Food a 5

Played a NYS Golf Tournament at  Bristol Harbor. 
My room was beautiful- overlooking the lake. Room was immaculate- nice amenities. Would go back in a heart beat.  If you are a golfer & enjoy the lakes, & scenery. Ya gotta go

Beautiful, Fun, Great Time

Good food, great staff.  We were a group of twelve having dinner on a beautiful sunny day.  Gusty winds started up shortly after we ordered.  The cool, and unexpected, wind began making our time outside somewhat unpleasant.  Staff members realized, quickly, and began preparing seating inside for our group.  We were very pleased with the offer of different seating!  

The food was quite good, there were no problems with our orders, and everything came out as expected.  The meals/drinks were a bit expensive, but the view and service made it worth while.

Beautiful View

My wife and I celebrated New Year’s Eve with friends at Bristol Harbour and were totally blown away with the entire experience.  All three couples enjoyed the delicious special menu that Todd and Laura had for the evening that included perfect wine pairings for each coarse. We have known the Cooks for a few years and scene how much of themselves they’ve invested in the golf course, the lodge and the quality of the food they serve. I think my favorite part of Bristol Harbour is sitting out on the patio on a warm summer evening and enjoying dinner and drinks soaking in the million dollar view of beautiful Canandaigua Lake.
