We are longtime fans of the Monument Mountain Motel and the owners, who are very  welcoming, work extremely hard, and are on the premises.  They provide excellent recommendations for things in the area, too. We like coming here in the summer for concert-going and hiking as well as winter hikes.  If you are here in the summer their flower beds are a riot of color and beauty. It is very close to several state parks, Berkshire Trails paths, Monument Mountain and the ecletic mix of independent businesses along route 7 and in the downtown of Great Barrington. The bed and pillows are so comfortable and the bathroom is spacious, white and immaculate. Nice toiletries too(Paul Mitchell/Matrix).  It feels like things used to be in the days of the roadside motel. 

Waking up here on a summer(or winter) morning is one of life's pleasures

Attracted by the price of $91 a night for 2-night mid-week stay in a single-queen room.  Office clerk walked me to my room, opened the door and confirmed the TV and AC were working ok, and left.  Room was neat and clean, slightly run down but not worth complaining about.  Big bathroom, plenty of towels and hot water, working TV, microwave, and refrigerator.

Though inexpensive and moderate amenities, you don't really get a negative vibe from the people staying there.  There's a Subway, market, and gas station right across the street, and plenty of restaurants close by.  Very convenient location to visit Great Barrington and the area.

They also made up the room the one complete day I stayed.  When I stayed at Paris Las Vegas, they only made up the room twice in 7 days.

The desk person was polite and helpful.

Great price, awesome location, will stay again

Overall, it was fine and would stay again if I wanted a budget option. We stayed in room 11.

Pros: exceptionally quiet inside room even though there was no vacancy so I know the other rooms were taken, cheapest option in the area when we were looking, very good AC, fridge and microwave in room

Cons: room and bathroom were small.  Space between bed and dresser was maybe a tad over a foot and this was the passage to the bathroom, no bedside table on one side of the bed.

Key notes: do not pick this room if you'll have wet gear (e.g. bathing suits). There is truly no place to hang things besides over the shower wall and that space gets taken by your towels.  

Management tip: a few hooks in the bathroom would be a huge win.  I hate having nowhere to hang a towel

It was fine for a budget motel

More affordable option with clean rooms, comfortable beds, friendly owner. Great location for exploring Stockbridge, the Berkshires, leaf-pepping. Good eats nearby. Loved the 60’s style motel with parking entrance. Owner has updated bathroom. Plenty of electrical outlets. Met all of our needs - CLEAN, comfortable beds, SAFE area, PRICE, & location.

Clean, Comfortable plus Location

We stayed overnight for a family event.  The staff was very accommodating. The room was affordable and was very clean and tidy.   The motel provides the basics, nothing extravagant but that’s not what we were looking for.  We just wanted a good place to stay and we found it.  The shower was powerful and had plenty of hot water.  The bed (king) was firm but very comfortable.  Despite being on the main road we were not bothered by road noise.  We will be staying here again.  I recommend.

Basic accommodations done very well

We stayed here while attending concert at Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center. This motel is in great location. The room was comfortable and very clean. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have encountered in motel/hotel in a very long time. Although it is located on main road, it was very quiet. The price, especially for the Berkshires, was well beyond reasonable. Owners were so nice.

Would definitely stay here again.

Like another reviewer, can’t believe this is the same motel as the 5 star reviews say. It was pokey, smelly and dingey.  Walked in and straight back out. Couldn’t believe how misled I was by the website. No room to walk up one side of the bed, small stained sofa, worn carpet. Cannot believe the reviews are of the same place. Did not stay!

Appallingly misled on website

I am surprised at how much our experience differed from those described in most reviews of this motel.  Our room was small and musty, with stained wallpaper and worn, nicked furniture.  The only place in the room to sit was a small, stained, badly sagging sofa bed.  There were two molded plastic chairs outside the room, had to wipe them off before sitting.  The mattress was relatively new and pretty comfortable.  The TV worked fine.  The small microwave oven looked new.  The in-wall A/C unit was also newish but too powerful for this little room; it cooled the room too fast and shut off before getting the humidity out, leaving the room feeling sticky.  The A/C started and stopped frequently, with a lot of clicking.  The small bathroom was in very good condition and had clearly been redone from floor to ceiling in the recent past.  New sink, no countertop.  Ample lighting in the bathroom.  Hair dryer provided.  The shower stall was an inexpensive kit unit.  Excellent water pressure, ample hot water.  Surprisingly quiet room given the roadside location.  Won't be back.

Cramped, dingy, some new parts

This is a great value for one or two nights.  Rooms were spacious and clean. Also staff were very nice. They had soap, shampoo and shower cap amenities.  If you visit norman Rockwell museum , this is a perfect location. This is also not far from the main st restaurants and shops in stockbridge. 

Great budget 

We come to the Berkshire's every spring to play golf in the Wyantunuck Spring Classic. We stay at the Monument Mountain Motel for its fair price and clean rooms.It is a family owned Motel just North of downtown Great Barrington Mass. There are many things to see in this area.
