Captain’s Quarters 602
We feel like we have found the perfect spot for us to come! Jenna was very responsive to our inquiries and questions. She also put up a Christmas Tree for us and made us feel so at home! The place was one of the cleanest VRBOs we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in a lot! And that means a lot to me! It is spotless! Great job! And the cupboards are well stocked with dishes and pots and pans! I’m glad to see you have a regular size coffee maker too! We slept very well! And the view….oh my!! I sat either on the patio or in front of the door all the time looking out at the waves! And we saw dolphins!! I went shelling for treasures! We walked to Sea and Suds but unfortunately they were closed till Jan. The unit is very quiet! Just perfect for us two old retired kids who still want to enjoy life! Thank you!!


We Found Our Paradise! Captain’s Quarters 602

The Royal Palms has been our go-to for 15 years due to its location at the end of the beach next to the nearly-deserted Gulf State Park beach, but this year’s unit was a disappointment. It was apparent from the dust, hair and dirt that housekeeping hadn’t touched the baseboards in the bathrooms of 1207 in a long time. The bathroom exhaust vents and ceiling fans were dirty. The drywall around the bunks was in need of repair. The recliner was not operational—and one reason we booked this unit was to provide a recliner for a family member with a back injury.  Our queen bed had a twin-sized top sheet on it. 

We rolled with it, because we didn’t discover the sheet situation until late at night and we didn’t want to spend time waiting for an employee to show up with the correct size sheet or to clean the unit. For substantial cleaning fees, guests should expect a higher standard. 

Last summer the cleaning issue was noticeable, but finding worse issues this summer makes me think the management company’s quality control could be the problem.

Has been a go-to for years, but this year was a disappointment.

Condo 708. When we arrived there were nail clippings from the guest before us on the floor. Sand still everywhere. Fridge rusted. Couch was disgusting. We had to put a sheet on the couch to actually sit on it.  We had to wash all the bedding before use. Floor in bedroom not even finished. The table on the balcony was broken. The chairs to the  dinning table were all cracked and broken. The beds were absolutely horrible to sleep in they were like sleeping on the floor. The washer smells terrible. The shower wouldn’t drain. I would not recommend this condo!! Gross!

Won’t do it again

I recently stayed in Royal Palms 708 for 27 nights.  The condo was a huge disappointment and Brett/Robinson was a poor excuse for property management. I have been visiting Gulf Shores for forty years and have always loved my time there. I used Brett/Robinson for the first time to book this trip. The condo was in great need of repair.  The vertical blinds were falling apart and wouldn’t close, the refrigerator was rusted on the outside, part of the flooring was missing in one of the bedrooms, there was one broken down sofa and no other comfortable chairs to sit on, and the shower fixtures were disgusting. I spoke to someone seven different times about repairing the vertical blinds and no one ever came. I explained that I am a widowed female and really would like to close the blinds at night, but I spent 27 nights with the blinds open. I am appalled that Brett/Robinson is not a better management company. They apparently never inspect the condos they handle and don’t care what condition they’re in. This experience was a first and last—I’ll NEVER use Brett/Robinson again!!

Poor Property Management

The unit we stayed in was nice.  The location was good.  We set our chairs in a storeage area because we forgot our car keys in the room.  Came back and chairs were gone.  Never expected vacationing families to be thieves.  Now I know.

We stayed in unit 303. The clock was not working in the kitchen,  They said there would be a roll of paper towels and laundry detergent to wash their towels before we left but, there was not any, the TV in the bedroom did not work, the light stayed on in the one bedroom along with the fan. We could not have just the fan on at night.Right before we left we found a remote that controlled it. We should have been told about it., the ice maker made very little ice.  We were disapointed and will not go back to that unit.

We stayed at Royal Palms in room 304. We had great views from the balcony and easy access to the beach. We were far enough away from the public beach that the beach wasn’t very crowded. The condo had one bedroom and two bathrooms. Checking in was simple and everything was very clean. Can’t wait to come back.
