Got to hotel at 8 pm in pouring rain and was told that my reservation did not exist.  Had made a reservation with my credit card and was told that if I needed to cancel it - I had to do it within 48 hours before the date of stay - i never cancelled.  When I got to the hotel I was made to stand in the rain and was told they don’t take credit cards they only take cash…. And that they were booked and had no rooms available. 
This is unacceptable, I am a 83 year old woman traveling with my daughter to a new state at night - we spent an hour till 9 pm trying to find a room - in an unfamiliar neighborhood- in the pouring rain - in the dark parking lot of the Knight Inn- and we were left with nowhere to go.  Shame on a business who takes advantage of elderly people.

Terrible customer service

I really love the location!  There are a laundromat, grocery stores, pharmacy, and other essential locations very close to the Inn.  Buses run frequently and transport into nearby Amherst or Northampton.  The air conditioning system runs super well, too!

Knight's Inn Hadley 5 star review

The room was clean, and orderly. However the mattress and pillows were the hardest, cheapest I have ever slept on in a hotel. My wife and I could not sleep they were so uncomfortable. The lobby was in disrepair and looked nothing like the pictures.  Overall, it would have been fine if it wasn't so OVERPRICED! It is the same price as the other nicer places in the area. We paid $190 per night (with taxes) and it should have been much less than that. I would suggest that they update the mattresses and pillows, and repair and replace the fixtures in the bathroom if they want to charge this much. It was run down and not worth the money.

Overpriced and run down

I reserved a room for two nights and paid for it.  I could not make the reservation. I understood that I had forfeited the first night's fee, but the hotel refused to refund the second night.  The booking service I used, reservations.com, was completely useless in trying to get the refund.  I called the hotel, and it told me to contact a booking service called Agoda, which I had never used,, in order to get the refund.  Of course I had no confirmation number to give Agoda.  This hotel is slimy and unethical and deserves all the poor reviews it has received.

Stay away from this place!

This is a somewhat down-at-heel motel, with aging fixtures and the occasional cigarette burn on the blanket, no ice in the ice maker, and the vending machine was out of change. I wouldn't have minded so much except that the price led me to expect a bit more... One gets what one pays for, but this time I got less than I should have.

Motel at hotel prices

Yes, this is probably one of the least expensive hotels in the area so it’s a bit enticing, but I guarantee you it’s not worth it. This place is pretty gross.

1. The hotel smells off. It’s a mixture of cooking spices and mildew with a hint of “what the heck is that smell?”

2. The mini-fridge does not seem like it has been cleaned in a long long time. “Sticky and smelly” is not how I like to describe where I put my food. 

3. There were long brown hairs all over the pillows. Now, I’m not going to go nuts on this one. I get it; it happens. But given the state of the rest of the hotel, it makes me question if the linens were cleaned. 

4. Did someone come into the room? On the day of check-in, I ran to the grocery store for about an hour and specifically left the room light on (it was just before sunset when we left and I wanted it to be on when I came back). When I got back, the room light was off and my backpack was moved. 

I don’t really care that the hotel is not updated (old bedspreads, old wallpaper, etc) but it should be clean. I cannot comment on how the beds felt because we ultimately checked out 4 hours after check-in. The owner would not refund our first night, which I understand to a degree, but also refused to refund our second night until hotels.com spoke to them on our behalf. 

If it has been unclear, I do not recommend this hotel.

I paid $169 for one night in this absolute dump. The mattress pat was FILTHY and stained with mysterious stains. The sheets were dirty, the bedspread was dirty, there were empty soda bottles stuck between the bed and the wall. The bathroom looked like a science experiment with mold growing in the tub and on the tile. Carpets filthy too. It was, by far, one of the most disgusting motels I've ever stayed at. I'm a UMass Amherst parent, and just a heads up -- DO NOT STAY HERE for dropoffs or pickups. It's nauseating. I recommend the Holiday Inn or pretty much anywhere else. This place is ridiculously expensive, filthy dirty, and I will never stay there again.

Absolutely DISGUSTING and OVERPRICED

No frills, nothing fancy, but a nice solid motel run by nice people. Interiors are a little old, but the price was right and the dog could come with. Smoking rooms actually still available, which I didn't think anyone did anymore. Room was clean, not much in toiletries, might want to bring your own pillows as they are thin.

Exactly what you expect for the price (but hey, pet friendly!)

We spent one night over the Labor Day weekend. First of all, the place looks great from the outside, which has clearly been redone, however, once you're inside it's an entirely different story. the rooms are dated, tired and rundown, the mattresses and pillows need to be replaced. The advertised continental breakfast wasn't even worth mentioning. What little they spend to provide breakfast could be put to better use (even providing slightly better towels would have been a welcome addition) on the property. It seems to be a family owned property, and I will say the woman at the desk (probably the owner) was very nice and accommodating when we asked for a late checkout (one person in our party ended up in the local emergency room). However, the gentleman (most likely her husband) gave us the bum's rush.
Lastly, I have to say, the price for what we received was way higher than it should have been. I understand it was move in weekend for the local college, even considering that, it was still way overpriced for what we got.
The one saving grace is that the place is pet friendly.

Overpriced and needs lots of TLC

We stayed one night at this location. It seemed like there are many simple things that could be done to improve the experience of the guests staying here. For example:
- Basic room appearance. Lamp shades were ripped/torn, walls had various dents/holes, etc, room was only dimly lit.
- Internet/wifi. The connection was only sporadic, and very slow when it worked, pretty much useless. In this day and age, how hard could it be to provide decent internet connectivity?
- room was clean, but had a strong stale/musty odor.
- Our friends tried to use their AC unit and it didn't work. On opening the windows, they found they had no screens.
- Breakfast offering consisted of several bagels and muffins, wrapped in saran wrap, presumably so they could be reused for the next day's breakfast, and a half-used bottle of orange juice set out for us.
- The office attendant was very helpful and friendly. But the office itself looked to be a mess, with papers, envelopes, note pads, etc piled and stacked around the place. Not a very nice first impression.

Of course, we were not expecting a luxury hotel, given the nightly rate being charged. But it could have been much better... We chose to stay at this spot only because our friends had booked their room here, and it was just tolerable enough for us to stay the one night. But I see no reason to ever return here.
