Had a wonderful stay at the Armory. Very quaint housing with full kitchen , living room and large bathroom & air conditioned bedroom ( with laundry!) Angela was very accommodating to our schedule given my fiancé was hiking the AT and I was meeting up with him from CT. You cannot bear the hospitality of Angela. Great location close to kelley farm
kitchen, the barn, Bolivar bakery & snallygasters. also quick 1 mile walk to to downtown harpers ferry.

Great Accommodations

We have stayed in lots of historic houses. So, we are used to “aged” accommodations. But this is not what my review is criticizing. The only good thing I can say is the bathrooms were clean. But other than that: the windows were dirty, There was no place clean to sit.,The couch in the area with the tv (which didn’t work or connect to cable) was stained and looked oily and dirty! Yuk! There was paint peeling on the kitchen cabinet, The refrigerator froze our food, The sheets on one of the beds weren’t clean. The smoke alarm went off because the burner on the stove wasn’t clean when we turned it on to boil water. 
We called the inn keeper about our tv on the first day and never received a call back.  
We tolerated our 3 day stay but would never return to this place. In short- it is a dump!

Don’t stay here

My family (a 15 year-old and 9 year-old) and I stayed in Armory B for three days on a business/family trip. It is settled into the small town of Bolivar/Harper's ferry and we felt incredibly safe walking the well-maintained sidewalks to the town which is a fifteen minute walk away along a historic section of town. Along the way and almost across the street is a charming coffee shop and a bakery with wonderful foods for breakfast.  What a wonderful and cozy place! It offered two adjoining rooms (one with a queen bed and the other a full-size) The beds were soft and very comfortable - we all slept clean through the night. It is along the main street, however we are from the country and not used to a lot of traffic and we heard nothing all night. There is a fully equipped kitchen, a sitting room and a living room with satellite TV and comfortable, soft couches. There is also fast Wi-fi in the living area. My kids had a great time. The place was immaculately clean and well-maintained. We had free parking in a driveway which made it nice, too. In town, there is little to no parking so driving downtown was not an option. It is also within a short distance of a major battlefield and trails. If I had to point out a few things that stuck out, it was the management's ability to accommodate us with all the nice things, the close proximity to town (It is a beautiful walk) and the coziness.

Armory B - Cozy, Safe and Wonderfully Close to Town and Friendly Eateries and Coffee Shop-

The house is split into two rentals - A and B. We stayed in B over the holiday weekend and had a very nice time. The highlights are the location, which is on a quiet street maybe a 10 minute walk to the center of town and ample parking at the house (leave your car and walk into town or to a number of nearby trail heads). A number of eateries are even closer. I booked at the last minute over the phone and received great communication from the property manager - she promptly sent a confirmation and another email with the access code and links to events happening on the weekend. B has two bedrooms upstairs (you must pass through one to get to the other, so this may not be appropriate for sharing unless you are very close friends), 1 full bath and 1 powder room, a full kitchen with coffee maker, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, etc. The washer and dryer came in handy after a hike in the rain. Also there is a decent television with cable in the living room. 

Regarding areas for improvement - general cleanliness was acceptable but not amazing (we had to change the sheets prior to sleeping in one of the beds because they were dirty - not slept-in dirty but actual dirt was somehow in the bed almost as if it were sprinkled there?), stairs are very steep and spiral and the only full bath is upstairs (if you were traveling with someone who has trouble climbing up and down treacherous stairs, this is not for you). The walls between A and B are fairly thin - our neighbors were thankfully not party animals but we would have had problems if they had been. 

All in all, if this type of property meets your needs, Armory B presents a unique opportunity to stay in an 1820s house with the flexibility walking most places and cooking yourself if you are so inclined (local eateries are priced for tourists and generally not great in service or quality). 

Pleasant stay in Armory Quarters B

Upon walking in to the house, the first thing that I noticed was the musty smell.  As I walked around, I realized that it was fairly dirty.  There were mouse droppings in the kitchen drawer, dirt on the floors, dead bugs, and hair/dirt in the shower.  The bedroom was cleaner, and the bedding seemed very clean.  

I kept my shoes on the entire time, because I didn't feel that the floors were clean enough to go barefoot or in sock feet.  

I wouldn't mind staying here again, but it would certainly be more enjoyable if it were cleaner!   

Cute Little House, but Not Very Clean

This is a small one bed room apartment with a futon in the living room. It is about 1/2 mile +\- from Lower Town. One of two units in this Civil War vintage home, the apartment was clean and with just about everything you need except for dish cloth s and a toaster. I'm leaving a note and am certain that  those issues will be addressed. We enjoy staying in accommodations like this, however folks looking for a antiseptic,sterile motel might want to look further down the road. 

In lovely Bolivar

My husband and I stayed in the Armory Quarters A this past week.  The house was so quaint.  It looked to be from the 1800's and was huge!  It came with a living room, kitchen, backyard, upstairs bedroom with bathroom then another floor with an attic, which could probably be used for another bedroom.  In front was a cute little porch.  The location was ideal!  Near Harper's Ferry downtown and very close to the Appalachian Trail, which is why we booked this rental.  The house provided everything we needed including a kitchen stocked with dishes, pots, pans and cooking utensils.  We felt so homey here.  What really stood out, though was when we accidentally locked ourselves out of the house and the management quickly came to let us in. They used all means necessary to open the door, while keeping a smile on their faces the whole time.  They were incredibly kind and friendly and never once made us feel bad.  In fact, they were very welcoming and simply wanted us to enjoy our stay.  I'd definitely recommend this house for your next trip!  Plus, the rates were very reasonable.
