What was bad

I arrived at 2:25pm and was told if I wanted to check-in before 3pm then I would have to pay a $50 early check-in fee. Welcome to Candlewood. Not only was this a sour note for a first impression, it created a backlog at 3pm for all the people who were told the same thing. So people waited until 3pm only to wait until 3:15pm for their chance to check-in. Just say the room isn't ready rather than try to nickle and dime customers (especially first time customers.) I have stayed in several hundred hotels and never was told this before. Terrible policy, terrible marketing and terrible business practice. Whoever thought that was a good idea should look for a different job.
