Beautiful location, personalized service beyond expectations (the chef had his recipe for autumn cream soup ready for me when I was leaving), tasty meals, fascinating history, comfortable bed and bath - what's not to like?  Our only regret was not having the time to explore the area which  appears to be pretty spectacular.  Tips: pop for one of the suites and ask for a table by the window for dinner.

Peaceful Retreat

We have stayed at many B&Bs, but the Clark House is surely one of the best anywhere.  It is a completely restored home/mansion of over 100 years old, built by a mining baron and his wife that somewhere in the 50's fell into disrepair and was to have been demonlished, only to have the current owner buy the property and do an astonishingj restoration.  It is now an absolutely lovely, stately, elegant, stunning, gorgeous home with expansive grounds leading down to Hayden Lake.  Deer roamed the ground in the early evening.  The service in impeccable and welcoming.  Kevin, the chef and Mr. Everything I think, is most personable, giving us a tour.  I would recomment spending the extra $30-$50 for one of their suites over the less expensive rooms.  You won't regret it.  You will likely remember your stay forever, so what is anotherk #0-$50?  We were shown all and loved them all.  I don't know which one I would choose next time.  We had dinner here as well last night and were treated to a 3 course meal featuring sockeye salmon cooked to perfection.  There are always 3 choices of a fish, chicken and beef dish.  Dinner includes soup or salad, entree with starch and vegetables and dessert.  The restoration of this property most have cost a fortune.  Stay, and hear the story and you will understand.  This ranks up with the top B&Bs likely in the country I suspect.  You will not be disappointed.

I attended an outdoor dinner and piano bar with a group at the Clark House.  The food was absolutely wonderful.  The house is an old mansion that has been remodeled back to its era and is beautiful.  We were well waited on and couldn't have asked for a more pleasant evening.  I look forward to going back.  Did not use the hotel accommodations but strolling through the house....it appears to be very laid back and a beautiful view of the lake.

Clark House - Hayden Lake Idho (Hotel/Bed n Breakfast)

We spent two nights recently at the Clark House.   Our room was very roomy and comfortable and clean.   A great view of Hayden Lake from our balcony as well as a family of deer grazing on the lawn were provided.   Staff were generally very nice to us although it did seem that "piano bar" night took precedence over the importance of guests staying there.    We had 2 breakfasts and both were superb.   One dinner in the dining room and one dinner outside with the piano entertainer.   The latter was a much better value but all of the food was excellent.   The place is sort of tough to find and out of the way but it is a quite peaceful area.

Clark House is a step back in time, set on the lake and surrounded by natural beauty, for us it was all about the grand home and its delightful host. Mark met us at the door with enthusiasm and a graciousness that was unmatched in a 4 week tour that took us from Chicago to Seattle. The home has been restored with loving care, Mark lives and breathes the romance of an era gone by, we shared stories around the fire long into the night, he is captivating, We were all captivated by the history of the house and it's family, I wished I could have stayed forever. The rooms at the manor are all beautifully appointed, we had The Hayden Lake Suite and our daughter the Cedar Suite, both beautiful and with charming bathrooms and a huge bath in each! Beds are comfortable and the nights are exceptionally quiet due to the manors position amongst the fir trees and rolling green lawns. As a guest there is nowhere that is off limits, when we arrived we were escorted around the home and introduced to the chef and kitchen staff and told to enjoy the kitchen and anything in it whenever we chose! Breakfast was served in the morning at quaint little tables, beautifully set with fine china and white cloths. Fresh fruit salad to start followed by delicious light fluffy pancakes with blueberries and ham on the side - yummy! There are so many places to relax and read or chat with friends (newly met) also a grand piano in case you are accomplished in the field! Outdoors you can stroll around amongst deer and just enjoy the fresh air and peace and quiet or melt into the comfy veranda sofas, read your book, daydream of romantic eras gone by or just sneakily snooze! We are from so far away but if there is one place in the world I would spend the rest of my life trying to get back to - this is it! Mark is like a long lost brother to all who are so blessed and fortunate to come his way. If art is your thing this house is a standing monument to the works of Jack McCullagh - one of Walt Disney's most celebrated artists. He painted the history of the house in murals all over the walls and ceilings - I expect it will, in time, be a priceless celebration of his work, if it isn't already. We loved everything about this beautiful home and all it's wonderful staff, if you have any chance at all of getting there you will never regret it or forget it!!!
