Holmes Beach

Our family was able to squeeze in a second trip to this complex.  The grounds and pool are very well maintained.  The location is fantastic right on the gulf.  Every single night there was a special sunset of colors that are too beautiful for words.   We chose to stay on the poolside and we all loved it.  Kids enjoyed the pool and the tennis court when we weren’t parked in the sand.  Unit 118 was completely comfortable and kitchen was well equipped-  nothing tastes better than a cup of coffee whilst walking on the beach.   Highly recommended this location and we look forward to our next visit.  Only regret was not renting bikes or bringing our own- many families were biking and it looked like so much fun.  

Summertime Adventure!   

Let me first say that I have been to the Nautilus a few times, my late mother in law starting coming here in the 70's.

I booked unit 112 for two weeks many months in advance. I choose the unit because of the location, and it was updated.
When we arrived, Fritz informed me that the owners of 112 pulled it from renting. This is not acceptable. I signed a contract, what is the point of reserving a unit if the owner isn't going to honor it. Fritz never called me to see if I was ok with this or give me the option of a refund and based on the condition of 108, I know why.
He put us in unit 114, which is not gulf front the first week and then to 108 (gulf front) 2nd week. Unit 114 was nice and updated, however 108 was a huge disappointment!
The sofa was disgusting, had to go to the thrift store to buy a cover and then wash it before we would even sit down. All the furniture was dated. The master bathroom was gross with mold on the walls and no shower head. The sliding glass door was ridiculously difficult to open, and would not lock so a stick was provided to keep it secure.
Fritz also went on vacation during my stay, left me a note that he would call with instructions on the 2nd week. He never did, so I called(yes after hours) and he was extremely rude.
I waited a while to post this, because I didn't want to be angry when I wrote this, but I also don't want others to have the same bad experience we did.
Fritz did refund me a couple hundred bucks for the difference of gulf front for the fist week, but he should have called to give me the option. Please beware, Fritz is not looking out for the customer, I will never return to the Nautilus ,there are plenty of great places to stay on the island.

Very Disappointed

Newly renovated and well kept unit (103) with unparalleled access to a pristine and private beach.   If you have never seen a sunset from a place like this you are in for a treat.   Perfect pool option onsite.     The island has much to see if you can tear yourself away from this spot.    The price makes this a hidden gem.    Cannot see why anyone would not have this place and unit as a first choice.

Paradise

We rented from a guy on air bnb. The office manager was nice and knowledgeable. The area is not so busy. We met another family that owned the condo a few doors down. 
Our unit was clean a bit dated but not crazy outdated. It was basic and was clean. It was  literally 25 steps to the beautiful white sands  beaches of the gulf. 
I unfortunately didn't make it to bean point however it will be on my must do next time. 
Local seafood in Cortez villages is amazing. Easy to get around has everything you need if you forgot. But the location was far enough away to make ot seem like it was old florda island living.

We plan on makeing it our beach time annually now.

I have stayed at these condos many times over the years from the 1970's to present.  We have always been very pleased and have had no complaints with our units, their cleanliness, or the property.   It is centrally located in the middle of the island and the property sits directly on a wide, beautiful stretch of Holmes Beach.  

Fritz, the manager has always been very helpful and honest in answering any questions regarding units that are being considered.  They are each individually owned and decorated, so you will find variations from great ones to units that need updated.  There are also plenty of photos posted on the website for each unit to review prior to booking, so there should be no surprise when you arrive as to what your unit will look like.  Remember that a picture is worth a thousand words.  Take the time to review them so you can make an informed choice.  All units are 2 BR, 2 bath, full kitchen, living room, dining room.

The beach and the location are the stars of this property.  A classic Anna Maria Island gem and a favorite of many returning guests!

My happy place

First of all - the only reason I'm giving this place a 2 star rating instead of a 1 (or a negative rating if possible) is because the view and location of this ground-floor, beach front property are amazing; that is it's only saving grace. This unit is so out of date and dirty that it is a crime that the owners don't put more effort into maintaining it -  and truly - for a very small amount of money-  less than two week's revenue - which was around $2800 for the week in August we stayed there - the owners (aka criminals) could make the place pleasant if not at least tolerable. 
1) New coffee pot please! the current one - a garage sale model Mr. Coffee or the like - overflowed and spewed every single morning. A new Mr. Coffee is about $30 at Bed, Bath, & Beyond and I'll even send you a $10 off of $30 coupon if you're that destitute - OR - make that customer feel special and buy the unit a Keurig - you can get on of those at Costco for $100

2) a new kitchen trash can; the current one had no lid - it was a beat up rubber maid- and the very first time I took out the trash the bottom was full of cheese & lettuce - the folks who checked out before us clearly had tacos on Friday; and the cleaning staff (joke) didn't clean out the trash can. Cost of deluxe metal trash can with step lid - $80

3) the sheets in the main bedroom were MISS-MATCHED!! If that dosen't creep you out!! and the mattress was unaccectable. New mattress & sheets - I'd say about $500 if you stick to Sam's or Costco

4) 8 different light bulbs were burned out...seriously??? I actually paid for this dump? Box of light bulbs: $10

5) lots of dead bugs in the domes of light fixtures - I'm sure housekeeping (or is it Fritz the Ditz who avoided us all week?) hasn't looked at these all summer. Cost to clean these: $10?? 

6) broken lamp in the living room Cost to replace $100

7) the Sliding glass door going out to the beach ARE UNACCEPTABLE - I have no idea what it would cost to install a new one - let's say $2000

8) new twin mattress and sheets for second bedroom Cost $400

9) how about some bowls with lids (not a single matching container with lid in the whole dump)  Cost for a 30 piece set at Bed, Bath, & Beyond - $33 - and I'll send you a coupon for that too which would get your cost down to $23

10) my son said the den furniture looked like it was taken from the set of This Is Us - when they flash back to the 70's - it was absolutely disgusting. Cost for faux leather den furnite - I figure that'd be water resistant - and I totally get that beach guests are hard on furniture - but for Heaven's sakes don't charge so much for a dive if you aren't willing to put money into it every now and then!!   Cost: (and I"m guessing HIGH here) $2500

11) shower head in master bath was awful - head was about 2" in diameter - we bought one to use for the week - put the old one back on - cost - $60 - and we took it home with us b/c you sure didn't deserve it

so for $5,680 -  - LESS THAN TWO WEEK'S REVENUE - you could make this place go from being a CREEPY  vacation to a pleasant one -

Fritz NEVER checked on us - we went by the office twice - never there - we never spoke to him the entire trip - we approached him once from the beach one day and I swear it looked like he ran from us - not sure what you pay him to do - but he should handle most of the things on this wish list. 

I will NEVER stay in this unit again - go see unit #116 for ideas on upkeep and decorations - the owners of unit #108 are CROOKS

A perfect location- Holmes Beach hosts the most amazing beach and a short bike ride to charming town of Anna Maria or use the free trolley!   Fritz is the kindest manager who makes you feel right at home.  The units are comfortable and relaxing.  We like that you are steps away from either the pool or the gulf- you can spend you days going back and forth.  Many wonderful restaurants and our favorite is to enjoy a bottle of wine and our own condo kitchen.  Can't wait to return.  We stayed in unit 118.

So relaxing, we enjoyed the beach, the pool and the charming town!

Been going to Nautilus for 17 years. My kids learned to swim in the pool. 
Location is simply stunning. The sunset is something you’ll never forget.
Look at the photos when you book. Some apartments are a bit tired and could use a little TLC. The apartments we have rented over the years have all been great, both beachfront and poolside.
Fritz & Dena are very helpful and friendly and we’ve already booked for next year.

Little bit of paradise

We've stayed at the Nautilus probably 10 times now. The condos themselves vary greatly as they're individually owned, some are much nicer than others. End of the day...it's nothing high end, but it's well managed Fritz has been there over 30 years the location cannot be beat, direct beach access or even beach views! The distance from the beach to the condo to the pool is about 200' so it's as good as it gets. Again, not high end, but we are pretty fussy and the location and amenities are excellent! Prices are too low LOL

Fantastic get away!

We loved our vacation here.  We stayed in unit 118 and the decor was very unique and was well equipped.  The pool is very clean and the perfect hangout spot for our family.  The beach is beautiful and being so close is a plus.  The trolly stop is close and a great option to explore the island.  We will definitely stay here again.
