BEWARE.  This place is a nasty dump.  We rented two rooms for our immediate family for a wedding in town in August of 2024.    Our room was old and dirty.   We found gross stains on the bed sheets that looked like blood stains or some sort of unknown other secretion.    When I complained to the cleaning lady Tammy (no manager on duty)  she blamed it on another staff member and had the sheets changed.    Our shower drain also didn’t work and backed up 3-4 inches while showering.   There were numerous cob webs throughout the room, and the ceiling above the toilet was caving in.  The door frame leading into the room was all busted in and had to be pushed extremely hard to get into the room.   
Our son and his girlfriend’s room smelled strong of cigarette smoke with bleach trying to cover it up.  The floor was torn up, there was hair and dust all over the room and the shower was gross.  I complained to the cleaning lady about this as well and her comment was that she is a smoker and the other cleaning lady vapes so they couldn’t smell it.  
The common areas outside the motel rooms (as well as the stairs going up to the second floor) were absolute filth and looked like they hadn’t been swept or vacuumed in years.  
When we were checking out I asked to speak to the manager and/or owner, but was told that neither of them was available.  They charged $188 a night per room for this dump so I had asked for some of my money back.  I was given the run around and told that the manager only worked two days a week so I would have to stop back or call when she was working.   It took me 5 days to get ahold of the manager Jenn Matthews.  I voiced my disgust to the manager and she claimed that she didn’t have the authority to reimburse me.   She stated that she would call the owner (Leonard Schwartz) and get right back to me.   Jenn told me that she had worked for Lenard for 13 years and she highly doubted that he would give me any money back.   That was eleven days ago and still no word from anyone.  
There were prior review complaints of bed bugs at this place and a few people that we knew had stayed here during the same time frame as us had unknown bites on them.   As a precaution we had to leave our bags and belongings on our back porch for 3 days when we got home and then wash everything in hot water.  
I talked to multiple business people around the village and was told that they house Social Services individuals at the Wayne Inn and that the police frequent the establishment for domestics as well as drug and drunk complaints.

Beware.  Gross place

I came to town for a wedding in August and stayed here since the venue was in walking distance of the hotel. When we walked into the room it was disgusting. The old dingy carpet looked like it had never been washed, it smelled bad, and the room was so damp you felt it when you slid into bed at night. We had rented a bunch of rooms and all of them were the same, if not worse condition. 
I was appalled at the price for what this room was. At $185/night it should’ve been much cheaper.
There was local people that looked as if they lived there and hung out outside next to your cars. Which was sketchy. 
When they “cleaned” the rooms they would have garbage bags littering the small hallway which was already uneven and the green carpets  all ripped making it a safety hazard. 
Upon checkout we read a review stating they had bed bugs in the past; which I could totally believe. My husband and other family members staying there had woken up with a couple strange bumps on their body. We had our luggage stay outside our house for 3 days and then washed everything with hot water to prevent any bugs from entering our home. 
Stay here at your own risk.

Horrible place. Do not stay.

Pleasant staff. Our room was clean, the bed and bedding decent, had a refrigerator but no microwave or coffee maker, the drain in the shower/bathtub didn't work well, no breakfast. This is a very old motel several steps down from a Comfort Inn. My wife suspects they may house low income families. At the price we paid (over $200 for 2 nights) you would only stay here if the location suited you and you couldn't find something better. But acceptable if that is your situation.

A 50's motel

I stayed at this hotel starting September 16,2020 - April 20,2021,I have EVERY receipt proving this statement. The manager Jennifer Matthews tried to say I didn’t not pay on 3 separate occasions but because I kept all my receipts I was able to prove her wrong. 
But mind you if I did not have these receipts she would have forced me to pay a second time and this is not pocket change friends we r talking a total of $1176.00. THERE IS MORE -They also require u to have a credit card if u stay here I guess they keep it on file because after I left there were 6 different charges from this hotel each for $150.00 that’s totaling $900.00 that I did NOT consent to. I am currently in the process of taking legal action for these charges. So I ask what is going on here friends could this be bad paperwork (they have a computer) or maybe embezzlement you decide either way it’s definitely something fishy. So if u stay here and I highly recommend u DONT  use a disposable credit card and keep your receipts just incase she try’s to pull this on you. Take Care and God Bless

Something fishy going on!!

We spent a last minute July 4th weekend here to attend a family BBQ.  

Pros - decent location to walk to main street for restaurants and shops.  Beds were clean and newer, bedding and towels clean.  Air conditioner was newer and cold. Blinds looked newer. Paint and Celing tiles looked pretty fresh. The checkin and out were easy and the employees nice.  My other half liked morning coffee at the shop.  

Cons- carpet was really old and liked like it hadn't eve been cleaned, we never took off shoes except for bed. The grout in shower was moldy and the tub looked beat up. Room had a horrible smell of stale cigarettes and cat pee. It wasn't a smoking room, but the people next door smoked nonstop and there was a huge gap under the door so I think it just keep flowing in. The rooms on both sides had small yappy dogs, so maybe someone had a cat before us for that smell? 

As for the neighbors they looked to be living there? 2 adults,2 kids and a dog. Several other people looked to be living there too. Kind of sketchy. The Visitors were easy to spot by the confused looks on their faces. 

This place was the only place available at the last minute at 265  for 2 nights. That's about 150 more then it should be when the space is shared with longterm tenants, they certainly aren't paying that nightly.

The owners seem  to be trying to spruce up the place. Replacing the carpet with a hard material that can be cleaned ( especially when allowing animals) an updated tub and vanity and replace the upholstered chair( also filthy) would go a long way. But honestly do they want it to be a model or a rooming house?

Could be Much  Better

My wife and I spent 2 nights at this hotel.  It's in a great location on a hill overlooking the really beautiful city.  I'm so happy we found this place.  There's a cute little cafe attached to the hotel for coffee in the morning and everyone we met there was super friendly. I definitely hope to come back here someday soon.

Spent 2 great nights here

Roomed here 9/23/2019 and it was not what we expected. It ranks below a Motel 6 (we will not stay in that chain!) and a 3-Star rating is extremenly generous.

The photo of the property is inaccurate. The parking lot/driveway has to be replaced. It hasn't been paved in years and is not marked for parking. Their photo of the property is misleading.

Room #111 contained a small TV which was complicated to operate (we asked the desk clerk for help and it was temporarily solved). The room's phone was tucked under the small TV table and found by chance. The molding in the niche which contained the sunk was dirty. No stopper in the sink. We had to go to the front desk for soap (couldn't call because we hadn't discovered the phone yet). The door was secured with a lock and a door chain (I tightened that!) - the doorknob didn't operate. The cover for the HVAC was broken and on the window sill. There was an armchair and the arms need serious tightening. No in-room coffee (the restaurant isn't open for breakfast). Only two pillows were provided. Overall, the room was dingy - matching the exterior.

Unfortunately, accomodations in this area, including Hawley, are few. This certainly wasn't worth the $67+tax paid. The alternatives were $45 and more per night. The Wayne Inn is owned by the Wayne Hotel and the rates there were $45/night higher. If the Hotel is maintained like they maintain the Inn - Oh, boy! 

Our advice: Suck-it-up and stay at a  local B&B.

Very Dissapointing!

Right off I want to say that it wasn't 'that' bad.  Poorly maintained facility (ceiling tiles falling apart, sink drains busted, coax wall plates hanging out of the wall, carpet pulled away from the carpet tack strips that I cut my foot on the little razor spikes sticking up by both the bathroom and front entrance) that is WAY over priced for the room and the location.  My sheets were clean, my shower was hot, the desk staff were courteous, just not a good value.  

More of a $29/night Inn.... poorly maintained facility.

I emailed hotel about my experience before writing a review but they did not respond. there  was a strong mold odor when we entered the room. You see water damage on walls and filing. Room was dirty and so were towels. No soap in room. It looks like some wooden boards were nailed up in the bathroom instead of any attempt for a new sink area. This was not a value for the price that we paid ($250 for 2 nights). No response or even partial refund for any of this. Price is ridiculous for the room. This was worth maybe $40 nightly- not over $100. Staff was very polite but nothing they can do.....  the only good thing about this place is location.

Not even up to motel standards

My wife and I (from Australia) stayed at the Wayne Inn recently while we supported our daughter through an illness in Honesdale. We were not sure how long we were going to be there, however, the staff in reception were so accommodating and compassionate that it took the worry of accommodation away from us, allowing us to focus on our family. Although the hotel rooms are dated, (this is not the Hilton), they are comfortable and are spacious enough for two people. Every request was met with politeness and sincerity and we can’t thank the staff enough for the assistance they gave us. I have read many adverse reviews for the property, however, I can not speak highly enough of the staff. Thank you, Wayne Inn, for looking after our family! KB
