this hotel has a good location to get to restaurants and to grand central plaza. pricing is good per night. could use better bedding and do better cleaning the rooms. could do better at making the property more presentable. and no chairs to sit outside with. the ac works wonders to cool down the room during those hot days.

good location

Very creepy old place. Probably built in the 60’s and nothing has ever been updated ever since. Stains on the pillows. Internet was very spotty. AC/heating unit was very loud making it difficult to sleep. Overall felt very uncomfortable and couldn’t wait to check out .

Worst place I’ve ever stayed

I am here at red carpet Inn for a few days. then came back and got a room for three days on the fourth day ! I was wondering about the other door if it was  Secure  To my surprise it opened right up ! as I look to see a man sleeping in his room! And saw Drugs and Needles! 
I just couldn’t believe that I’ve been staying in the room for three days and the other doors unlocked! ( My Side Has NO LOCK  !) I called red carpet Inn and  spoke with the owner.I Explain the situation and I’ll be back in an hour or so and wasn’t sure I would like something done. Call him when I returned and he played it off like the other room is now  Locked ? I called because I wanted to be  ABLE to Lock Mine !!!!!!!!! and he told me it was all good! I again stated that I’m not safe And my doors are not Locked ! He told me not to come back Again!  First if you’re lucky you’ll Get a receipt for what you paid! Second there are no breakfast ! And third all the Wiring is done With no permit from the city so you could Burn up in Electrical fire ! This is not something that I wish to put my time into it I am going to contact the city of Horseheads not having a permit to the wiring lights out! I want and need a receipt so I’m going to contact the state of New York and the federal government to see if they’re paying there  taxes!   There Dots on there Head Better Align ! With Pulling Permits and Paying Taxes if not maybe an American can own 
This UnSAFE Place ! And Make it Safe and Pay the Taxes they are Evading! 
Oh there is NO Internet ! They give you a Password. After 10 times I called was told not putting the Right ! Went to Office to get Finally the truth the owners been down for two months The equipment is not working! Was given a day free after telling them what was wrong! To this day there is no Internet at red carpet Inn ! Nor no such  Continental breakfast! Pictures on the websites are pictures of other hotels .  
With a little help the city state and federal government will close this place down.
If you want cheap and UnSAFE You Got It !   I would rather sleep in my truck and be safe!    Be Safe Don’t stay Here Red Roof INN

unsafe to STAY ! Beware. you think your room door is  locked ? But the  Other door in your room is unlocked !

This place is known for drugs hookers and being run down . pit bulls running loose and dogs barking all night ..it gets worse everyday ...The cops are there all the time for fighting .....So if you are looking for drugs hookers or a cops live experience and don't mind sleeping in a run down place then this is your place

The Worse Place you Will Ever Stay

This is an older motel, yet it is comfortable and has all that we need for a good nights sleep. There is a microwave, refrigerator, nice TV, A/C heater unit and comfortable bed. Al so there is free wifi so that you can go online with your computer.

Reasonable price!

I have been in cleaner campgrounds than this place.  What I did get was clean sheets, a working TV, musty smells and enough dust and grim off the ac filter to mold my own bunny;  like full size bunny!

My allergies now require full spectrum of drugs to fight off what I took home from there.

I might have given it one star, but I figured it would be dingy based on the price.  But it was so much more for the price!  Like the disgusting stuff on the drapes I could not clearly identify without a full bio analysis, or the paper wadding stuffed into a wall hole to stop something from crawling in?!?

You get more than you didn’t pay for

So I've read these comments after staying in the place this past Monday night (July 30 2018), and I feel bad for the people having these terrible reviews up from years ago. I found the place on line by searching for the lowest-priced place in the middle of my long drive; the allure of spending the night in a place called Horseheads was part of it. It was just what I wanted it to be. The room was small and modest, with one large bed, but attractively decorated for a motel. Enough light, good lamps everywhere, fine mirror, and the very welcome feature that the unwalled, curtained shower stall was big enough for comfort and the stream of water went where one wanted it to go, not all over the floor. The door locked effectively and chained. New TV and a really good range of cable channels (the last motel I had stayed in, in Georgia in May, had a horrible limited array, mostly sports and preaching and shopping channels). I also loved the fact that when I turned the TV on, the channel that came up was PBS, though I presume this is the virtue of the last guest and not the owners. The price, in this day and age!, was indeed just $50 plus tax. Very quiet; a distant hum of traffic from the contiguous elevated part of Route 17/I-86, but a tranquil night. The mattress was harder than I like, but sleepable, and many people like that style.
Maybe they've improved it since some of these reviews. I found no stains, smells or bugs, or drug deals in the empty back lot. (And I would have noticed: I'm a night person and stayed up till four in the morning, and there was nobody.). The little refrigerator was a tad noisy, but welcome because I was carrying a lot of perishable food (emptied my refrigerator for the trip), and it cooled it down beautifully for a midnight snack. The only major deficiency was that the tabletop of the little round table with built-in lamp was wobbly, poorly attached to the central leg. Also the key card to the first room I was given didn't work, and the man had to give me another room, but I've had that elsewhere.
I also noticed the odd fact that I seemed to be almost the only customer there. The man at the desk seemed surprised to see me. The parking lot was empty except for one other car. I wondered whether I was SUPPOSED to be there. But I see from the reviews that this has been an ongoing situation at this place. Yes, I too thought of the immortal name of the Bates Motel, and it seems to be the same situation: the new Interstate sidelined the location. (if you get off I-86 at the nearby exit, there are several other cheap motels between you and this place.) But Norman wasn't around.
If this forlorn paucity of customers has been going on for years, I don't see how they stay in business. But if the nice man who was at the desk when I came in at 10 p.m., and was there again, friendly and helpful about my mail, when I left at 11 a.m., is the owner the other decent reviews talked about, possibly they own the place mortgage free and can hang on. Anyway, if your priority is to have a nice modest room to sleep in for the lowest price, I found almost nothing wrong with this place for that purpose. Indeed, after some of these reviews I feel a sort of underdog affection for it.

Perfectly satisfactory!

Arriving at Motel we were greeted by the pleasant owner. Room was clean but in much need of updating. Bathroom was clean and there was plenty of hot water for shower. Mirror needs replacement. Shower area had mold. Had to unplug Fridge due to making making too much noise to sleep. Continental breakfast could have been better. Packaged pastries, orange juice and coffee was all that was offered. It could use a hot item even fresh bagels, bread or English Muffins with a toaster. Stayed there twice before but will be last time even though price was right but still not enough value.

Right price ,but did not equal value

Hotel room were not cleaned , wall & window has spiders web, but you get what you pay. For the breakfast you do not have multiple choice other than donuts. This was the cheapest hotel available online around Watkins glen. Yeah glen state park is 12mins drive from there and that's the best part of it.
