Looks like they just replaced the furniture, looked nice . The room was clean but older . Had a nice quiet stay . The young lady at front desk was pleasant and very helpful. Onsite bait shop with minnows is a plus. I ran a motel , I know how disrespectful people can be but it hasn’t seemed to bother them.

Not a bad place to stay

I've stayed at this motel for the last 15 years and this will be the last time. It's has become so run down since the new owners have taken over. It really seems like an apartment complex for low rent people. Almost impossible to sleep at night because all the non English speaking people yelling , screaming and singing outside. I wouldn't care if it was before let's say 10 but it's after 11 and it's impossible to sleep w all the noise. Also there is just trash and junk everywhere outside. You have been warned. I'd rather sleep in my truck in a parking lot than stay here again.

I don’t think I have ever experienced a place with such poor customer service. My girlfriend left a pair of jeans there, so she called the next day. The owner asked her if she was able to read! I guess it is posted they throw away anything left behind, which okay.. but do not belittle customers like that. I will never stay there again. I don’t how they stay open. We left very early in fear something was going to crawl on us. Spend a little extra and stay somewhere else.

Rude owner

Im from Shelbyville so I'm very familiar with the spillway hotel. I've never really had a problem with the hotel itself; you can't beat the price for the quality of the hotel i guess you could say. I've stayed in a lot worse. About a month ago; the owners wife decided that she was going to get about an inch away from my face and scream at the top of her lungs at me. This woman called me everything but my name. From a nasty "c" and beyond.. excuse my language but there's really no good description for the names she called me. All because this woman's grown adult (20) niece and I got into a heated altercation (outside of the business she runs). The hotel was BOOKED the day she did this. Fourth of July weekend. Everyone was outside grilling, playing games .. literally EVERYONE was outside. This woman was threatening me up one side and down another. While everyone there stood and watched her make a fool of herself. That same night she attacked a girl the same age as her niece and beat her up while someone held the girl down. The whole time this woman is yelling profanities and threats at me, I'm calmly asking if she wanted to know the truth of what happened. Never once did I yell back, or curse at her. I let her make herself look like a fool. 
Now today... my boyfriends car overheats due to a blown head gasket. When it overheats,  it needs jumped to start.  He parked in the back of the hotel,  walked up and seen his son who is staying in a room there at the moment. We go to leave and the car is in the red overheating.  This woman sticks her head out of the door, sees me and instantly loses her cool.  Once again,  numerous people are outside and listening to her call me names and threaten to call the cops.  

Mind you... this is over a personal issue with someone else (yes,  someone she's related to.. but not her) that she is bringing up and making a scene over at her place of business.  Highly unprofessional and extremely unnecessary.  I sincerely apologize to anyone that had to listen to her act like she was a hyped up,  strung out,  hood teenager or even deal with her afterwards.  I used to highly recommend the spillway to anyone needing a room,  but now I could care less if the dam breaks.  

Maybe if the hotel were to get different owners and management,  Itd be worth a stay.

Awful.

This place needs to be shut down! Filthy, roaches and unclean rooms/bedding! There were stains on EVERYTHING! Dog and cat crap outside everywhere. Not to mention the fireworks they set off outside our door throughout the night!  Other places booked or we would’ve gone elsewhere! We won’t recommend to anyone!

No! Just No!

New owners who really don't care. Made a reservation over the phone, told them we had a small dog and they said OK $10 extra so we booked. Room was #23 at the end of the building and hasn't been updated or probably even cleaned for a long, long time. Carpet filthy, fridge dirty, bedspreads from 1965, bathroom gross. They do not have maid service if you stay more than one night so if you want clean towels you have to ASK.  Wi-fi didn't work. A barefoot employee brought them but that's it. No TP, vac, soap or anything for multiple day stay. Would have left but couldn't get another place and were committed for weekend. To top it off they later billed our credit card an extra $75 for pet fee. Total rip off - don't stay here!!!

Don't bother

Room needed cleaning,painting and new pillows and sheets.

Very very unkept.

Air-conditioning worked well,T.V. nice, outside well kept. 

Lampshades torn, electrical plugs old and dirty.  Burn hole in sheets.  

This motel is very rundown.  Its clean but has a lot of things broken.  Rooms are around 60.00 a night which seems to much but the location is wonderful.  Close to lake shelbyville, the beach is a 5 minute drive. There is fishing within walking distance

Family reunion

Very "Mom & Pop".  Some will like that, some will not.  Excellent access to tailrace area, Bait Shop on property, and bait shop at nearby campground.  Right on the edge of town, too, for the non-angler.  Bathroom shows some deterioration and building seems to be settling, as would be expected in an older property.  Overall great stay and amazing value.  Didnt even realize there was a full refrigerator by the front door!

Very "Mom & Pop".

The location is close to the lower end of the lake.  There is ample room to park tow vehicles and trailers.  There are electric hookups outside to charge batteries.  The room was clean and served its purpose.  It practical not fancy.
