I called a few weeks before my trip to reserve a room for my visit. I booked one with two twins and was told it would be $80, but it if I got a queen it'd be $70. The man I spoke with didn't for any information about me or for payment, so I asked if he how he'd keep my reservation. At that point, he asked for my name and phone number. I asked if he needed my credit card number, and he said, no. That seemed strange to me, but I went with it. 

About five days before my trip I got a voice message from him saying that all the rooms were booked for the days of my trip and asked me to call back. 

I called back and he still said they were all booked, but there were two rooms available with a single queen. I said that was fine. 

When I got there he ran my card and gave me the receipt. He had charged it $160, or $80/night.  I said that when we talked he'd said a single queen would be $70/night.  He said that it was more expensive on the weekends, even though he had quoted me those prices knowing I'd be there Friday and Saturday. I was annoyed, but I wasn't going to fight over $20. 

He gave me the key and I went to the room. It smelled like a mix between smoke and body odor. The furniture had seen better days, the bed was uncomfortable, the tiling in the bathroom near the sink was all broken and falling apart, and the two towel racks were broken or completely missing. 

He came by a few minutes later and pointed out the broken tile in the bathroom and said it was fine because it wouldn't affect anything. 

As he walked out he gave me a $10 bill. He didn't explain it. I don't know if he felt bad for lying about the prices, or if he was trying to make up for the terrible state the room was in. 

I would not recommend anyone stay here, unless you're in an absolute pinch.

Disaster All Around

Filthy and Smokey.  Girl at desk said they only take cash even though I paid online.  Refused my reservation till I called the company.  The room was very very smoky and very damaged including the door locks because they were broken off. I was also told I was homeless that’s why she wanted cash.  Lol.  Either way believe my review is not tainted. It was very smoky to run down location not being taken care of. 

Don’t trust. Refused my paid reservation. 

My son, my 2 dogs, & myself was unfortunate to stay here for 12 days. It was well cleaned with the amenities that were available.  But the man running it was obnoxious, pushy, & at times rude. He would just walk into rooms and change the price to all the time to different people. Recommend staying anywhere but here.

Extended stay

We had booked this motel for 5 nites while we visited our grandkids who live nearby but after checking the room(we checked 2 actually) we just stayed one nite while we found somewhere else to stay! Both rooms we checked smelled musty! Air conditioners in both rooms we checked were very dirty! Carpet was stained and dirty! Owner wanted to charge extra for our pet for each nite rather than just one pet charge as most motels do(didn't matter as we only stayed the one nite)! It appears the motel is being used by long term tenants as people had BBQs and furniture in front of their units! Would not recommend!

Not recommended!

Incredibly friendly front desk. Very accommodating. Room was very clean. Had to find a place close to DePauw for a visit with my daughter. College Inn fit the bill. Great staff.  Perfect location for a visit to the college. 

Great place. 

We had the hidden room, although it seemed clean there was small inconveniences. The shower head is very low, so you have to stoop to use it. There is a microwave & frig, but no hair dryer. The Wi-Fi extender did not work so I had to go out in main parking lot to use it. Also free HBO was advertised but was unavailable. Not the best place to stay but for the price and it was the only place that had a room it worked. 

It works in a pinch

Unit really needs to be gutted and completely remodeled. General appearance was disgusting!! Cover of smoke detector missing, big burn hole in blanket, few lights didn't work, bugs, toilet stool cover loose just to mention a few things

Bad choice

Totally old school, just like childhood roadsides. Old, and looked run down outside but was very clean and everything worked well. WiFi was perfect first try. Very quiet. Friendly, easygoing host. Great for a sleep while travelling through. Gave my kids a taste of the old days of simple amenities. Was a good experience.

Retro old school but good!

Keeping in mind, this is an inexpensive hotel.  For the price, it was very good.  The room was clean, quiet, had a good TV and wifi.  The room was small and a bit dark.  There was an air conditioning/heating unit that was adjustable but a bit noisy.  The main negatives:  very few amenities.  I think we got 2 very small bars of soap and 2 disposable cups and we each got a towel, washcloth and hand towel - no extras.  Also, there is no housekeeping service so you don't get any fresh towels, soap or bed made.  Also, the ice machine has a hand scoop they leave in the machine - not very sanitary.  The hotel is all one level and has doors you open to the outside.  We always found a parking place but it could be tight when the hotel is full.  No breakfast and I'm not sure about coffee.  Hotel is across the street from DePauw University and very close to pizza and KFC.  Walmart and other restaurants are about a 8 minute drive away.  I am happy to do without the extras for a good price - I would stay here again!
