Nice place to relax in front of the river. Nice patios and pool was clean. Ample room. Zack was really nice and made us feel welcomed and at home. Nice town to visit as well. It was the place we were hoping for. 

Relaxing

There is nothing more relaxing than sitting on the deck at the Riverboat Inn on a summer afternoon, sipping on a beverage and watching the boats go by on the big Ohio river. On weekend evenings there is musical entertainment, and the atmosphere is much fun!

They have a wide variety of rooms available. We chose a second floor suite facing the river, which was just perfect for our weekend getaway.

Staff was attentive and caring. A light continental breakfast is available in the mornings, including some real good coffee.

Priceless River views

This property is in the process of being renovated and updated.  It was clean and the paint was so fresh you could still smell it!  Everyone employed there went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable.  A younger couple has taken on  fixing up this Inn and are doing an awesome job with it.  I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone planning to be in Madison to have a river view place to stay overnight.

A Great Place to Spend the Night in Madison, Indiana

Newly updated rooms and they are working on the finishing up the outdoor space (mostly done).  Was very quiet.  Love the outdoor space on the decks.  Great view of the river.  They have breakfast if you need it.  Friendly Inn owners.

Impressed with the changes

The Hotel says pet friendly on their web site and we called to book a room with our small Terror.  We arrived on a Tuesday and went to our room. I have to say the room had to be the worst one in the place.  We have seen pictures of other rooms through our friend that goes often. The room we stayed in didn't look anything like the rooms on their web site. The floors were not clean, and the shower had shampoo leaking down the shower wall. The only drain was at the front of shower and looked like someone knock a hole in the floor with a hammer. The toilet was wet, and we had to wipe it dry. We were told that there are only certain rooms to go to when you have a dog. We paid the same price as someone who paid for really nice rooms on the deck. There was a woman working behind counter had a small dog and told my wife she can go around the building because we had our dog and hers was in the lobby. The women's dog was trying to attack our dog and my wife dog was on a leash and hers was not. my wife had to quickly shut the door to keep her dog from getting to our dog. With all that said, the people were very nice. we just feel like you get penalized just because you have a dog and a service dog at that. the lady with the dog gave us the impression that her dog was the only one that was allowed to be there. There was also black mold on the tile in the bathroom. We think they should reevaluate the pet friendly statement. We have stayed in really nice rooms with our dog in other hotels and found this one not the case.

River Boat Inn Stay in July 2022

Kathy and her crew were so great and funny. The rooms are somewhat small, but the hotel has a really big heart. We would highly recommend staying here. Very cozy. Sitting outside on the deck, with the view was worth the cost of the room. We had entertainment on the weekend. It was not loud at all. We were able to have a conversation while listing to the bands. Yes, the rooms are a little more than what we would pay, but so are all of the other hotels in Madison. At the bar, the price of drinks, I felt were very reasonable. A lot less than chain hotels charge. Be sure to try the Carmel Bourbon.

You have to stay here

badly needs cleaning and brightening.  the room was dark and unappealing.  the view is nice but the building and decor leave a lot to be desired.  saw several tripping hazards on the decks.  pretty dank inside.

I’m originally from Madison and I have been coming to the Riverboat for many years now and I love spending time there. Very quaint and relaxing. But this last time 12-9 & 12-10 checked out this morning. This just shocked me how disgusting the room was #111 !!! I’ve never seen such filth in the room mainly bathroom!! And the stinch of the bed, covers and pillows smelt like human body sweat that I went and bought sheets to lay over the dirty ones and fabreeze because it stunk so terribly bad!! I have so some kind of bites and rash all over my body and done nothing but itched since entering the room!!Nothing was done about it and as for getting a discount for being repeat customer I got $5.00 off!! There was no breakfast only some half warm coffee. I’m so disappointed with this that I probably won’t be back!! This saddens me!!!

Another great weekend at the Riverboat Inn. Kathy and her employees, once again, do not disappoint! Great and consistent service from the get go. Loved seeing and hearing about the most recent updates and additions, in Kathy’s unrelentless efforts to offer better and more!  Cozy room served our needs, but most of our time was spent enjoying all of Madison’s holiday festivities!  And, of course enjoying that deck!!!  Great time socializing on the deck, listening to the band, and the friendly and welcoming atmosphere between the staff, guests and locals!   And very appreciative of Kathy’s assistance in locating( within minutes) 2 of the last few remaining golf carts in town.  Riverboat is the only place we’ve ever stayed in Madison. They’ve never given us a reason to even consider going anywhere else!  Looking forward to our next visit!

Framily getaway

Had reservations for a girls weekend, which I had to cancel due to the death of my Mother-In-Law.  I called on Monday she went into Cardiac Arrest, no oxygen to her brain for 20 minutes.  I knew she would not make it through the week, which she passed just before midnight on Thursday.  I was told they have a 7 day cancellation policy, said they would try to rent out if possible.  I don't think this happened because of everything else that happened.  Thursday I called and they did not rent out, she asked did I want to cancel of course I wasn't going to get a refund nor was I able to reschedule.    My friend that was going with me, called on Friday and explained the situation again, asking if they would allow us to reschedule.  The clerk stated that she would need to talk to the Manager, due to the situation they should be able to do something.  On Saturday still no return call, she gave them one more chance and called back talking to the Manager.  They states I seen the message just not sure what we were supposed to do...  they thought my husband passed (which to me that is even worse).  At this time they needed to talk to Manager to see if they would allow to reschedule.  Today is Monday and no one has returned any calls.  I just feel they could have been a little more sensitive due to the circumstances.
