This is the BEST Motel to use as a Backdrop location for your Fine Art Photography. While it's not necessarily the coziest around, it's cheap and I think you can rent by the hour. The bed cover was dark browns with hues of saturated dark orange, there was a plastic cover underneath the clean bed sheet that made a creepy noise when you moved on them and of course, they were conducive to sweating, which may help with your model's demeanor. The bathroom was fine, although it appeared there were corpse flies buzzing above the tub drain, the towels were clean. The walls are a dark conifer green and compliment a redhead's hair and skin tone. The staff was amenable enough, but we only stayed for a couple of hours so I never mingled with them at all. The other guests were friendly enough, no fear or paranoia, even navigating the dark halls to the room.
All in all, I wouldn't love staying here, but if it's handy for whatever reason you may have, I'd drop the very inexpensive rate and try it a night. Depends on how adventurous you're feeling- I know Anthony Hopkins would love this place! Here's a link to a photo I shot here: (link removed by management).

Pretty great place for a quick stay

The hotel staff are rude and not helpful.  I got a lecture about if I damaged the room they would bill me. The register cover was laying in the floor. The sheets and towels were stained. Not very comfortable. There was a shampoo bottle half empty as part of the toiletries.

Don’t stay here.

Considering local impression and comparison it is one of the best hotels in Indianapolis. Location is good. Food quality is average compared to prices. Rooms quality is fine. Ambiance is average. Staff was courteous and cooperative generally. Breakfast was good in variety and taste. Sam and Zee makes your stay comfortable as their services are excellent and as compare to my expectations they are doing a great job

My stay was worth it

This hotel should not listed… It was a flop house, saw drug deals in parking lot, and prostitution. This place is a junkie haven, it’s so bad that they live in the hotel. Very unsafe. Residents have their doors open. I can’t believe that this hotel is on websites…

The TV did not work they have bugs in the bathtub they had no towels it was disgusting I'll never be back it was still feed Jordi it was dirty yuck never grow hair again bugs was crawling on the walls sick

Mr miss

Considering they are remodeling, and in the morning I noticed the big picture windows don’t lock, when I left they accused me of stealing a flatscreen and bed spread. Charged my card $150 without notifying me. Had I not checked my account I would not have known. Also, the a/c had years of dirt caked on it and my bed sheets had a huge stain. Also, the lady gave me a choice of an old room for $43 or upgraded room for $25 more, and the $25 would be considered a deposit for the almost finished upgraded room and be refunded at checkout.

Stolen funds, Very dirty rooms.

My stay began in August.  The reviews are accurate.  I sustained several directed energy attacks which would be described as ELF or extremely low frequency.  Also gangstalking prevalent in the area throughout my stay.  IMPD East district was notified and a report was made however no detective took it seriously enough to return my call let alone investigate.  Several attempts to speak with Commander Spurgeon regarding the nature of the attack and technologies in use were futile. Criminality rampant.  Staff unprofessional.

Filthy disgusting rooms. Carpet not cleaned. Bathroom looked like a gas station...the room was horrible.. I will never go back there again. Housekeeping was horrible all the did was change sheets. Never again!!!!

Horrible Experience

So...I found it online in a last ditch move to go to the Democratic
 Convention last June....I waited til the last minute and my rez for the Airbnb downtown went to someone else...dang !
Shadeland sounded like a beautiful place near a northern section of Indy that I was familiar with....not !
Shadeland itself is a highly industrialized section of Indy that is however only about 15 minutes from downtown by freeway....and close to very wealthy shopping and residential sections of Indy if you arent afraid to move around by car....some parts are a bit scary
The Inn is a mixed bag of mostly poorer visitors...staying there with various problems that are very evident....if you are a scardy cat...dont go there....I stayed in one of the rooms in the front of the Inn....highly recommended....I was not afraid of the other guests coming and going, who on the surface, looked like 'gangsters and druggies'...many were visiting family from other states and could only afford Shadeland ...my room was large...big screen tv...refridg..bath..bed and clean....no bugs!
I arrived at midnight and decided to stick it out....inside...there is a big abandoned atrium with and abandoned pool....still nice but not usable...there is a glass enclosed restaurant attached that is also closed...so one time...it was the coolest
The front desk is Plexiglas enclosed  lol omg  but the Indian family owners are very kind to their guests, who I actually got to meet over 5 days...and I was actually glad I stayed...really....
If you are the luxury seeking type...no way...but if you want to save money and have a sense of humor.....stay in the front rooms...but go for it.....then spend the money you saved on horribly overpriced Indy hotels on a lovely restaurant not far from the Shadeland Inn.....ok

OK...IT IS A NOT THE GREATEST... 1960'S STYLE...BUT IT DOES HAVE SOME REDEEMING QUALITIES

Rooms are filthy. Shower hardly worked with only cool/warm water. Shower ceiling not cleaned for years. Junk dripping down side of bed uncleaned. Sink drain was stuck down, so no draining. Prostitute's & homeless wandering parking lot at all hours. Hotel insisted on keeping side doors propped open all night. Lots of people walking in and out that were not guests. We were yelled at for closing it, my family felt UNSAFE Our reservations and my step sons reservations were both messed up. From reading others comments, this is very standard evidently.  Clerk was VERY slow, and nobody spoke English to communicate with. No room services for 4 nights. No changes of sheets, clean towels, no garbage picked up. My husband was informed for clean towels he had to bring up to front desk for new ones. The ones we were given looked like they were used to wipe a truck tire down with. I am now very concerned that we may be bringing bugs home with us. This hotel IS unsafe,.it reminded me a hostel from a third world country. I am fairly certain this has to be the most run down hotel in Indianapolis. DO NOT STAY HERE! I Have already lodged a complaint with the BBB, and hope to hear back from them, this place needs to be shut down.
