Cute , place.  We stayed on a Friday night.  The room was ok. The sheets were soft, the bed was comfortable. The place supplied shampoo conditioner lotion. My only reason for giving a 4 star is that there were a lot of dead Asian beetles and one live wasp in the window. No big deal, but if I were cleaning the place I'd definitely take a shopvac to it. The owners were very hospitable. Dinner was excellent.  Free appetizer of BBQ beat tips were the bomb. Live music, not too loud. Very nice dinner. We will go back.

I happened upon this place on line while trying to book at last minute trip during a holiday weekend. The Inn is very cool. A good mix of rustic and renovated. The "backyard" is a small but nice state park. there is an awesome southern/creole restaurant with live music on the first two floors. Right on the Mississippian river and about an 40 minutes from Debuque.

Perfect place to relax

What a pleasant surprise!  Not wanting to spend a weekend "away" among all the other "weekend awayers" in Galena, we lucked into staying at The Potters Inn just 25 minutes away in Bellevue. A nice soul food restaurant with a few bedrooms upstairs ... the surprise was that the food was unbelievable!  Totally top notch cooking .... the rooms was great and the sleepy little town leads you to spend time eating ice cream while sitting on park benches on the Mississippi, hiking through the state park next door or nice drives through rolling hills and bluffs.  If you happen to be a music fan, somehow this little place has ended up on the blues map and they book some amazing bands for blues (and jazz on Sundays).

My recommendation - don't take the highway.  Take a long drive through the farmlands, leave your computer and tablets at home and spend a night or two just relaxing in Bellevue.

This is a Weekend Getaway!!!

We stayed at Potters Mill to see a great band, Markey Blue, and had a blast. The atmosphere of this unique old mill was creative and welcoming, and our room felt private and well done with a stunning view of the creek.
The best part was the AMAZING menu and entertainment and the hosts were more than accommodating. They even searched out my lost earring and mailed it back to me at home.
Thanks for a wonderful stay. Can't wait to return!



GREAT EXPERIENCE!

I never have stayed in an old mill before, but recommend you give it a try. Rustic wood mixed with amenities to make our stay comfortable made this a great experience. Mark is a super host who took time to ask questions and engage in conversation so we could learn more about the property. He also gave us some tips about what to see and invited us to dine downstairs. (Complimentary appetizer when you stay.) Nice common area to enjoy. Breakfast was not typical of other B&B but knew that before we arrived and the fresh fruit and yogurt was enough for us.
