We were welcomed as soon as we pulled in. Frank is the best host anyone could ask for. He showed us around the B&B and was happy to tell us the history of the house and the town of Ipswich. He made us feel at home and morning breakfast was fabulous. Johann was gracious and also knew the history of the town. The room was spacious and comfortable. Thank You Frank & Johann for a wonderful vacation!!

A long weekend away

This is one of the most fun, friendly and efficient  B&B's we've ever stayed in. Frank and Johann are wonderful, gracious hosts. They have a house -and gift shop- full of Americana collectables, in addition to Johann's paintings and original cards. Great place to stay!

Must stay

First off, Frank is amazing! He welcomed us, gave us a tour of the property, and made us feel like we were family. The room was cozy, and perfect for a one night stay. Breakfast was incredible. My eggs were cooked perfect, the fruit was so fresh, and his special fruit juice concoction is on my to make list tomorrow morning. His wife’s shop next door is fantastic. A must visit. And talk to both of them. They are amazing people and actually miss them. Hope to visit again soon.

Will absolutely stay again!

This is my wife’s fourth time back and my second. We stayed again in the Kings bedroom. It was everything that staying in a early colonial B and B. Should be. Frank and Johanna were excellent hosts. Frank cooked the breakfast according to our schedule and it was superb. Johanna is a local artist and historical and and excellent resource for local information. They really went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. We will be back.

Return trip to Ipswich

I am usually quite specific and even blunt in my reviews, but I find this one a little more challenging. So I must say a few things with a qualification that it is based on my experiences and my personal tastes. We only experienced one room and it was a sort of "annex" type room that does not seem to be used that often. It was not as clean as it could have been. There was quite a bit of dust, the glassware and cups were a bit dusty in side and the room had some mildew odor. However, I do have asthma and I notice these things. We were able to open many windows and a sliding glass door, which made a big difference. 

The rest of the house is chock full of overtype of antique and collectable you can imagine, which offers a lot to look at but a bit of a cluttered feeling. A very interesting aspect was needlepoint works from the 1700s. The artwork by the owner is very nice and adorns many spots in the house. 

My biggest problem was the breakfast and maybe it was unique to this period for some reason. The hot items are placed on a hotplate to keep them warm but it was not hot nor were the items placed on such, even within a few moments of serving. Pretty much everything, except for hand made juices, was from frozen pre-packaged items. This includes a quiche that I do not believe ever was hot and I just could not eat it. Some the other folks at the table were fine with it. I come from a family with 30 years B & B operation experience and the food just was not up to par compared with other spots of similar location and price.  

The grounds are nice with some gardens and outdoor sitting areas.  I believe many people will absolutely love this place. I found it intriguing, but I would not endeavor a repeat stay.
