This is a small, very reasonably priced, family owned hotel with many of the amenities of the larger hotel chains. The room included 2 beds, a table and chairs, a big screen TV, refrigerator w/freezer, WI-FI, a bathroom with shower, and parking right outside the door. The owner was kind and informative about area businesses and tourist sites. I’d stay here again.

Trip to the UP of Michigan

This motel is older but very clean. The gentleman who runs the motel is very friendly. We messed up the TV channels and he came right away to fix it for us. The motel is close to everything you would need.
 As I said it is older but they have everything you need and the price is good.


An older motel but very Nice. Great Pricel 

The Royal was exactly what I needed: a place to stay on a long drive at a good value. Friendly staff, very clean room, a good bed, and a hot shower in the morning.  Sure, the tile in the bathroom is dated and the microwave in the room is small, but I didn’t see a spec of dirt anywhere.

Clean and simple

This was rated high, not sure why. Lots of junk in check in area, we could see into the private kitchen area and it was a mess. Don’t waste your time , yes cheap but not worth it. It is dated as stated, no dogs or smoking but carpet had burn marks and guests had animals with them. Between each room was a bucket fir cigarettes, there is no was if getting away from the smell.

Checked and checked out of this motel. Stains, burn marks and not a place we like to stay at.

We love Motels run by people who care about preserving the past and accommodating the present.  Classic up north pine paneling, wonderful pink fixtures and gray tiles in the bathroom.  I see the comments about dated bathrooms, but that is what I liked best.  The rooms were warm and cozy, good space.  One room we had had a double bed and a single, perfect for a small family or friends traveling together.  The owner was gracious, helpful and very willing to help. We will stay here again next time we are up this way.

Just right

This is a small mom and pop motel. It was quiet, safe and well lit. The owners are super friendly and go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and have everything you need. The room was very clean and had all the basics. ( If you use conditioner, bring your own) Owners are in the process of doing some updates, so some rooms are done, some partially updated, and some dated. Prices are lower than their surrounding competition and we will stay here again.

Great Owners, Friendly staff, Clean room.

This place was great. Yes, the bathroom is dated, but the bed was SO comfortable and the sheets and blanket smelled deliciously clean. The towels were exceptionally soft. Hosts were kind and had great food reccos.

Clean Motel, the carpet and bed seem to have been recently replaced. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom is a little dated but had all the necessary features. 
Because of Covid no breakfast is served.  I think it's a little overpriced since breakfast is not included at this time.  Our coffee maker didn't work and we received a replacement right away. 
The staff is very nice and helpful.

Friendly Staff your basic Motel.

I spent two nights here while on a ski vacation. The room was very clean and I felt safe at this motel. The owners were nice. The bed was comfortable and the water in the shower was hot. My only complaint was that the fridge was small and didn't fit my containers. I just used my cooler instead. An added perk was that the motel is close to the Michigan visitor center and there are some pretty hiking trails there.

Nice Mom and Pop Motel

Royal Motel is a cozy vintage option. No recent renovations, but rooms are very clean, and rates are reasonable. Good internet reception and in room coffee. Owners on site. Check out the rooms on Royal Motel website.
