We had an amazing stay that surpassed our expectations! We came for our wedding weekend and stayed in the Shady Lady. It was even more charming and beautiful than in the photos, and the patio hot tub was so lovely. It was a perfect and relaxing way to end our wedding night.

The bed was super comfortable, the decor was adorable, and we loved feeding the llamas and goats! We took almost as many photos with them as we took at our wedding lol. 

Chris was super welcoming and accommodating allowing us to check in a little early. He also did a full run down of the room, feeding the animals, and he made sure the hot tub was running perfectly for us. Everything about our stay was just wonderful. We will 100% be back!

The perfect wedding weekend!

If I lived closer I would keep this place as my best kept secret. We stayed in the Stargazer. The room and property were charming, relaxing and clean (satisfying my high bar for cleanliness). The clean part and obvious personal care and touches contributed to a generally relaxed vibe. The view from the room was divine. We woke each morning to an array of birds, Stellar’s Jay, California Scrub Jays, Oak Titmice, Mountain Chickadee, Bushtits, Wrentits and Anna’s hummingbirds were among the species we saw. The birds were attracted to the water features on the property as well as feeders at the adjacent property across the road. Breakfast and lattes at the Julian Cafe were great. We also enjoyed the ambience and craft beer at the Julian Beer Co two of three nights were stayed. The private hot tub was a bonus. I thought the room was priced right and great value.

Divine view, birds and a great value!

We had an extraordinary visit at the Wikiup.  It is a remarkably friendly place and Chris and crew were great hosts.  We played Chess in front of the fire (my son got a lesson from Chris) and enjoyed the goats and llamas.  

Super comfortable room and overall rewarding experience.  Julian itself is a cool and unique spot.  If you've never been to the area, it's well worth the trip.

Warm and human place

This place is magical! My husband and I drove here from San Diego for a couple nights. It was the perfect peaceful getaway. We stayed in the stargazer room with the private hot tub. We had an awesome time exploring Julian, visiting wineries, and relaxing at this hotel. We can’t wait to go back! 

Perfect Peaceful Getaway 

We stayed in the Shady Lady room at the Wikiup Hummingbird Hotel and had a wonderful time.  The property is expansive with hidden spaces to sit in nature and animals to feed (llamas and goats).  You feel like you are back in time.  The host, Chris, will do whatever it takes to make you happy.  There are no details overlooked.  The place is lovely.  I would say it is one of the best places we have ever stayed.  Thank you, Chris.  See you again!

We Will Be Back

Staying here at the Wikiup Hummingbird Hotel was the highlight of my year! Chris, the owner, was incredible. He was warm, friendly, inviting and had great suggestions for restaurants. He did everything he could to make our stay an awesome experience!

I was attending a wedding at Julian Wedding Venue with my partner. We stayed in the Shady Lady room and the evening we arrived, Chris had the wood burning hot tub already going.

The llamas and goats were by far the cutest things ever. I specifically booked Wikiup because I saw that there were llamas on premises and it did not disappoint! I spent all the days there excited to wake up and feed the llamas and goats. As soon as they heard me leave the room and open the jar of food, you could hear the goats running up the fence waiting to be fed. So cute!

Shady Lady was a beautiful room! Everything was immaculate - super spotless, incredibly clean, adorable, and comfortable. The towels were sparkling white, super comfortable and huge! The bathroom was extremely clean, water pressure and temperature were great! The room had a mini fridge, plates, glasses, coffee and anything else we needed was in the gathering room. The bed was so comfortable and the sheets and pillows were so nice. I slept great here and was so pleased that everything was squeaky clean.

Staying here was such a fun and unique experiences! I cannot wait to come back. Chris has put so much care and effort and love into Wikiup. It’s a must-visit place in SoCal. I almost don’t want to tell anyone so it can stay a secret.

All llamas, no drama.

We were there during a storm induced power blackout. The room was lit by candles and the hot tub was heated by fire wood. It was a wonderful experience. Feeding the goats and llamas and watching the many birds was very fun.

The Shady Lady was a Pleasant Surprise

I’ve stayed at this BnB more times than I can count, and tho always comfortable and inviting, I have to say that the new owner is the perfect match for this place! He made everything so easy for us, and we had more than we could have ever needed. His upgrades and changes are not only beautiful, tasteful, and top notch, his dedication to taking care of his guests needs goes above and beyond. For the first time ever in all my visits, I felt a level of relaxation I hadn’t yet felt staying there! Excited for Chris and his new adventure in owning and running Wikiup. He’s truly got this down!

New Owner is the BEST!

This B&B is among the best I have ever stayed at.  It is vert eclectic and has a very welcoming and friendly new owner, Chris.  The setting is beautiful country and the three Llamas that are on the property make it fun.  There are also many hummingbirds that come to feed morning, noon and evening.  I stayed in the 'Shade Lady' guest room and it was fantastic. Private porch for viewing the sunset and foliage with a wood fired hot tub..  The room was very comfortable with a period bathroom including a claw foot tub/shower combination. Because of Covid no breakfast was served but coffee and juice was provided as well as a gift certificate for breakfast in town, a stones throw away. There are a number of great restaurants in town too, Jeremy on the Hill was fantastic. I cannot say enough about this spectacular gem.  If you are exploring this gold rush town there is only one place to stay: WikiupBnB.

Premier B&B in Julian

We had a wonderful time in the Stargazer room. It was "out of this world" comfortable. Stargazer has some fun surprises to enjoy. Bed is so comfortable.  Love having a frig & microwave. This room is so private which makes the outdoor Jacuzzi so fun. The stars at night while sitting in the Jacuzzi were awesome! Gourmet breakfast was delicious, as always. The hummingbirds are fascinating & beautiful to watch; there are so many. Julian is such a lovely quiet town. We'll be back to try the Willow room next. Looks beautiful!  We have stayed in Shady Lady & Rose's Secret. Each room is lovely & fun; so much attention to detail in each room. We had the dubious distinction of being Linda & Lee's last guests. Chris is the new owner. We met Chris. He seemed very nice and excited to carry on the legacy of Linda & Lee's Wikiup. Llamas are still going to add to the fun lovely grounds.
