before booking I read the reviews, so I new not to expect the Hilton. However, my expectations were much better than I expected. The family that runs the hotel is very kind and accommodating. The rooms need updating it is true  but they were exceptionally clean and comfortable. The view was the best I have ever had.They had a several grills to bbq and a nice patio to enjoy our dinner. We certainly will be back, hopefully in the fall.

I am currently staying here and am so over this place. Weird vibe, I think that the rooms, property and staff are really tired as am I, of being here. Not very welcoming, hospitable or accommodating and it was embarrassing to have to ask for a different room based on condition and smell only to be met with sarcasm and unprofessional behavior. Very frustrating.

Just No

We had to wait to enter Yosemite so staying a night at June Lake above Mono Lake seemed a good idea.  This place featured good views of the lake.  They delivered on the views but much else was awry.  

This is a tired property in need of maintenance and renovation.  Not very many electrical plugs for the modern traveler.  The room was serviceable but lacked a fan to cool it down.  The kitchenette was old and lacked basics.  

They charged a big pet fee - $75 - which was ridiculous because the manager’s dogs barked incessantly while running at our 15 year old dog. They barked in the night as well. I don’t think management gets it both ways - a super high pet fee and letting their dogs run without any control.  

I’d wait on this one until they get their act
together.

Great views but OMG needs a renovation

This was our first time experience with Boulder Lodge and we loved it!!  The family-run business adds such charm and character.....and they are the nicest people!!
We loved our stay so much, we will be booking very soon for our family's vacay next year!!

Perfect lakeside "cabin-like" experience!!

My husband and I stayed at Boulder Lodge for 3 nights in June. Our stay was our worst ever experience in staying in a hotel or Airbnb in our lifetime. We killed ~26 big moths in the room. One moth even got into my purse! The screen does not seal well. To prevent moths from flying in, we had to keep the windows closed all the time. The room turned hot without air-condition, fresh air or breeze on summer evenings. We could hardly sleep at night. Moreover, no housekeeping during our stay there, despite of our request for one. After 3 nights there, we could not run away from this place fast enough, and will absolutely never come back again!

Most terrible hotel / Airbnb experience

Since 1956 the Oldfield family has owned, expanded and lovingly dedicated their lives to keep the family business, the Boulder Lodge, a destination for year round June Lake travelers. The property is huge with several cabins, apartment type buildings and hotel rooms. There are large grassy areas, play structures and an indoor pool and spa.

The current manager, her family and other family members run the lodge, a seemingly 24 hour job. 

My husband and I just spent five nights at the Lodge while enjoying the sights the June Lake area has to offer, boating and fishing the four lakes, touring Bodie, Mono Lake and taking in the beauty of fall in the high desert. During our stay we had a lake view room (204) with a kitchenette and queen bed. The room was regularly serviced each day.
The lodge staff were always friendly and helpful.

Yes, the property is dated and cluttered. It needs cleaning and better upkeep. But the bones are good. The foundation is strong and was set by the hard work and vision of Mr. Oldfield and his wife and continued by his children. Perhaps now the next generation of family will grow into the business and work hard to make the necessary  changes to return the property to it's former glory.

Family Run Lodge

This is probably the worst lodge I have ever been to. The room was so demolished it is difficult to describe, on top of this it smelled very bad. Also, they cheat with the pricing for the same room at the same time I was told 175$ (without tax) my friend paid 152$ (with tax). Believe me today I would not pay even 20 bucks for that type of room.

Horror

Don’t waist your time and money. This place is now a dump. It used to be a nice place 25 years ago but it has not been kept up. The key didn’t work so had to get another and it didn’t work either. Stayed there 2 nights but they never came and made the room up. The office was in total disarray . Who ever the owners are, they are not very organized.

Do not stay here. The worst experience I’ve ever had. I’d give it a zero if it were available. 

The hotel is very dirty and run down inside and out. 

The grounds are not maintained, unswept and dirty with trash. Broken cars are parked on the property in plain site and half finished projects. 

The lobby was dirty and dusty with papers cluttering the front desk. My husband has a service dog, but the woman still charged us $40 for a pet cleaning fee. This is not permitted by the ADA law. The total for the room was $190, way too much money. 

The room we stayed in was 2D. It was old and dingy. The coffee table hadn’t been cleaned, it was sticky and dirty. The curtains were smaller than the front window, not covering it completely. The water kept running in the toilet. There was mold around the shower and the bathroom door was deteriorating from water damage.

There was a separate room for the bedroom. The window in the bedroom didn’t have a lock and the screen looked like it had been pulled away by someone trying to get in. The bed was not comfortable with a thin bedspread. 

The dead bolt did not work so we just locked the one on the door knob. We should have asked for a different room, this was a BIG MISTAKE. We went to bed early at 9:00 because we were traveling early in the morning. 

I woke up about 11:30 hot and asked my husband to open the window and tried to go back to sleep. Dozing off about midnight I heard a car pull up in front of our room, car doors open, and people talking and laughing. 

Next thing I knew someone was unlocking the door to our room. My husband jumped out of bed and told me to stay in the bedroom. He yelled at the people coming in the door to get out of our room. It was 4 people.  The first guy threw the door said it was their room and he had a key to the door in his hand. My husband pushed them back and locked the door. 

Needless to say we were scared to death! We didn’t know if we were getting robbed or what was going on. 

I called the front desk and asked what the hell was going on. A man answered, he didn’t know and trying to figure it out. He hung up on me. The woman who was at the front desk earlier came to the room apologizing that there was a mistake and they gave the wrong key to the other people. We told her we didn’t want to hear excuses and told her to leave because we were too angry to talk to her. 

Still too angry and felt unsafe we decided to get dressed, pack up and leave even though it was 12:30 am. We checked out and demanded a full refund. 

Never stay here!

Bates Motel

The B&B we had booked had a plumbing problem so they booked our 2 nights for us at the Boulder Lodge - a name that had us imagining something great. At check in the lobby was such a dirty mess we had some real misgivings but it was late and we took the room anyway. We had a separate cabin with a wonderful view of June Lake!
It went downhill from there.
The steps up to the porch as well as the porch itself were iffy at best but the view was GREAT! We entered in to a dark dumpy place that was so rundown that the back area sloped down at least 3" from where we stood at the front door. FUNKY! The bathroom was more than funky, it was a mess. The settleing of the building had cracked the tile in the dirty little shower with caulk and grout all over trying to do poor repairs. Bring shower shoes!

The bedroom was grim but the beds were OK. We staid that one night canceling the next because we would not have choosen this place on our own.

Oh, did I forget to mention the rodent feces we found under the sink?
