My partner and I had reservations at WoodSpring Suites Kansas City Mission for April 27, 2023 through April 29, 2023. We were unjustly kicked out of our room, 305, after being accused of stealing a housekeeper’s (Tiffany) charger. That morning when we left the room, the housekeeper, was cleaning the room nearby in that my partner asked her about a “Do not disturb” sign for our room on my behalf as I had my school laptop and portable DVD player in the room. She rudely informed us that there was no such signs and that they only go in the room by request or when we leave the hotel. At that point, my partner had taken a book of matches off her cart. We went on our way down the hall to the elevator and past another housekeeper which no words were spoken. 

So my partner and I were gone since that morning to early evening in which I returned to the hotel by myself. When I got to my room, the room key was not working so I went downstairs. It was apparently shift change. The man who checked us in the night before was at the front desk. 

This hotel staff is the same man who questioned my partner about how he got the low room rate for our room with the NFL draft being in town that weekend at check-in the night before. We replied that we were not in town for that reason as we are from out of state and came to dump a storage unit and had booked the room a week in advance. He responded that the room rates are being booked for a hundred dollars more now as a result of the NFL draft as they can charge weekend rates for the weekday. That was the end of the conversation. Later that evening, I had asked about upgrading our room to a two bed as my partner’s son came to help us last minute with the storage. The male staff reported that it would be an extra $255 in which I told him that I would have to speak to my partner and that was the end of that conversation. 

Fast forward now to the evening of Friday April 28, 2023. This male staff had a note left from the morning shift stating that we were to leave the premises and must return the charger. I had called my partner on my phone and allowed him to talk to the male staff and the acting hotel manager as the general manager had left for the day. Supposedly, the general manager called the contact number listed on the reservation three times that morning but no such calls were retrieved. My partner asked for the videos to be reviewed and had told them the details of our interactions with the housekeeping staff and her cart that morning. However, the hotel staff decided in the end that we were to leave the premises immediately and that the police were going to be called. We do not know if the police were called or not but we do know that we did not take anyone’s charger. My partner believes that we were being discriminated against because of his race. 

I was escorted to the room by the male staff who watched me pack our belongings in the room which included my school laptop, portable DVD player, all of our chargers to our phones and electrical devices, clothes, and food items. I left the premises and did not cause any issues despite being falsely accused and being made to find other hotel accommodations during the NFL draft weekend. I do feel an injustice has occurred and that it needs to be rectified.

Injustice

My 18 YRO daughter traveling cross country alone booked and asked if she could stay given her age. She was told by hotel booking person she could. When she arrived, she was refused for being under 21. Terrible experience for her first solo move. I tried to reason with them to no avail. Don’t recommend this place. 

Terrible

Hotel was currently under renovations, staff was wonderful, there were a lot of blue collar workers staying at this location. Everything worked in room and room was very clean. It is not a 5 star resort but we would stay here again. 

Great price and location

This hotel has been my home since February 2022. The staff has been extremely nice and helpful. The rooms have been clean and well kept. When I needed anything, the staff was quick on their response to help. I appreciate having a place that takes care of everything I need. Thank you for everything Woodsprings.

Amazing Place

Wasn't terrible, but also wasn't amazing. You get what you pay for. I needed something very cheap last minute and this worked. The Manager on duty, Cory I think, was very nice and made good conversation with me. He said my deposit would go back in to my account when I checked out depending on my bank. I used a credit card and it was posted the next day, so all good there! Hotel itself was a bit noisy with kids, slamming doors, and a barking dog. The walls are super thin, but I was still able to sleep. I did get locked out of my room a couple times when my key just quit working, but 2 different staff members were quick to get me back in with no issues. I'm not too picky so overall wasn't a terrible stay. Oh and there are a couple outdoor spots in the back and on the sides to smoke for you other smokers. :)

What can I say, it's a cheap hotel.

I stayed at the hotel for several months and was very pleased with the experience. The staff was friendly and helpful. Particularly Corey but every one was top notch.  The room was comfortable and clean. And the location was perfect. I highly recommend this hotel

Omg my family and I are here at the wood spring hotel in Kansas City on 6950 fox ridge  we’re from out of town and I might say this is the worst hotel we l I ever been in I like how it’s set up like a apartment but it’s not clean no iron no towels the tub was dirty with a use body wash left in it just terrible thumbs down for me i can’t wait to get back home.

Get away

We came here to stay as a cheap option on our way home from vacation as we have little money and without prior warning on the website they charge $100 deposit and the note says it takes 7-14 days to clear your card. Thanks now I have no money for food or to get home l.ao I'm about to lose my mind. Take off the fee.

Made me very frustrated.

RUDE woman at the front desk.   When I  asked who she was,  she snapped, " I am the Traveling Manager"!    WOW.    Other staff helpful, respectful and quite nice.   The a.k.a. "traveling manager" did not dress nor carry herself for someone in a management position.

After checking in...good.    The self identified a.k.a. "Traveling Mgr" = NIGHTMARE

The staff are friendly, and they treat their guests with respect and common courtesy that is lacking in so many other businesses and people these days.
My stay has been longer then I expected it to be so it is comforting to know I don't have to worry about having a clean and comfortable room waiting for me each day.
