Pool freezing, hot tub doesn’t work. Told that a fuse had blown the day prior. 

No breakfast offered due to fire in kitchen two months ago. 

Ceiling tile falling in.  Lamp in the room doesn’t work. Stains on the sheets. Dirt on the bed. Bathroom door doesn’t close. Balcony door doesn’t open or close. 

One patron was told that you don’t get a refund after you check in. 

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

Do not stay here.

This review is a bit overdue, but I was doing some trip planning for an upcoming road trip, and while doing so, I thought to myself..."Just make sure we don't end up in a place like Kearney Inn again!" So, it made me think about writing this review.

We are big-time roadtrippers who are usually on the road for 3 weeks at a time, twice a year. Staying in cheap accommodations is not new to us at all. This place was...shocking.

I booked it as an "Express Deal" on Priceline. When we pulled up, my husband and I both kinda had our mouths agape, and he said sarcastically, "Well, this is the place you wanted to stay at."

When we pulled up, the owner was outside chatting with a young man with bleach blonde hair. I got out to check in, and the young man moseyed up to the side of the car to bum a cigarette off of my husband. Apparently, he asked to bum a cigarette and began telling my husband about his criminal record and the fact that he can't find a job or a place to stay.

I went in to check in. The office was old and very messy. The owner was very nice. I was given a key and room number. I went back out to the car, and the above-mentioned young man asked me how much I paid for the room. I told him that we paid $46, and he said, "DANG! He charges the Salvation Army $50 a night to get rooms for people!"

Oh. So this place is like overflow for the homeless shelter? It was clearly a residential type of "motel," with vehicles that clearly were not in operation parked outside of some of the rooms.

When we walked in, I was shocked that this place was even an operable motel. I really don't even know how to describe it. I've never been to a brothel or halfway house, but those are the types of places that I thought of. Mentioning the holes in the walls, peeling and mismatched paint, absolutely disgusting shower, wobbly and stained toilet, bare light bulb, etc. just doesn't give the place justice. I could say those same things about some of the various other "roach motels" that we've ended up in on these cross-country trips, but I have never been in any room that gave me the same vibe as this place.

Also, there was paperwork and other "proof" there from a previous occupant's stay after a very recent release from jail.

We really didn't have any other options, so we stayed. And surprisingly, the bed was very comfortable. The sheets were clean, but there was only one pillow, so I had to track down the owner (no phone in the room, so I had to call the front desk from my cell, then ended up having to walk to the office because there was no answer) to ask for another. He said the previous occupant had stolen the pillows from the room. After that, we actually slept quite soundly (although it could've been the 12 hours on the road). The place seemed very quiet, surprisingly. And the owner was very nice, apologetic and as accommodating as he could possibly be.

Because of those things, I'm giving the place two stars instead of one. However, I would really highly suggest that people rethink staying there.

I'd suggest choosing another place...

Comfortable bed, but room was small, bathroom was small and out of date.  TV and A/C worked, so room was fine. You get what you pay for.  Was clean, and that is important, and if all you need is a place to rest your head for the night, it works.

Small Room needing updating

this is an "older" motel located in downtown Kearney, Nebraska. we used a motel cupon for this stay. our room had 2 beds, a recliner, 2 desk chairs, desk, t.v. microwave, fridge.  the room was very clean. the only hint of age was the pink fixtures in the bathroom. the bathroom tile we super clean, the grout was pearly white. we were located close to the Highway, but the only noise was a couple that had partied a little to much out in the parking lot  about 11 pm. the motel offered a continental breakfast, honey buns, coffee, etc. nothing to brag about.  this a good time to be in the Kearney/Grand Island area as the sandhill cranes are stopping here now to replenish before heading further North. they are usually in this area through March.

clean, quiet

Well my husband and I were passing through Kearney Nebraska and we were looking for a room that wasn't over expensive and busy. Well I found this motel on a site B**g, so when we got there it wasn't horrible, but they still charge per person on the rate of the room. $68.54 for a room with no Kleenex, barely any towels. I believe there was one bar of soap. No plug for bath tub, which, kids 10 & under usually don't take showers. Worst of all, the heating system is gas and the rooms have old heater vents that don't blow out heat, it radiates it. In turn means, if its on, don't touch it. No warning from owners, even though we got charged for our three children, they knew there was kids. Our youngest child unknowingly walked up to this grate/vent heater, touched it and automatically burned his hand so bad it blistered and cried for almost an hour after. We call front desk because we don't want to stay there any longer and to report the injury. We wanted the money back from the room so we could go get a safer one but they refused to give it back. So we had no choice but to stay at the motel and our child was up crying most of the night because hand hurt so bad. Then they call at 9:30am without any consideration of people sleeping, just to ask if we were going to stay another night. Even after we asked for our money back to leave that horrible room. The people who stay there on a regular basis are nosey and once you tell them "No" to staying another night, exactly after 11am, they will call constantly, harassing you until you get out... Very rude and impatient... The hospitality is not hospitable...
