Very misleading advertising regarding this hotel and the garden room. Dated bathroom that needs updating very badly. Highly over priced. No amenity. Deserving a Zero rating. The beach photos are misleading. There is no beach. Will not go again and not recommending at all.

Worst hotel and misleading advertising

Azul Del Mar was an incredible find!  It's a quirky little property with amazing beds. clean rooms with little kitchenettes, and your own almost private beach!  We had a hard time reaching the front desk, so plan ahead if you need to call them, or call dive resort next door for immediate service.  As the rates might indicate, there are not many "resort"  amenities, but who really needs them when you have such an amazing view of the water, happy neighbors and calm waters in front of you?  The resort next door offers Azul guests a pool, water sports and a few other things, but we were just happy to enjoy the property and enjoy what Key Largo has to offer.  One night, we went to the Caribbean Cub just up the road, it was a dive bar for sure, and had a couple of cocktails with the locals.  Later, we sat out on their beach chairs and enjoyed the sunset as the breeze wafted through the palm trees. Back at Azul, the service was amazing, we were sad to leave, but alas, back to the frozen North it was for us, but we can't say enough great things about Azul!

Cure your Blues at Azul!

When we got there, there's nobody in the lobby and there's a number to call. That's fine, but there's no answer at the number. We try for a while, then have to wander the property to find someone. Same at checkout. Dirty room, no bathroom fan, shower is just an old jetted hot tub with a shower curtain and shower faucet bolted on. Mildew on the bathroom windowsills. I could go on... and we paid $300 for the night! Not worth $100. I don't usually leave reviews but this was crazy. 

Find another place.

I had chosen the hotel as the destination for a two-night stay, with the intention of enjoying a peaceful and relaxing getaway by the beach, by reading the reviewer's feedback. To our dismay, the experience was marred by an unforeseen disruption. Upon our wake up after the first night, i was met with an unexpected and inconvenient surprise - a wedding photoshoot event had been booked on the hotel premises.

The entire beachfront side was occupied by workers constructing arches, setting up tables, and, later, hosting the actual photoshoot. The noise, commotion, and the disruption caused by this event completely overshadowed our stay. My primary goal of relaxation was rendered impossible due to this unexpected situation. What added to my disappointment was the lack of prior notification. We were not informed of this event when i made the reservation, nor upon arrival. In addition, a lady working there was nasty enough to ask me to move my stuff away from the photo camera objective. 

I understand that events and functions are a part of running a hotel, and such events can be a source of revenue. However, as paying guests who were not made aware of this disruption in advance, it left us feeling extremely inconvenienced and disappointed.

In light of the extreme inconvenience caused during our stay, I sent a kind request to the hotel's mail address because there was no receptionist throughout our stay .  Regretfully, nobody ever dared to answer. However, they were very active on the day of the booking when I questioned various extra fees which were added to our bill without prior notice or authorization from our side. 
we got completely appalled by the pure profit-oriented behavior of the owner, whomever he or she was.

Lovely staff, lovely location and lovely room. Even has complimentary laundry. We had ocean view room and it was next to the lazy lobster which was great food. We watched the stars from the dock. There is no way to get around the mosquitoes so if you plan to

Lovely little surprise

I am so disappointed.   For $500 a night, I was expecting something much nicer, not a tired looking hotel  room.    The web pictures make it look so much more luxurious.   The resort has seen better days.  Old furniture, poor color choices and poor decorating.   I’m staying in an almost 900 sq Ft room that doesn’t even have a tv in the bedroom.  No artwork on the walls except a few pieces that you’d find in a budget store.  Funky and choppy layout of the suite.    Bathroom has no double sink.
I was going to look at staying elsewhere except I prepaid for 2 nights and was told I couldn’t get my money back.   I think there are much nicer hotels in Key Largo for the same price or cheaper.

Disappointed

The “resort” isn’t as nice as the photos would lead you to believe. I chose the Azul because it looked like a beautiful, romantic experience, but it fell far short of expectations. We stayed in the Aquamarina suite two nights in January, 2023.
 
Before booking, be aware of the following:

We found it shabby: there was cracked plaster in the bedroom, no ceiling fans, screens missing or with holes, some windows bolted shut, chipped kitchen sink, etc.

The suite was spacious however, the bathroom was very small and awkward.

Room Service is listed on the website, but not available. When questioned, Management said that Room Service meant Housekeeping not food service. 

The beach is small and fenced off on both sides so you can sit but not walk on the beach.

Chemical smelling: the room smelled of sanitizer and strongly scented fabric softener. It was difficult to air out due to the lack of fans and window screens.

On the upside, it was quiet.

Underwhelming at best

No one, poorly maintained. 200 euros for a room without windows! It's only clean but at that price, go your way, you'll probably find a lot better. The receptionist ends up finding us a room elsewhere, not better maintained but with a window. A good renovation would be necessary. We wanted to enjoy the hotel, it was a failure. The photos are really misleading. Arnak!

It's not a three-star!

I booked this lovely little place based on tripadvisor and so glad I did!  The tiny private beach is perfect to launch the included paddle boards and kayaks.  Nice landscaping and the big family of iguanas was FUN!!! Our room was well equipped though maybe a few little issues like a shipped tile in the shower. Walking distance to nice restaurants. Staff was super nice

So Sweet!!!

The “resort” was everything we expected except for our room- if you book this hotel, be absolutely certain you do not book the “garden queen”. You have been warned. We were shocked to find our room away from the actual hotel and connected to the office in some sort of converted tiny  closet. It was extremely tiny with no place to sit. No table, chair or even a porch/balcony seat- nothing. So if your not on the toilet, you’re sitting on the bed. There is no carpeting so every little bit of sand, stone and dirt you walk in with end up on your feet and into the bed. The toilet is literally 3 feet from the bed and there is no room for dressing in the bathroom. The room is so heavily scented with a commercial air freshener that our sinuses were burning. As we viewed the beautiful property we looked sadly with envy at the guests that actually had a real room with a view or at least a chair.
