Beautiful, comfortable, clean hotel with terrible breakfast. Loved the accommodation, but hated the low quality breakfast. At these prices, I don’t want to eat off paper plates with plastic silverware. Instead we had fabulous breakfasts at La Grignote and Banana Cafe.

Beautiful hotel with terrible breakfast.

The La Pensione Inn is a beautiful  historic hotel.  That part met our expectation.  We didn't mind having to go across the street to the Silver Palms for breakfast.  But we thought we had reserved a "true" bed and breakfast.  By that we meant a sit down, served breakfast.  But there was a breakfast but not even at  a Holiday Inn Level.  Very disappointing.  The internet service was very poor.  For $600 a night, we definitely would not stay here again.

We loved this hotel! The room was perfect and we loved that it was in the back so the traffic noise was minimal. Location was great-we could walk everywhere! Peter and Simona were absolutely the best-every restaurant Simona recommended was absolutely great! We will definitely be back,

Fabulous hotel

Great location with easy access to both Duvall  Street and other island attractions.  Incredibly clean room and bathroom.  Loved our omelette by the pool each morning.  On site parking.  Attentive and helpful staff.  Would definitely recommend!

Great location!

Recently checked in to the inn. Our first night we had a random drunk wander in our room insisting he was staying in our room despite the fact our stuff was all over the room. The manager was notified and he came over and nicely resolved the issue. He actually had crawled into our bed and was going to sleep. It was our fault he got in the room because we left the door open. We were relaxing on the porch and don’t think it would be a problem to leave our room unlocked. Lol. The place is an old home with nine rooms. I can honestly say this is the noisiest place I’ve ever stayed in all my 57 years traveling. It’s not the street traffic it is the noise in the home. Other tenants, slamming of doors. BuZing of saws at 7 or 8 in the morning etc. i came for rest and relaxation following a total knee replacement. Well, I didn’t get any rest! Check in across the street. You also have use of the pool across the street which is nice.  The room was small but very cozy and dark. No natural light at all- hated that. Long story short, our stay was fine.  I am not sure I’d come back here in the future. On a scale of 0-10, I rate my overall stay as a 5

Winter getaway

My wife and I visited Key West last week and stayed at La Pensione.  We were very happy with the Inn and the staff.  They were very helpful with recommendations for restaurants, getting bikes (the best way to get around and the prices were great!), etc.  The omelet station by the pool was much better than I thought it would be.  The private pool was always empty and private behind a fence.  I recommend it highly and we will stay there again next time we're in town.

Really loved our stay at La Pensione Inn, it’s in a really convenient location for Duvall street being only a 5 minute walk and it’s easy to get to all other attractions in Key West, 

We stayed in room 205 upstairs at the front which has a lovely spacious balcony, the room is a great size and was spotlessly clean and comfortable with a fridge, microwave and coffee machine, 

The pool at La Pensione is lovely and secluded and pool towels are provided, the free breakfast is across the road at the sister hotel, It’s quite basic but still ok, 

I’d definitely recommend La Pensione  for a stay in Key West

Lovely stay at La Pensione

Private entrance/ room dark for sleeping/ safe for valuables/ microwave/ refrigerator- freezer / very comfortable bed/ nice towels & linens / slippers & robes / FREE PARKING/ centrally located/ within walking distance of all Key West attractions 
negatives - coffee pot provided but the coffee was terrible & pool closed at 9pm(too early!)
On the positive, a free breakfast across the street was provided ..  also included were omelets made to order on the pool deck! Very nice! 
I will stay there again!

Disappointing experience overall:
1. the high resort fees i was not expecting to pay as it didn't appear in the total of my reservation but in the blur on the side (i booked directly with the hotel)
2. we couldn't enjoy at all the old house - which was the point of booking in a charming B&B vs. a chain motel. many parts were closed and we accessed our room through the parking/pool
3. no breakfast in the charming house. They asked us to take it in the gloomy lobby of the hotel accross the street - clearly disappointing
4. our room had shutters that were fixed so no natural light at all :(
Overall, very expensive for what it was and this feeling of paying for "resort fees" that clearly are not justified.
Good location tough, walking distance to everything there is to see.

Not the charming B&B you expect when you book!!

Everything about La Pensione Inn was wonderful! The room had recently been renovated and was spotless.  The bed and pillows were super comfortable.  The pool and garden area was very secluded and relaxing.  The location was great, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the price was reasonable.  We'll definitely stay there again when we visit Key West.
