Family of 4 (52,52,17 27) stayed in B308 for a week in July.   Check in was very easy.  Keyless (code) entry was very nice,  not having to keep track of our room key all week was great!  Plenty of free parking.  Garbage and recycle available on-site.   Grounds were impeccably maintained.  A large variety of lush tropical foliage all over the property, with lit tiki torch lights at night.  Nice pool/hot tub, plenty of seating and BBQ grills, full kitchen at the pool...microwave,  oven etc..  Easy walk to the beach. Not really a swimmable beach (rocky and not very clear) but still beautiful for early morning walks and sunsets.    One of many things we loved at Luana Kai was early mornings. It is so peaceful and serene.  The birds sing the most beautiful songs as the sun comes up.  It was truly a highlight of every day!

The condo itself was beautiful.   Very clean, organized, updated and decorated beautifully.  We paid for the AC all week and it performed great, kept the entire until cool at all times.  We did keep the curtains pulled closed during the day to keep the sun from heating up the glass doors.  We kept the units around 74.  We had one incident where the unit in the boys bedroom started leaking onto the bed.  We shut it off and called the office. Even tho they were closed they called us right back and brought spare linens for the bed.  They said sometimes the unit does that, it wasn't broke.  We ran it again and didn't have anymore issues 

Kitchen was FULLY stocked, we made several dinners and breakfasts and never needed for anything.  Ice machine inside the fridge worked great.  Washer and Dryer worked great. We did several loads of laundry while there, even supplied laundry pods.  We did bring our own fabric softener sheets. 

The unit was stocked with multiple fans, luggage racks, spare blankets, beach Towels, beach chairs, umbrella, 2 coolers (we used them every day!), ice packs in the freezer (used them daily as well),  trash bags, laundry pods, coffee filters (we brought ours from home), cooking spices, salt, pepper, Tupperware.  Lots of thought went into supplying this unit.   No elevators at this property. 

The decor was very tasteful and tropical themed.  The various "catch all" trays placed throughout the until was a nice touch. Helped us keep track of our sunglasses, rental car key, money and jewelry .  Not much counter space in the upstairs bathroom so they added a 3 tiered basket organizer that I got a lot of use out of. 

Beds were not great but comfortable enough.  Nice linens, plenty of pillows.  Extra power supply by the beds for charging devices was really useful. Plenty of hangers in the closets, plenty of drawer space.   

TV worked great with a huge cable channel offering.  Night light in the hallway was nice to have in the evenings.   There is a book near the TV for visitors to write in.  Enjoyed reading thru that and of course we left an entry on our last day.    We left the newest version of "Maui Revealed" behind for others to enjoy.  We also left our sunscreen, bug spray and snorkel gear behind for others to enjoy. 

We enjoyed eating meals on the lanai,  it was so peaceful and the pool/partial ocean view was breathtaking.  A little hot with the AC blowing hot hair right on top of us but nothing you can do about that.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Luana Kai, it was so nice to come back to after a day of exploring the island.  It felt lime home.  We really have no complaints.  The price was amazing for what we got,  we will absolutely recommend this property to anyone who asks.  Thank you Luana Kai for a magical week on Maui.

A little piece of tropical paradise

How do I put this? I used to live in Kihei back in the late 80s, and Luana Kai represents the very essence of Kihei: calm, serene, beautiful views, and kind people. Our room, located on the 2nd floor, had air conditioning, and the view was great. The condo was roomy and the amenities were plenty. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking supplies, there were beach items available for our use, and the beds were very comfortable. When we return to Maui, we will definitely stay at Luana Kai again. Great location. Good prices. Superb views and space.

This resort is very family oriented and laid back. We had an ocean view unit that had air conditioning and was well cared for- all modern updates.  (Note: we rented directly from an owner).  The resort grounds are very nice. Big pool, 6 poolside grills, a hot tub. The pool area is gated and requires a code to get in (code changes month to month). Beach is about a football field away from the Units.  Beach isn’t rocky.  Several restaurants and local stores in close proximity. Multiple beaches. 
We will return!

Nice laid back resort

In July, my family and I rented 2 units: a 1/1 and a 2/2. Our daughter, SIL, and grandson stayed in the 1/1 in building C. They were on the ground floor and for them, they repeatedly said how happy they were with the condo and location. We stayed on the 2nd floor in Building B. 

Accommodation: The condo layout was very nice. Our son and DIL had the one bedroom with two twin beds, and my wife and I had the main bedroom that looked out over the common area, pool, and partial ocean view. The picture attached is from the lanai. One thing I liked about being in Building B was the afternoon sun was not shining on our lanai. I know that sounds weird, but in July, that is a welcome relief. Rooms were roomy, the king bed was comfortable and plenty of pillows for us side sleepers. The only drawback is the A/C system blows directly on you in bed. In order to alleviate some of that, we increased the temp setting at night. My wife is in a wheelchair, and we had adequate room to move around the condo and bedroom. 

As for amenities, there were beach chairs, towels, and even a couple of boogie boards. That is a huge savings for tourists traveling from far away who have packed to the gills luggage already. There was laundry detergent and those rinse beads. Also, previous tenants leaving spices, and other cooking condiments was also a welcome surprise. Too bad they didn't leave Kona coffee. Inside joke. Kona is pretty expensive coffee. 

Pool area and plenty of grills.  I think I counted 5 or 6 grills, so there was never an issue of waiting on someone to finish with one grill. They also had an outdoor kitchen with cooktop, fridge, sink, etc. 

Drawbacks: The beach is not much of a beach. There is very little of it, so settling in your chairs and having people walk within feet of you is something you would have to expect. The walk over the lawn is long and given that it is so spongy, we were unable to roll my wife out to that beach in her chair. Knowing that is not the case with everyone, it would be nice to see a 3-4' wide walkway that takes folks from the pool down to the beach area. 

No elevators could be problematic for those needing assistance. We managed with my wife, but it was a challenge, for sure. I don't see them installing elevators, so you just have to understand what you are up against should you travel with someone with needs. Yes, we could have stayed on the first floor, but we agreed we wanted a better view and my wife was ever the trooper of managing those challenges. 

Lastly, the parking lot is challenging because the parking spots are more designed for compact cars. In fact, so many parking lots over there just don't like wide vehicles. With that said, be prepared to get cozy with cars next to you. 

Overall: Would I stay there again? Absolutely. The price was pretty fair, the location was excellent, and the condos were well maintained and roomy. 

Great Views, Amenities, and Location.

Here is a general synopsis of my rating: 1) the TV in the living room is extremely outdated, remote hardly worked and the TV was very difficult to manage. 2) There is an AC in the unit but you must to go to the front office to inquire about turning the AC on for an additional $25 per day. 3) There were no trash bags, I had to go to the store and buy some. 4) The dust pan was tucked away under the sink, and when I found it, it was near check out time.  Not kid friendly, and does not have modern updates. My kids left a few sunflower seeds in the drawer and the host was not content about it, she said I left the place very messy. Please be made aware that if you have kids, this might not be the best fit, also cleaning is an expectation. I was not set up to clean nor was made aware cleaning was required.

Clean one bedroom condo. We were in B210 unit.  We had a beautiful view of pool and ocean view.  Balcony in second floor was great. We ate alit of meals there.  Being on the second floor, we observed them cleaning the four barbecue grills by the pool and also the pool every morning. The pool was immaculate. The pool area was nice unfortunately only 4 umbrellas to lounge in the shade.  The other shaded area was under the kitchen area which was very nice.  Maybe they could bring a few lounges in that area also. We paid $25 a day for a/c which we used everyday.  There was one unit in the bedroom and one in the living area. Unfortunately the bedroom unit made a loud noise during the night.  The AC water drain for the unit was in the bedroom closet and during the night we were awaken with the loud noise of it draining.  The bathroom had a stall shower which looked new and clean.  Also had washer and dryer to do Lauder and they had some laundry pods.  Kitchen was new and had stainless steel appliances and dishwasher with pods for it.  Only thing we missed was a restaurant or bar on site for some socializing. It was very quiet at night and not much to do. Would recommend Luana Kai, but if your looking for a hotel vibe this is not for you

Clean condo 

We have been coming here for years. Leslie, the manager is fabulous.  Quiet, away from the crowds in Kaanapolli . Kihei is hot and always sunny. Great pool. You pay nothing until you show up. The prices are very competive. Did I mention the ocean views. Wonderful.

Years of wonderful memories.

We stayed 3-02-22 through 03-09-22 at this resort along with two of our friends. The resort is beautiful especially having the beach on the property and just a short walk away from the condos. In the mornings, my wife and I would go out to the beach to have our coffee and watch the whales. The swimming pool area is super nice.  There are about five BBQ grills within the pool area, and they were kept clean.  The location was excellent.  There are places to eat, drink and shop nearby.  Very convenient. As for Condo C210, it had issues. I knew something was wrong when the front door opened as I pushed the first number on the keypad. Well, the front door was opened and would not close, much less lock.  The door had some old damage that would prevent it from closing all the way, so it was impossible to engage the lock.  One of our friends immediately made contact with the Host, Malinee Kruasing.  And instead of sending someone out to fix the problem, she began to try and tell us how to make the door work.  After telling her over and over that it was not working, she said she would give us a refund and suggested we look for another place to stay. She also told us they were aware of the damage to the door and that getting it replaced was in the works.  Well, we were stuck there because we couldn’t leave to go enjoy our vacation, leaving our things unsecured. Eventually she said she would send a repairman. He arrived in the late evening and did a patch work job.  By the time he was done, we lost a day of our vacation. I don’t understand why or how C210 was available.  I hope this was poor management on the part of Ms. Kruasing and hope it wasn’t the actual owners that were willing to disregard guest safety.

Beautiful Complex, "but"

This vacation rental was nearly perfect for our needs.  We stayed in B112, a two bedroom/2 bathroom corner unit condo with fully stocked kitchen and washer/dryer in the unit.  The kitchen and master bath had been recently (last few years?) renovated.  The rest of the place was comfortable with simple furnishings akin to what you might find in a national park hotel room.  Not luxurious by any means but perfectly homey.  

This unit is on the first floor right next to the pool and a big grassy area good for kids to run around or to throw a football back and forth. Although each unit is owned separately, I booked directly with the Luana Kai website. Because each unit is separately owned, your unit and experience may vary greatly.   The Luana Kai website has pictures of all the units under their management, which I would say is at least 50%.   When you book directly, you pick your specific unit so make sure you check out the pictures and are satisfied with what you see.  Other units have contracted with other management companies or are individually managed so you have to find those units and pictures at a different website.  

The Kihei location is great if you plan on doing the Road to Hana or Haleakala.  It really cuts those drives by at least 40 minutes compared to staying in west Maui.  Also, Kihei feels like more of a beach town than a resort area.  If you prefer that atmosphere, definitely pick Kihei over west maui.  

The property itself borders an oceanfront county park with huge grassy areas, pickle ball courts, and tennis courts.  The park was never crowded and it felt like it was part of the Luana Kai.  The sand at the beach was full of coral and rocks so not good to go barefoot and the water was very murky so not really swimmable.  But the beach was great for sunsets, long walks and watching kite surfers.  The on-site management was friendly and helpful.    

Note that not all units have AC and the ones that do charge an extra $25 per night.  Make sure you know whether your unit has AC or not.  B112 did not have AC, but that was not an issue during our January stay.  Forgot to mention that the rates were extremely reasonable for Maui.  We looked at nearby places and the Luana Kai had better rates.  This place was a great value and we highly recommend if you want a condo in beach town environment!

Great value and time in B112.

We had booked this with our Agent Fereshteh Tali and her assistant Roshy through VRBO and KVLR. 
This trip was amazing for our extended family of 23 people. We rented 3 of the Garden Villas over the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Pool was close.. Kids had a great time there and on the lawn immediately adjacent to the Condo.. Master bedrooms worked out great for all of the families. 
Fereshteh and Roshy were very prompt and gave great recommendations for our stay.      Absolutely no complaints and excellent service and accomodations.
