I am deeply disappointed with my stay at this condo. The place was in poor condition, with numerous issues that made the experience unpleasant:

Hygiene: The condo was infested with cockroaches, which is unacceptable and concerning.
Plumbing: The plumbing was frequently out of service, causing significant inconvenience.
Microwave: The microwave was broken and appeared to be non-functional despite being listed as available. We never used it during our stay.
Noise: There were constant loud noises coming from neighboring rooms, which disrupted our peace and quiet.
I hope these issues can be addressed promptly to improve the experience for future guests.

GROSS

Think twice before you rent this unit 203 not the cleanest. The fridge was full of stuff. I had to get rid of to make room for ours very outdated. We did have ants, but I wasn’t gonna worry about it because I knew I was only staying there one night, kind of a depressing place you can’t sit on the lanai with the air conditioning on because it will blow hot air on you then the condo would get too hot if you shut the air off Cool is very outdated not very nice. You feel like you’re just sitting there looking at walls. We had a humongous spider outside our front door I mean huge so I’m not sure they keep up with their insect spraying I texted with Sharon the owner and told her we were leaving after one night and if she could refund us anything, but she would not there are lots of beautiful places to stay at in Kihei. This place is too dated and the pools dated. Everything needs an upgrade.

Stayed one night out of seven the place was so depressing. We couldn’t wait to get out of there. Owner did not refund.

The pictures on their website must be 20 years old. Keep in mind this is not a new condo. The kitchen needs to be torn out. Roaches everywhere. Even after the dishwasher was run, roaches running over the clean dishes. We finally got rid of them after lots of Raid. 
The building was older,  but in a great location. Our family still had a good time, but if I’d known about the condition of this place, I would have not stayed there.

Great location , but old condo.

We stayed in one of the 2 bedroom units in this large condo complex.  The unit was small but had magnificent views of the ocean and Pool.  The grounds are beautifully maintained.  Gorgeous sunsets on the beach.  Protected swim area in front of condo.  Delicious Indian restaurant on site.

We stayed at Menehune Shores Unit 114. The condo is in a great location in Kihei. We saw beautiful sunsets in the evening & enjoyed morning breakfasts out on our lanai—so calm & peaceful. We loved being on the first floor—it was amazing to walk right out into the yard, & so convenient for unloading. We loved having the little beach right outside & were dazzled by the turtles. The bedrooms were spacious & the A/C worked great at night. The kitchen was well-equipped & it was nice to have space to spread out. We were thankful for the washer & drier, especially at the end of our stay when we could do laundry before packing up. We also really appreciated the beach chairs & beach towels—it was nice to have those for the beach! The condo development is well maintained and has beautiful grounds. 

There were drawbacks to the condo development, none of which the unit owners could do anything about, but are things for potential renters to be aware of. First, the pool is small & always very crowded. Chairs were hard to find, as they were claimed early. We only ended up going to it once. Parking was also a challenge if we got back after sunset. We struggled more than once to find a spot and often had to circle several times. Lastly, the restaurant in the condo development omits a strong odor, so be prepared for that. Again, these aren’t things the individual owners can change & wouldn’t deter us from staying again. 

We had a great experience start to finish with—great communication beforehand, including lots of tips on things to do. Check in & check out were easy as can be. By the end of our week on Maui, it truly felt like home & we were sad to leave to move on to the Big Island. We would stay here again in a heartbeat if we ever make a return trip to Maui!


A Hawaiian Home Away from Home

My husband and I absolutely love Menehune shores. We have stayed many times and love it so much that we ended up buying a condo there! Now we get to come several times a year, and it's our heaven. The location is perfect, only 15 minutes from the airport, and very central to all of the activities throughout Maui. I love the fish pond beach in front because it protects from waves and is super sandy, perfect and safe for swimming and snorkeling. The Indian restaurant on the first floor is delicious too, and the sunset views are to die for. I highly recommend!

We have stayed at this property 5 times and have enjoyed each visit.  The condos are very well appointed, the ground are nicely maintained and the views are beautiful. The property has rooftop grills and seating which allows for wonderful sunsets.

Unit 311 STAY AWAY !  DIRTY and Out Of Date.  VRBO Pics aren't accurate . Upon arrival the unit was hot and dirty. The Toilet hadn't been cleaned and would turn your stomach.  The vanity top was filthy.  The drapes to the balcony had mildew. The unit looks like it hasn't been updated since the 80's.  The carpet must be 25 years old.  I dare you to touch the buttons on the blender without wearing rubber gloves.  And to top it off when we complained, the owner was very difficult to deal with.  


Unit 311 - Stay Away Dirty and Out Of Date

Like others below, we also stayed in unit 118.

Prob the most poorly maintained unit in the whole building but you get what you pay for with this cheap price (cheap for a 3 bedroom).
And when I say maintained I’m talking to the owner. The management company and the maintenance crew can only do so much, it’s up to the owners.
The room is worn… let’s get down to a few details. 
Kitchen- everything works but it really needs a new stove. The dial for the temp has the numbers so worn off I could barely tell what temp it was at (no display screen)
But there is a lot of stuff in the kitchen so that was a bonus. Dishwasher also worked great.
When we first arrive there was teeny tiny ants all over the kitchen (smaller then sugar ants) so we promptly bought ant killer that baited all of them in and they drank the kool aid and away they went. The next day bigger ants arrived because they heard there was a buffet offered (sugar ant size) they also drank the kool aid and were gone. No more ants in the 2 weeks we stayed.

Living room…
Basic.. patio furniture for indoor furniture.. all lights are on a plug in system (wall sconces and dining light, just gotta figure that out. Also fan switch is on the wall beside kitchen entrance. 

Bathroom 1..
Plug in doesn’t work, dated, ripped wall paper and medicine cabinet is disgusting and rusty. 

Bathroom 2(in bedroom)..shower needs replacing, I got down on my hands and feet and scrubbed the heck out of it and it’s still filthy but all cracked so no amount of cleaning will save that one. 
Also a hole in the drywall, that I promptly stuffed with aluminum foil to prevent cockroaches (as per a previous person said) but bonus..plug-ins worked 

Bedroom 1- (king size) the top blanket is gross and worn, washed it but didn’t use it.. bed was ok, room is basic. 2 build in closets were great for unpacking our clothing!

Bedroom 2-(Queen)- stain on the mattress that was discovered halfway through our trip 😬😬 gross 
Also forgot about using the ceiling fan, it needs to be plugged in and because the cord isn’t attached to the ceiling the fan just hits the cord.. also the queen bedroom has bifold doors that were off their track but my husband thankfully fixed.

Bedroom 3- (2 twins) this room was sufficient for my kids, there is a mat in the closet that I put between the beds as a crash pad, as they usually sleep with bed rails, dresser in the closet for clothing storage.

Washer and dryer work fine, someone previously commented that it was full of sand.. I wouldn’t expect anything else being that close to the beach .

The major plus here is that the storage room is FULL of everything you need for the beach.. chairs, toys, umbrellas, sun shade for babies, pool noodles, multiple snorkels and masks, a beach wagon, even a high chair!

You can’t beat the location, it just needs a bit of work.
Would I stay in this unit again? No
Would I stay at menehune shores again? Yes.

About the building: the upstairs and pool
Side bbqs are cleaned every single day! I can’t stay enough good about the maintenance crew. Don’t confuse the management with the maintenance either,
Two very different companies.
The pool is fantastic, though chilly some days! Pool area and grounds are kept really clean and tidy!

Our visit

Starting with the positive....the location is great and the ocean view is spectacular.  The condo unit 118 is very old and in need of maintenance and a thorough cleaning.  
. electrical outlets in the main bathroom don't work
. when using the stove, experienced electric shocks. This was repaired after 3 days.
. holes in the bathroom wall (appears there may have been shelves that were removed)
. blinds in the front room were dirty and didn't have cords
.carpet in the patio torn
.stains on the living room curtains
