First I want to start by saying the staff was very friendly.  This would be the third time I have stayed at this inn, but the first time post Covid.

The pub is a fun place to relax after a long day on the trail or for whatever brought you to Vermont.

We booked a room that was dog friendly, as this was the first time we were traveling with our little sidekick.

Please note, I have an extensive history in public safety and post retirement a decade in hospitality safety, so I know what I am talking about.

Upon arrival, we checked in around 1700 on 9 October 2022.  The room was musty smelling, the bed and furniture old and uncomfortable.  The cleanness of certain areas of the suite were questionable.  In addition, although sold as a fire place suite, it appeared to be an electric fireplace with no clear way to turn on.  The worst parts of the room were how dark it was and overly warm with no way to get decent ventilation.  

From a safety point of view we turned on one lamp and it sparked from a frayed wire, which we quickly unplugged.  In addition, there was old wiring, not sure if it was an old fire alarm system stapled to the ceiling.

Finally, the room had hard keys, not computer fobs. with the room number on the tag.  This is against all safety standards in this day and age, as it allows a bad person to view room numbers or if a key is lost to enter that room.  It is also very prevalent for bad actors to copy have obtained copies of these keys.  Also note there was no safety locking bar to keep the occupants protected in the room from unauthorized access as they slept.

My wife and I went to dinner in Killington and both decided that we didn’t want to stay there.  We were extremely disappointed.

We returned to check out, after only being there for 2-hours for a three day stay.

The young lady was extremely nice, but what upset me was she made no offer to at least reimburse me one or two of the nights that I had booked.

The reality is I wouldn’t recommend the Inn at the Long Trail to any travelers.

Disappointed

My wife and I stayed here because of its out back access to The AT trail as well as the The Long trail. Murray and his staff have a great handle on travelers needs and offers a lovely breakfast as well as a great place to eat dinner and grab a cocktail. Everyone was very helpful and helped when it was needed. Must stay location even if you are not a hiker. 

Great Location

Use to love this place,our last visit my husband and I went with my sister and brother in law, we hadn't seen them in awhile so we go into the pub to catch up, apparently we were having too much fun even though we only had a few drinks, the bartender (owners son?)asked us who was driving I said were spending the night, he said ok but your husband keeps going outside, I said I know he's a smoker, now we are all in our 60's very responsible even the tables around us were taken aback, so we decide to go into game room instead and play scrabble, he kept looking in on us, I have never felt so unwelcome at a place before, this wouldn't have happened if Owen was there 

Family hiking trip

We had visited the pub several times, then we ended up staying there. From the beginning we felt so comfortable, good beverages, great food. Our first overnight didn't let us down, again great no frills lodging, Super comfortable, and EVERYONE was so kind/nice/helpful, and the breakfast.. WOW...service was great/attentive and the portions were over the top!!! 
The rooms were really simple and very clean!! Common area is so nice.

Absolutely Love this Inn

 Traveling Vermont. Found this lovely old Inn. Accomodations were great with a fireplace in our setting room. Supper in the Irish themed pub. Food and desert were excellent. Breakfast in the main dining room was incredable. Pub and dining room were built over mountain rock outcrop. We will be stopping here again.

Great Find

Stopped while hiking the Appalachian trail. Very relaxing and friendly place. Food and staff excellent. Irish theme and bar top of the list.  The furnishings are as expected in an Vermont inn I Will return again soon

Great place

This is always a great stop after a day out skiing or hiking. One of our regular stops each time we are in the area for some cold guinness pints and delicious food. Great location between pico and killington.

A great stop after a day outdoors

If you want a place that exudes charm, has a very friendly staff, and excellent food—and you don’t mind roughing it a little—then this place is for you.  This family-owned B&B style inn, reportedly the first ski lodge in Vermont, was a fun step back in time for me and my family on a ski trip. The staff, many of whom are members of the family that owns it, are helpful, laid back, and aim to please.  

The rooms are small and dated, with no frills, but we didn’t come to hang out in the room. No TV or phone, but the wifi works just fine. Rooms are heated with steam radiators that seem to have a kind of their own, so if you get hot, crack the window. We stayed during sub-zero temps and didn’t need blankets at night.  The rooms facing the highway get a little traffic noise so if that bothers you request one on the back side.  Mattresses aren’t the best but after a hard day of skiing it didn’t matter. 

The lobby is charming and a great place to hang out, read a book by the fire, play a game or put together a puzzle, or strum a guitar, they have two on the wall that are in tune.  The only issue we had here was a slightly unpleasant “off” smell that hopefully is temporary. 

The food was great.  Breakfast is included, good portion size, and very yummy. There is also pub food in the attached Irish Pub, also great, but the gem is the full dinner at night. At Rosemary’s. The menu was full of fish, chicken, beef, and pasta options. Everything looked and smelled outstanding. Had the mussels appetizer which were phenomenal, and prime rib. My daughter has the salmon Wellington- both fantastic and we couldn’t finish it all. Seating is limited so make a reservation.  If you can’t get in, the bar food is also great.  One caution, If you book directly with the Inn, dinner on Fridays and Saturdays are included with your stay, but if you book through Killington it is NOT.  

McGrath’s Irish pub is the quintessential Irish pub, first one in VT to serve Guinness and they know how to pour it. It’s hard to tell who is a first time guest and who is a regular because the staff greet everyone by name and they get to know yours right away. Weekends have  live music and you order pub grub, which is substantial. 

This is an old-style inn and the rooms aren’t much, but everything else makes up for it.  If you aren’t up for the rustic rooms, stay somewhere else but this place is worth a stop for an excellent dinner and fun time in the pub.

Charming Inn, great staff, excellent food, with rustic rooms.

Stayed overnight on a rainy day/night to take a break from hiking the LT.  Huge breakfast included, plenty of board games, instruments, and lively bar (with Irish  music some nights).  I would definitely return with family or friends.

Interesting place to stop

Stayed in the fireplace suite, has a gas fireplace very easy to turn on and off. Living are has a desk and futon couch. Bedroom has a comfortable queen size bed. Limited wifi in the room. It included breakfast, the blueberry pancakes are delicious with Vermont maple syrup.
The inn has an Irish pub, great food and a great selection of Irish whiskey and beer.
