During check-in, Sam, the owner, went out of his way to share the history of the hotel with us, and then gave us a very detailed map with directions about how to get to Kingman.  He had a TV on in the office and we started chatting about what we were watching.  Check-in turned into an hour-long chat, and we enjoyed it so much, we went back to pick up where we left off after we grabbed dinner. (He recommended we try the 50's diner and order the root beer. It was delicious). 
One conversation led to another with Sam and his wife, and the next thing we knew, it was 11 pm.  
As for the room, if you are looking for the Ritz Carlton, you will be disappointed. If you are looking for an authentic mom-n-pop route 66 motel to support that has clean rooms and a hot shower after a long day of exploring for a really good price, this place is for you. 


Fun Mom-n-Pop Route 66 themed hotel.

Vintage lodging, full of character, clean, comfortable, more floor space than the typical room.  We had a little kitchen area.  The folks that own and run it are friendly and accommodating.   We will be happy to stay with them again on our next trip thru there.  An added plus was a mini history lesson on the area.  It is pet friendly.

The dirtiest hotel I’ve ever seen, the bed was stained, there was skin particles in the bed and insecticide spray was used prior to our arrival. They advertised laundry and it was out of order. There was also mold in the shower. 

Foul and Disgusting Hotel

Veterans o my god. My father and mother which are homeless veterans stayed here. Charged him $1000 for a month and $150 deposit very ran down and and they had no heat. When it was time to leave the motel they left it cleaner than received. And when they went to get the deposit back they had to come back 3 times all day and kept getting the runaround. So I came in to help my homeless veteran parents the third time to get it. I have never seen such a rude fat ass man treat a veteran like the way Sam treated my parents. Just because they are homeless doesn’t mean you can treat anyone like this. When I came in I had told Sam that he was very disrespectful to do that to them, I had told Sam that they were homeless veterans and they needed there deposit back. And he screamed at me and said he was a veteran which I do not believe him. No real veteran treats veterans like this this guy is a fraud. 
Stay were you want. But please take a stand for our veterans.

I love the fact that this is a old Route 66 motel with tons of history. Sadly, it needs to be refurbished. The doors do need to be replaced. The bathrooms are small but that was common for motels long ago. The tiles are dated. So much could be done if the owner put money and time into it. I am good with a old motel but this goes beyond that. After a long day a history lesson is not what we were looking for a good night's sleep is. This town has many options in rooms. Try something else.

A nice old Route 66 Motel they're as I like it. If you want standard, you can stay in the chain hotels. Here the boss still gets himself and tells everything the guest needs to know about Kingman, AZ and the surrounding area especially the history of the city👍 The rooms are old style still with the old bathrooms😍 It works everything, it's very clean, with refrigerator, microwave and flat screen and A/C The rooms all have a name from the former movie stars who stayed here.

One of these places on Route 66

WE wanted to stay in an old Rt 66 motel on the final legs of our trip.  The room itself was large however the bathroom was another story.  It was so small that you hit your head on the sink when sitting on the toilet.  The shower was like a dark cave with no lights.  The tile was old and looked filthy with mildew.  There was only one light abobe the sink.  Although we found no bugs like some of the other reviewers, the door appeared rotting and not very stable.  The murals around the front of the building are lovely but the trach and garbage around the back and sides is a bit much.  The owner is very well versed on the history of Kingman and Rt 66 and would have talked for hours if we had let him. Probably the worst place we stayed on our Rt 66 trip.

Don't Stay Here

Cute Route 66 motel but worn and seen it’s days.  was so relieved when we checked out. Had roaches in our room.  Ran into another guest at a diner down the street for breakfast. They were horrified because they also had roaches in their room.  Bathrooms are in bad need of updating.  Doors to the rooms are rotting and you can see right through them in spots.  AC was very noisy in our room.  Hate leaving bad reviews but I don’t want others to have the same experience. I hope the owners can invest in upgrading and an exterminator.

Not so good and would not recommend

Pulled in, the motel is not a 3 4 or 5 star. This is a by-pass motel. Look elsewhere for a RT 66 hotel. Motel is old, as in not looking like a location to stay at. We took a close look, after stepping over the sandbag items by the office door we decided this was not a place for us. We spent the prior 2 nights in old RT 66 motels. They were both excellent for older motels. This location is appears as if it is still ol. Just old. Oh did I mention the doors with what appears to be rotted wood? Or the broken glass? Not for us. Other locations in the area would be a better choice.

The 5 and 4 star reviews are not real

Fabulous place, themed rooms dedicated to movie stars. Place has a rich history which the owner is more than willing to share. You are given a warm welcome and are made to feel part of the place. Clean and tidy. In close proximity to everything you may need.
