This place was great! Recently remodeled - everything was clean and updated.  Great to be able to have my dog.  A bit of road noise but hey, it's on the road.  Lovely access to river with chairs and bbq pit.  Great staff.  I would stay again!! One warning (not the fault of the hotel).  I could not find dinner.  The only restaurant within 35 minutes was a Korean place.  Everyone said it was great.  I ordered and paid for take out then was told it would take over an hour to get my food.  Bring your own food and cook it there.

Great place!

My son and two of my grandchildren stayed here. They just got home and couldn't say enough good things about their stay. We were very pleased with our stay at Sierra Inn.  The rooms were newly upgraded and they were impeccably clean.  The river is right there, and it was nireally relaxing to just sit by the river and have wine with our family, which BTW the wine was supplied by Sierra Inn.  They also had bonus breakfast muffins and were super generoud with bottled water and anything else we could ask for.  This is a high service, quality place for a great price.  We skied Sierra at Tahoe and were happy with the mountain (much less crowded as the big resorts with plenty of slopes for even us kinda-block-diamond-skiers).  And Moon's is only a mile away and you can't beat the friendly food there. We will be back!

What a Gem!

We found this well-placed hotel a year ago and had such wonderful experience that we brought the family back again this ski season.  It is even better this year, with all the remodeling the new owners have done.  The parking lot and roof are brand new.  We had three rooms and all of them had been completely renovated - I especially loved the ceiling mounted showerheads.  They were also installing electric heaters in the stairs, which is a great idea to keep the ice off.  

The location is ideal - a short drive to the ski areas, but closer to Sacramento and the Bay Area.  Saves us an hour each way, which is key for me because I am the driver and am usually tired from skiing all day.

But the best thing about this place are the owners.  Craig and Amber are wonderful hosts.  They are friendly and generous and we could tell they genuinely wanted us have a comfortable stay.

Last but not least, the price is right, especially compared to Tahoe hotels.

Great find!

Very nice and very friendly staff. The newly renovated rooms are nice and the beds are very comfortable. Would gladly stay there again. Was nice having the river right behind the Inn. They also have a small fire pit for public use.

Nice and cozy

Arrived after hours to what looks like a recenelty remodeled hotel!! Very clean hardwood floors, and all appliances look and work like new. Thers is a nice picnic area out front of my room where I was able to eat my dinner- My room was also spacious and had a comfortable bed! Thank you to the Sierra Inn for a very comfortable and pleasant stay!

I stay there last week , very clean room comfortable bed and good location surrounded by beautiful view, my daughter and husband loved it .If you like nature and comfortable stay I highly recommend it.


Natural beauty , nice and clean

A very delightful stay right on the river. Rooms were very clean and A/C blows like winter. There is also a full kitchen that guest can use and multiple grills for those that cook. Lake has trout too, so bring your fishing gear! My wife and I will definitely stay again.

Wonderful getaway right on the river

What a wonderful inn. The rooms were clean and the staff exceptional. They made us feel welcome and at home!!! The beds were comfortable. I shall be back soon!!! its close to Wrights Lake where there are numerous birds and mammals !!!

Love this Inn!!!

Nice, clean, and simple with a very friendly manager. This is the perfect so for a trip to Desolation Wilderness. We booked two rooms, and one had a very pretty, newly renovated bathroom. The other was older but still clean and roomy. We wanted adjoined rooms, but when we arrived late at night, the door between the rooms was locked, but it was not a big deal
