The location is the resort is beautiful! It’s tucked in near the beach where there is the most delicious and cutest fruit stand. It was very easy to check in as they text and email you your code. We stayed in a 1-bedroom suite for 4 nights and the layout was clean and spacious. You can easily walk out to the lawn where they have different activities everyday from massages, yoga classes, happy hour and live performances. Most of the extra activities are included with your stay. You have access to grills or can easily cook in your room. The resort is only a 15 minute drive to Lahaina. Beautiful view of Lanai from the resort and you can see Molokai and sometimes Kahoolawe from the beach. You walk right down the stairs for beach access where the water is crystal
Clear and sandy. Right around the corner is the bay where many sea turtles rest. & if you don’t want a beach day then there are 2 pools that are great for adults and children! The best part of the resort is the feeling of aloha and Ohana atmosphere. The general manager, Tano makes himself available for introductions and you see him making sure everyone has a chair to sit on during the performances or sweeping the sand off the deck in the morning. You won’t get a more personalized stay and the feeling of aloha anywhere else. Hoping we can return next summer! 

Beautiful views & amazing resort

Napili is always a beautiful place to gather with family and friends, amazing sunsets, lots of water activities-snorkel, paddle board, swim and surf. Accommodations make it easy to prepare dinner and enjoy the star filled evenings with lots of space for adults to mingle and for children to play. Love this special piece of paradise💕

Beautiful Napili

My family and I recently had an unforgettable experience at Napili Surf Resort, and it's safe to say that it is the ultimate destination for a family gathering. From start to finish, our stay was filled with joy and relaxation, making it a truly memorable four days.

The staff were simply outstanding. Always wearing a warm smile, they were attentive, courteous, and went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We received daily text updates about activities - massage, yoga, sunset entertainment, monthly polynesian show, etc.

The rooms at Napili Surf Resort were a delight. Not only were they spacious enough to accommodate our large family comfortably, but they were also fully stocked with everything we needed. It felt like a home away from home.

The location of the resort is unbeatable – right on the beach! We loved waking up to the soothing sound of waves and being just steps away from the ocean. The kids had a blast at the pool, in the ocean, and tossing footballs on the spacious lawn.  The stunning sunsets offers the best photo memories.

As for the facilities, the resort's BBQ area exceeded all our expectations. It was undoubtedly the cleanest and most well-maintained BBQ spot we've ever encountered. It was the perfect spot for family cookouts, and we used it daily!

Napili Surf Resort provided us with the perfect family gathering experience  – it truly has it all.  We can't wait to return for more unforgettable memories!

Best Family Gathering Spot

If it were just about the management, I’d happily give 5+ stars. Paul was so accommodating and flexible and just really so lovely to deal with from start to finish. They are lucky to have him and he is great at what he does. 

The accommodation itself was 2 stars and frankly, I’m a bit baffled by all the glowing reviews and wonder if a lot of them are from the owners themselves? 

I think my expectations were not in line with this property, and that was the problem. Firstly, It’s a misnomer to call this a “resort” and I think it’s a bit misleading. It’s really more of what I would call a motel. I think even calling it an “inn” would be a promotion. Also the description about the distance from the rooms to the beach might be technically accurate but we were in the back building and had to cross two concrete parking lots and go through 2 gates, then cross a lawn to get to the access to the beach so we really felt we were more in a highway motel then in a “resort” adjacent to one of Maui’s most lauded beaches.

If you’re going to stay here, I would highly recommend you NOT stay in the back building (I think those would be rooms that end in 22-29?). Apart from feeling like we were on the side of a road, the rooms are so dark back there that we felt they were quite depressing. I would definitely check out the property on Google Earth.

Also, the air conditioning unit was one of those plug in models that is pretty loud so just be prepared for that and if you’re a light sleeper, you may want to bring ear plugs and an eye mask as there are A LOT of lights in the room - you have your plug-in air conditioner and the. the internet modem with about 6 lights flashing all the time, the TV, clocks, kitchen appliances.

One of the most important parts of any stay is the bed / sheets / pillow. We stayed in a room with a pullout sofa so my teenage daughter and I could stay in separate beds. Unfortunately, the pullout was so uncomfortable that she ended up in the main bed with me and I didn’t sleep … honestly, I couldn’t wait to leave.

On the plus side, the kitchen was well-equipped and the closet had beach chairs and an umbrella which was a nice touch, there was a sweet little book cabinet next to reception where you could borrow / swap books. 

We though the beach was heavily overrated - both Napili and Kapalua were overrun with people. Even at 7am and 7pm, the beach was swarming with people. We also stayed at Kaanapali and much preferred that beach as it was equally calm but much longer with plenty of places to find a little space for yourself.

I really wish I was able to leave a glowing review and I’d say that if you like camping and you like cooking dinner for the family on a BBQ, you might really like this place. It felt like an upmarket campsite. But I also really wish I had read a review like this before I booked as I would have reconsidered.

Motel, not a resort

This was our second visit to Napili Surf. This visit was just as great as the first. We rented three condos for our family of 10. Each was perfect for us. Beautiful location, immaculate grounds and great staff.  I would highly recommend to anyone. If we’re fortunate enough to ever return to Maui, we will definitely be back.

Another great visit

We had a great a vacation. The place was clean. Had lots of amenities.  BBQ grills to use. Outside dinning tables. Pool. Location was right on the beach.  Lounge chairs to use by the pool. Laundry room facilities.   The staff were great. They had yoga a few times a week.

Great place to stay in Napili.

The Napili Surf Beach Resort is a hidden gem of Maui. I say hidden because while it is on the west side of Maui, it is tucked in Napili Bay and away from the giant international branded hotel mega-resorts. Nevertheless, shopping, world-class dining, and hotel mega-resorts are only about 15 minutes away. Although I've traveled widely, the staff's ability to anticipate our wants and needs was remarkable. The GM, Tano, and his lovely wife, Angela, make this resort feel like we came home. It is great for kids, too, especially the little ones who might need supervision in the gentle surf of a family-friendly beach.

It was like coming home

Clean,  well appointed room. Modern appliances. Beautiful bathroom. Excellent views and easy beach access.  Convenient outdoor barbeque grills. Beautiful grounds and landscaping. Wonderful snorkeling on the edges of the bay. Responsive staff (we had an issue with the internet in our room which was resolved immediately). 

Amazing Beach Getaway

We were so happy to stay here! We didn’t arrive until 10pm but the hotel staff emailed us all we needed to know to check in and the code to unlock our door. We were so glad that we did not to have to keep track of a key since we were almost always snorkeling!  Our room, 222, was literally just steps aways from a gorgeous beach. The bed was large with tons of comfy pillows. We always had a ton of fresh towels. We would he happy to stay here again!

Amazing spot!

We had our 40th wedding anniversary in July.  So, we brought 3 other couples with us.  We wanted especially to stay at the Napili Surf because we have been there many times before.  It is just such a special resort.  If you want to feel like you are in an old time Hawaiian resort with no high rises and a family experience.....please come here.  Everyone says hello, they have breakfast on one day a week and they have a cocktail hour on another.  Just so special.
