Fridge needed new fan.
Terrible odor dishwasher.
Sinking in cushions on couch. (would be perfect for a fraternity)
Bed entire sinking/rolling toward center.
Our ocean view only from far end of patio.
We were told we had an ocean view… well… see our picture of our ocean view.
Our 1st and last visit to The Sands of Kahana.  
If you choose to go hopefully your experience will be better than ours!!
If you’re told you have an ocean view just cross your fingers and hope!!

Oh, please think twice!!!!

This resort has it all! Awesome kiddie pool for the little ones, great views, private beach, and a quality restaurant on site. Everything is very clean and well maintained. Beds are not the most comfortable.

Fantastic for families!

Location is great, easy beach access for relaxing, unit is spacious, kitchen is well equipped, bed is comfortable, balcony is helpful for use to enjoy coffee and meals if desired, washer/dryer invaluable for convenience

This resort was great, the folks there were all friendly and our concierge Ashley helped set us up with activities like whale watching, Ocean Center Aquarium, dinner cruise and an all day excursion with Chase on the Road to Hana tour. All are worth the time if you want to explore the island. Had a great week exploring, swimming and learning the history of Maui. 

First time to Maui - loved it!

The headline for our stay was that there was a problem with mice in our unit, which was on a higher floor in building 4. The resort did move us to another unit, but the report of mice was not a surprise to the folks at the desk and there was not a lot of urgency to find us another room.

Both units that we were in (pre-move and post-move) were appointed nicely. As far as kitchens go, Sands of Kahana had the best stocked kitchen (in terms of utensils, kitchen tools, etc.) that we've seen in our travels. The units were also stocked well with towels and blankets. The beds are probably nearing the end of their lives, but they were comfortable enough for our stay. None of the units have air conditioning, but the breeze combined with the louvers on the windows kept us nice and cool.

The resort itself has gorgeous views from the ocean-view rooms. The beach is nice and the resort has plenty of chairs for your use. The pools are spotless and there are hot tubs in both pool areas -- we frequented those at night! 

On to the big issue - I went to the kitchen at about 8:30pm to grab some water and heard something rustling in the trash can. I opened the cabinet and was greeted by four or five mice having a party. We stayed in the unit that night since it was late, and some of our food on the counter, though wrapped, had bite marks in the morning. There were mouse droppings under the sink when we checked. The resort moved us the next day upon request, but they didn't seem surprised by the report and there wasn't a lot of urgency to accommodate us.

If you've never been to Maui before, take a look at the location of the things you'd like to see in relation to this property. We've stayed up by Lahaina a couple of times, and it's always a drive to get to other parts of the island. West of Lahaina, it's mostly resorts and some decent public beaches. If you're looking to drive the road to Hana or go to the National Parks, staying here will add 45 mins to your drive.

There is no EV charger at the resort, but there is one about a block away and we left our car there overnight a couple of times, and it worked well for us.

Nice resort with one big issue: mice

I had the most relaxing vacation of my life. Everything went as it should. The staff was very kind and accommodating. The suite was facing the ocean with a view of the sunsets and we had a wonderful breeze that would keep our suite fresh and comfortable. I would definitely go back again.

Vacation in Paradise

I was shocked at the size of the 3 bedroom it was huge. On the third floor corner unit it was great.  Not a full view but good enough. Small but inviting beach. Lots of turtles in the water. Pool was ok too. Restaurant had happy hour. Food was pretty good and reasonable. Would love to go every year. Missed the fires by 30 days. 😩

Great family vacation 

Was there right after the terrible fire is in Lahaina. Around 2-3 weeks later. We were not notified that all the amenities were being closed due to staffing shortages. The resort’s next door had full service even their restaurants were open. I wanted to leave but RCI manager said that they closed all the resorts in in the Hawaiian islands. Lies.. called Wyhndham got a room in Honolulu. 

Crown Property…. Joke

Our unit  was in the back of the building , in our bedroom window was a trash can , make a lot a noise early in the morning!!! our view form our living  balcony  another  container full of trash !!!
We found cockroach in the kitchen!!

This resort is not what it appears in a the photographs displayed. The staff is unfriendly and the rooms are filthy with lots of cockroaches. There is no room cleaning even though they charge you for it. The whole place needs a makeover.

We rented 2 rooms 9 months prior to arriving and requested the rooms be together on the same floor. They were not, the best they could do was put us in the same building, apparently that was THE BEST THEY COULD DO.

We will not be returning nor will we recommend this resort to anyone.
