"Thank you for your hospitality" is a phrase I often use when leaving someone's home, or a vacation resort on the beach. Because I leave with a feeling of being "home/with all the amenities". This is exactly how my husband & I felt for the 2.5+ months extended stay we had at Hillview Cottages. I could write a BOOK listing all the great things with this location. But I will surmise it with, the Host, Mr. Tom, his lovely wife Michelle, rest of family and their staff  made us feel SO DARN WELCOME. We stayed in the Chalet (OH MAN IT IS BEEEE-AUUUU-TIFUL), we were lucky, and it had EVERYTHING in that 2 bedroom lovely space. Especially the view...what a lovely, relaxing, serene, calm, beautiful, peaceful place. It's exactly what we needed. Our stay was from late Winter to early Sprint. It was so great to be able to COOK and not eat junk food/have to do expensive food orders. We had never been to Lake George before...suffice it to say...WE ARE GOING BACK...to Hillview Cottages too, don't really want to try out any other places. The host, Mr. Tom, staff (the lovely Fallon, Chris, Kara and others) are some serious hard working, but jovial and respectful bunch. And Mr. Tom's wife had us cracking up every time we met up. We were in Lake George for almost 7 months on business, we went from hotel to hotel, then we found and spent the last 2.5+ at the Hillview Cottages and we felt so blessed to be there. The business trip turned into a lovely "home away from home" vacation...as we were so very relaxed. Thank you guys for making us feel so welcome, thank you for your hard work daily on the property, and thank you for giving us someplace lovely to visit, come Fall season! That's where we will be headed. All our best for the coming Summer season. The property is exactly as the pictures attached...quiet, peaceful, beautiful, woodsy, rustic charm, great view of Lake George, with all the amenities.

Exactly what we needed!

I traveled to Lake George with a party of 3 plus my dog for the Ice Castles last weekend. We booked the 2-bedroom chalet at the Hill View Motel and Cottages. When we were on our way to Lake George, we received word that the Ice Castles had been cancelled for the weekend. We were already in-route for the hotel but knew that our two night stay was no longer necessary given the cancelled plans. When we arrived, it was past 9:00pm. We called the contact person and explained the situation. She reached out to the owner for us who agreed to cancel our 2nd night and not charge us even though we were under contract. Given the late cancellation and the near-impossibility of re-booking the room for the following night, the owner was under no obligation to be so accommodating but he was incredibly gracious. I give this place 5 stars not only for the outstanding customer service but for also for the beauty of the chalet. We thoroughly enjoyed our night at the chalet and found it to be clean, comfortable, and the view was absolutely breath-taking. And my dog loved it too!  I had to literally carry him to the car the next morning because he refused to leave. We were all thoroughly impressed with the Hill View Motel and Cottages and cannot speak highly enough about the customer service. Superb.

Accommodating Owner

My wife and I stayed in cottage #28 last month. It has been recently remodeled with new knotty pine paneling, tile floors, tub and shower, and appliances. The 2 bedrooms are very basic but roomy with 3 Queen beds in total. The furniture was older, but met our needs. The cottage can sleep about 6 people, but the single bathroom and limited seating in the living room might be a little tight.
The staff was very friendly and helpful the few times we needed them.
Our 8 year old grandson, staying in another cottage, enjoyed the rowboat we were able to use at the sister resort across the street, and the life jackets available there were new and good quality. The boys   also enjoyed the pool, which was very clean.
Our Granddog also enjoyed her stay, but couldn't join us at the sister resort, as pets are not allowed there.

Great deal for a basic cottage

We stayed at Hill View for four nights in early August. A phone call let us know the office would be closed when we arrived about 6pm, and that we'd be in room 35 (I think) and the door would be open with the key on the table. No problem. The linens were wrapped up in plastic bags, so we made the beds ourselves but at least we were assured no one else had used them. They did not clean the room during our stay (because of the pandemic), which was certainly fine. 

The room had a microwave and fridge, which is always nice. The deck out front had a table with umbrella and four chairs. You could see Lake George down the hill and a short walk could take you to the water's edge. I like that the hotel was in a quieter area (Diamond Point). The pool was nice, with plenty of chairs and some pool toys. There was a ping-pong table, with paddles and balls left out so they could be used at any time. Similarly the simple mini-golf course had available clubs and balls. 

Downsides: the towels were thin and there weren't any extra. There were absolutely no decorations in the room (wall art, etc) which gave the place a very barren feel.  The mini-golf had a faded, rundown look to it. The pool was a bit chilly but I'm not sure if the website said it was heated or not.  There is no sidewalk leading to the resort down the busy-ish road that gave lake access.

Overall we were happy with our choice. The Lake George area is a nice spot to visit during this pandemic summer. Lots of outdoor dining and activities -- everyone wearing masks. We enjoyed our visits to Adirondack Extreme, Fort Ticonderoga, Prospect Mt, a little shopping in Lake George Village, and some hiking in Saratoga Springs.

Nice location, good price

Stayed there 1 years ago, and I cannot say enough bad things about it.Even left a day early since it was so bad.
Let's see where do I start-the place is certainly,"special".
When you drive in you see the quaint little cottages framed by a beautiful honest the top of the hill.Sort of like a "masters house" with the cottages similar to slave quarters in the pre-civil war south.
The dirty looks I received from my wife and daughter when they viewed the interior with a 50 year old dumpy sofa(no chairs) a 19 inch tv,all the curtains and blinds broken, cracked or missing, a kitchen right out of the 50's,and best of Allakaket shower head that would be tight to stand under for a midget.
As we made our way latter to a pool that had it's last upkeep during the second world war,we observed a hot tub with a host of dead fly's floating on the top of the water.
It gets better and beter the long you stay, since you question your sanity in picking such a dump.
The brochures are nothing like reality.What a dump and a rip-off.

➖ -No land phone in the room , we need to use our phone even to call “the reception” ... not practical from non-US number 
-2 Very thin pillows on bed.
-Coffee machine  available but no coffee bags ! How are we supposed to know that we need to bring our coffee and which kind ? Since there are so many different brands
So we bought a Maxwell instant coffee and used the microwave to heat water:)
-Poor internet connection , had to reconnect every 10min
-Very small washroom
-No facility at all in the resort , minimum 10 min driving to any store.
- Need to cross a busy street to get to the lake
- the only staff we saw was a lady at the entrance of the facility (office open 9 to 4)

Not impressed

We stayed here for a long weekend.  Pet-friendly was required, and this is a great place for the dog.  The cottages are spacious, very clean, and the staff friendly.  The rooms are dated, TV small, and bring some LEDs, the wattage is low.  However, the views are awesome, porch dining is great, and the set-back from the road provides quiet.  It would be hard to find a better value.  The dog raved about the furniture.

Outstanding Value

We rented a cottage( 2 bed rooms and kitchen, small eating space and living) and it was comfortable for 5. Nice front porch made the cottage bigger to eat. Free wifi was great even outside. Pool was very clean and access to the beach is a bit tricky to cross the street but it is worth to do free boating. very friendly stuff.

Great place for everyone and dog!

The owner and Staff at Hillview cottages in Lake George for exceptionally informative and very helpful. Our family found the cottage  clean and comfortable. They allow dogs and that an added bonus. The location is close to the town and everything we wanted to do. However,the owner should warn their guests not to go exploring across the street at the Golden Sands resort because the owner is crazy. Otherwise our stay was very very nice and I would return.

First time at Lake George

Great for family vacation or long weekend getaway. Friendly staff, clean and well maintained property . Close to Lake George Village and all surrounding attractions. Will be back for sure. Highly recommended. Thank you.
