Got a nice lake side view apartment. Service was good. I wish to return to this place next year too.  Easy and fast checkin process. Had a very good relaxing time with Family in this resort.Felt Safety as well.

Pleasant Stay

We were very impressed with the quality and cleanliness of the room. The most important thing for us is that everything is very clean. I appreciate the effort that the staff are making to ensure that we feel comfortable. The parking was problematic. There was no place for us to park as there was always someone in our spot and there were no other spaces available but the staff made every effort to correct this problem. They did their best to help find us a place to park under the circumstances. It was impossible to park near our room.

My Boyfriend and I stayed at Depe Dene this past weekend Sept 15 to Sept 17, 2023. I wanted to write to stay how wonderful my stay was. I was with my boyfriend who is disabled. When we first got there I didn’t realized I booked a townhouse which had the bedrooms on the second floor .. the staff was wonderful and exchanging our townhouse for a beautiful cabin.
We were able to Kayak with the staff Matt helping my boyfriend wrap some gauge tape we had around his left arm to the paddle so that he was able to paddle the kayak with me. Matt also called to assist my boyfriend in getting back to our cabin by golf cart. The staff taking him to the cabin also Matt was amazing.
We were very satisfied with our cabin. thank you so much for the great care we were given over the weekend.
We will be back!!!!

Wonderful weekend at Depe Dene

The staff couldn't have been nicer, we were given an upgrade because there was space and it was so appreciated!  The cabin was very clean and comfortable.  We loved the deck overlooking the lake, absolutely gorgeous view.  We will be back!

Lovely Experience!

Nice location, interesting outlay of the property with wonderful harbor, nice beach, a lot of docks for boats (necessary for us), terrific views and nice amenities, like swings and benches sloping to the beach. Really comfortable atmosphere. Very good and comfortable cottage. Probably the furniture needs a refresh. Posting plans of the property at various junctions could help too.

My siblings and I grew up vacationing at this resort in the 80s & 90s. Prior to last week, we had not been back since 1994. We booked the trip for nostalgia purposes and were hesitant/concerned because of the number of recent negative reviews. My family and I rented 3 estate cottages and were very happy with the accommodations. The people that worked at the resort were lovely- always happy and helpful. The beach was great for our large group with kids. We never had a hard time getting beach chairs, kayaks or paddle boards. The salt water pool is open until 10 PM and was also wonderful. The playground area was great for the young children as well. We did not have any issues with cleanliness or bugs. The only noteworthy adjustment was that the property only has single & full sized beds. My husband and I have a king sized bed at home so sleeping in a full sized bed was extra “cozy” lol. Our family is already planning to return next summer and can’t wait!

Reading some of the reviews about Depe Dene made me second guess my decision to book a room, I was ready to cancel. Honestly, I am really glad I didn't my family and I enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning next summer. 
We have visited Lake George in the past but did not stay at a hotel in the area.
Here are my thoughts on Depe Dene......
The woman working at the front desk was very helpful and informative when we arrived.
Our room decor was definitely dated, and I am glad I brought my own blankets (the ones provided were scratchy). The bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette and living space were spotless. I did not see any mold, bugs or smell anything terrible. The air conditioner worked well. Our room overlooked a small playground (we have kids, so this was perfect). There was a table and four chairs on the patio as well as a small charcoal grill.
The views from the beach are beautiful. The beach itself is a bit small but never really felt crowded. Most of the guests had brought their own floats (not I know for next year). We decided to bring our own beach chairs. There are chairs there but some of the other guests had tied their floats to them as a way to claim the chairs for themselves. In my humble opinion I just thought this practice to be rude. That being said every guest we interacted with was polite and friendly. The resort was quiet at night, we had no issues with noise. 
The resort had four kayaks and two paddle boards for the guests to use. There was an employee in launch area to help guest get set up with equipment. Every employee we spoke with was kind and helpful.
The views of the lake and the mountains are spectacular. It is a great property to walk about or sit on a swing and relax. The grounds could use some landscaping here and there but overall, it was litter free.
If you are looking for a relaxing and fun filled family vacation, I think this is a great place to stay and look forward to visiting again.

Relaxing family fun

do not come here whatever you do this place sucks. foreign bugs mauling children on the playground, rude staff, light fixtures falling on peoples heads, poor management, dirty rooms, people who don’t stay here lurking around and breaking into peoples cabins. they do not care for there staff and send them right back into the sun after having a heat stroke and taken into an ambulance and sent to the hospital. the playgrounds are broken. the paddle boats don’t work. this place sucks. overpriced dump. toilets don’t work, broken showers, broken fridge along with the microwave, low water pressure. dirty sheets. disgusting. the staff is unbelievably rude. the young girl working the beach was cursing at these little kids. she yelled at us for no reason. the beach house is also very dangerous because of rotting wood. the pool is always dirty and uncomfortably warm. the arcade doesn’t work. they don’t take any responsibility. random people walking around resulting in the cops being called multiple times. when a girl was showing, this random man broke into the cabin. this has happened multiple times. we’ve been staying here for years and this place has always been a dump. please don’t come here. this place is not safe.

this place sucks

This place has gotten worse, my I tire family got sick from being there. We've all had bad colds for 3 weeks now. It was dirty and staff management was rude. I will never stay there again  there are plenty of other places that I'm sure are much better and cleaner

Bad lodging

14 of us stayed at the Mansion at Depe Dene which only had 4 very old and weak window A/C units... one in the living room and 3 in bedrooms that provide very little relief from any moderate heat. The other 10 rooms (especially the kitchen area) or so didn't have A/C. The temperature was in the high 80's low 90's with very high humidity for the first 4 days of our stay. Realizing that this very old house didn't have adequate A/C we expected screens would be in all windows and sliding doors but to our surprise very few windows had any screens and 1 out of 8 sliding glass doors (that faces the sun all day) had a screen. The 3rd floor bedroom only had a sliding glass door and it didn't have a screen in it...imagine the 3rd floor of a very old house with temperatures in the 90's for 3 days straight and 70's at night how hot it was up there??? The sun beats down on the side of the house that looks at the lake with no shade and the extremely large kitchen window gets the sun from morning until about 3 pm and it doesn't have a shade. the kitchen had to be 100+ for the first 4 days of our stay. I can't believe the owners would rent this place out knowing all of the above exists. Very overpriced to say the least!! We had to purchase screens and other supplies just to get air in this place. Also the house has not been updated in years...the deck in which most people would find to be the focal point has no roof and in need of a makeover. Ants and bees all day. We had to again buy a tent for at least a little shade. For the price for a week rental, you should not stay at the Mansion at Depe Dene...especially during the summer months
