Clean, basic, comfortable excellent accommodations. Was pleasantly surprised for a very unassuming first impression. Highly recommend! Good location, daily service, quiet. Pool closed but we didn’t need. Check in at Rodeway went smoothly.

I wasn't sure what to expect for 89 bucks but it was really a good deal. W The motel is obviously dated but was very clean. You have to check in across the street at the Rodeway Inn. The outdoor pool was covered so we used the indoor pool across the street at Rodeway. There was a continental breakfast with the very basics. I would stay again!

If you're on a budget, stay here!

Clean and comfortable.  We stayed here for a night on a month long East Coast road trip in July and to be honest, the TripAdvisor rating had made me very nervous.  But on arriving at the hotel and for the duration of our stay I was pleasantly surprised.  Check in is across the street at the Roadway and on first observation the Carriage House looked slightly abandoned, however the woman at check in was absolutely lovely and very helpful.  On entering the building and going up to our room, sure it was all dated but it was very, very clean!  Beds comfy, water pressure good, towels tiny, wi fi a little patchy but very, very clean.  Great to be able to sit outside on the balcony while the kids went to sleep.
Pool was across the road at the Rodeway but no big deal and kids loved its novelty factor of the dolphin shaped pool.
Breakfast room was possibly one of the saddest - in the basement at the Rodeway and a limited selection but again the kids loved the pancake machine and overall it was all we needed to get started for the day.
The only niggle was that my card kept stopping working when we tried to use the pool, use the laundry and go for breakfast.  But a quick stop at reception and the lovely lady kept apologising and reprogramming it.  
We would stay here again without question as it was great value for money.

Actually much better than I expected!

If you want a cheap place to stay and do not care about everything looking good and facilities being up to date, then this is the place. Only used the room to crash at night and get cleaned up and it served that purpose well. Check in and breakfast is across the street. Breakfast is in an old room in the basement and there is not a big selection of food. Room was fairly clean and beds were worn but not uncomfortable. Outdoor pool looked decent and up to date.

No frills place to stay at rock bottom price

Worked the overnight shift for Ironman security and just needed a clean place to sleep for a few hours.  Called on Wed to ask how early we could get into our room on Saturday.....clerk said she would indicate early arrival on our reservation.  Yippee!  Stopped at the hotel Fri night before going to work, again to see how early we could get in, as we were working til 8A and would be exhausted in the morning.  Clerk took my name and phone # and said she would call if a room became available before noon.  Around 9A Sat morning clerk called to tell me the hotel was oversold and there was no room for me.  What??  Ridiculous!  I booked my room through the Lake Placid.com website, so I marched downtown to the ROOST (Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism....like the Chamber of Commerce for Lake Placid) office at the Arena to complain.  Angela and Sharron listened to my complaint and apologized profusely, even though this wasn't their fault.  Angela managed to find another room available immediately at  a different hotel and we made the reservation over the phone.  Apparently, the computer program LakePlacid.com uses to book rooms requires the hotels to  confirm with the customer.  Carriage House did not send me any confirmation, yet when I called and visited, they had a record of my reservation.  They just never removed the room from their inventory.  Either way, bad business practice....makes the ROOST people look bad, and makes their hotel look even worse.  So, I never got to stay at the Carriage House....it did look kind of run down and old from the outside, and the going across the street to check in at the Rodeway was  kind of goofy.  A disappointment all the way around....even moreso because I had worked all night and just wanted a place to sleep.

Horrible Experience!

We registered for our room at about 4 PM.  When we tried to get into our room the key card wouldn't work.  The desk clerk came over and couldn't make our key card or a new one work.  She was able to open the door with " her master key card"  She told us she would have a repair man come right over .  We also asked if the pool was open  (It was covered)  She said yes and the repair man would uncover it for us.  An hour later no repair man.  We called again and was told he would be right over and yes the pool would be uncovered.   another half hour no repair man so we uncovered the pool and enjoyed a swim.  Still no repair man.   We wanted to go out to dinner but didn't want to leave our room open, so we ordered in.  Still no repair man.

We were traveling with two other families and they both had problems with their key cards, but eventually were given ones that worked.

Next morning at Check out still no repair man .  No apology for the poor service and with the inconvenience I feel we should have had a discount.  No discount!

The room was clean and adequate, but I wouldn't recommend this place!

Poor service

I had a very nice stay. It was very peaceful and the room was spacious and clean. It had all the usual amenities - tv, fridge, hair dryer. The building is showing a little age but was great for that area. The outside door was unlocked all night so that probably wasn't supposed to happen (I didn't need the swipe key for the building entrance and I was packing my car at 4 am for a long hike.) But I would definitely stay there again. Overall, a great stay.

Nice and peaceful

A large clean room but very dated  which was fine with me. The outside could use some sprucing up. Check in is across tje street at the Rodeway Inn as is the pool. The price for the area was good. Close to the lacrosse field we were going to.

Dated but clean

So I was Nervous when I first booked this hotel, because I usually stay in Hilton’s. It was close to the ski jumps where we were going for an event. The price was good and like most places inLake Placid are a 2 night minimum, this was a 1 night min. The hotel rooms are outdated but the room was clean. I also liked that there was a sliding glass door so u could just walk out to your car to bring things in. The pool is across the street, we didn’t get to use it because of time. I would prob. Stay here again 

Simple hotel

Old hotel that needed to be specially renovated carpets. There was a bad smell of moisture in our room, dusty, the towels smelled bad but clean. The site is generally clean, the outdoor pool clean. Lunch is rather ordinary. The staff is polite. We found the price high for what we had. Our room was right on the side of the road which is very busy. Noisy site during the weekend because of motorcycles.
