What should have been a great fishing trip turned out to be a nightmare! Arrived at Lake Palestine Motor Inn 02/12/24, ready for a good night sleep. Shortly after retiring for sleep, the room above had a different idea for us, the noise from a remodel job started about 8 pm and when on until 6:30am!! From moving furniture across hard floors to dropping items, walking and talking loud, use of a saw started at 3:00am the noise was endless! So desperate for sleep, I called the number listed for desk, no answer and no sleep! Also, the temp outside was in 30’s no blankets only a sheet on the bed to cover for warmth. Heater was either hot or too cool!!
We were forced to end our fishing trip from lack of sleep. Traveled over 2 1/2 hrs.,for this 
Nightmare! Spoke to Manage, he was not in the least concerned about our dilemma!

Sleepless at Lake Palestine Motor Inn

I am a Pastor and called office to find my Brother with mental illness, not knowing the room number he was staying in. The MGR? or person at the office was SOO RUDE AND GOT VERY LOUDED WITH ME when I told him my brother's name and asked for the room to be rang! He raised his drunken? high? voice and screamed at me if I don't know the room number, he would not call it for me. I did not ask the room number but only for a little help. This man was the rudest clown I have ever tried to speak with in my life. I am at a loss for words! 

Very Rude

The couple who own the place were very friendly.  They said they've been there 14 years.  The room was very clean (and smelled clean).  Vinyl flooring instead of carpet which is a huge plus.  A/C blows cold. The TV, microwave and fridge all in good working order.   I loved that it still had the original wood baseboards and wood doors.   The room was large and not over crowded.  The bed was surprisingly comfortable.  The coffee pot was just adorable.  I don't think I've ever seen one with a metal pot in a motel before.  The exterior of the property was clean and well kept.  They even had a covered area with tables and a grill by the office.  Lots of folks stayed the night was there but it was overall very quiet. 

 The only problems with the room were there were broken electrical outlets and missing outlet covers on several of the outlets.  Something so cheap and easy to fix being over looked is a shame for the other wise adorable little place.  I would most definitely stay here again.

Cute and quiet little place

Clean, comfortable, nice staff. Good value. Recommended. Pet friendly. Only $5 a night for our little dog. Keep expectations reasonable for what it is and you'll be OK. Only real complaint was they say breakfast included. "Breakfast" was coffee and cheap wrapped snack cakes.

Good hotel in a good location.

Perfect spot. Conviently located. Office clerk super nice. Rooms clean. I did notice the cat smell people mention but only in office. Lots of plug ins if you need to charge boat batteries. I'd definately stay here again

Fishing trip

Rooms were clean, I believe air conditioner could have been cleaner. We decided to stay another night because  I was with my 76 year old mother, not in the best of health (congestive heart disease), we were all tired from the previous days travel. The first night we were downstairs, requested because of health. when we requested another night (it was at the last minute)  we were told we had to move upstairs. At first I wanted to leave and go to another hotel.  But at our location the choices were limited. Temp was 103. We stayed another night. but we had to haul all of our belongings up a very narrow flight of stairs, and any time our little dog had to go we had to go up and down the stairs, handicap and all. I am disabled due to back and neuropathy in legs. When we got upstairs to our room I could not find my phone. When we went back to look for it housekeeping had already been there and said it was not there. I had to purchase another. The owners were pleasant, the room had recently been painted, and the hotel is conveniently located. 
Front office did not smell like cat urine. The rooms did not have pet odors.

Front office smelled like cat urine, wanted to gag. Ugh! Terrible and nasty. One thing though it is convenient to Lake and resort. I wouldnt recommend it to anyone because its really kinda nasty. Flies in the room to.

Nasty

I would never stay at this place again the rooms are nasty all you smell is pet odor. If you want a family friendly place this is not it all that was there was alcoholics and people that look like they were high on something and the manager and housekeepers are very rude. Worse place to stay.
