I was very hesitant in staying in Livonia because of the size of the town.  It seems like they are doing renovation as the office had lots of dust, which made me really hesitant.  It was late and I was tired, so I decided to stay.  The room was clean and it was very quiet at night.  In the morning when I went to check out, I met the owner and found out that they had just purchased the hotel.  All-in-all, I was pleased with my stay.  I would definitely recommend and wish the new owners good luck.

Simple and Clean

Other reviews warned of roaches. We spent the night and not one in sight in rm 111. Other reviews also warned about difficulties getting someone to check them in. I believe this us still an issue, as the cook at diner next door is also motel front desk. They do have help wanted sign out. We lucked out and the cook was just walking into motel office door when we arrived. She had us wait a minute to make sure room was clean and honored our request for ground floor. Yes, the room had odd smell, but, hey, the rate was only $48 plus tax, and the carpet looks new. There is coffee, micro and frig, foodnext door, convience store for beer, so all in all, I'm relieved and pleased by the one night stay. The travel lodge motel to the east that gets better reviews was full. I dud water earplugs to diminish train whistle sounds.

Not as scary as expected...

Oneshal was great, she was do helpful and friendly. The room was very clean and roomy.  Penny's diner  was so cute and the food was good. We loved the employees, they kept us entertained the entire time.

i will stay there again.

NEGATIVE STARS IF I COULD!!!   Can you spell "S - - - L- - - O - - - W"???  Waited more than 20 minutes for the daily special. Finally the lone cook walks by and says, "Yours is up next."  We waited 10 more minutes.  I could see her prepping our baskets when she reached for the giant economy size mayo there at the flattop.  She unscrewed the lid, then leaned over and stuck her nose down in the mouth of the jar and drew back, shaking her head! Damned if she didn't then reach IN the jar and proceed to slather the stuff on the bun in her hand. That did it!  We walked out the door, hungry, but grateful to be alive!  Save yourself the time and effort.

Penny's SUCKS!

Had a pretty terrible experience on a stopover at this motel.
We arrived around 10pm to find the reception locked,there was a phone on the wall with instructions to call if there was nobody there.Tried several times got no answer.
Other guests informed us that the staff also ran the diner across the parking lot and that they were always in there.
So we went in and the woman cooking in the diner said she would be over shortly.
Ten minutes or so later she turned up checked my booking information then said there was no room for us,despite me having my confirmation with me.
To cut a long story short we stood for over half an hour while she rifled through piles of paperwork several times before eventually phoning someone to finally arrange a room for us.
I then was informed I would have to pay for the room with a credit card to secure the booking,despite me having paid in advance and having paperwork to prove it.
I had no option but to make the payment as it was late,we were tired and there were no other options.
The woman then let us into the room with a masterkey as the keycard system wasn`t working,so we weren`t provided with keys.
It was probably over an hour from first arriving to actually getting into the room.
The room itself was acceptable for a one night stopover.
Next morning we found there was only one towel between 4 of us.So down to reception,nobody there,over to the diner,told to wait at the reception till someone was available to come over and provide us with towels,got the towels,got showered and thankfully got out of the place.
After complaining to Venere,who we booked the room through, I was reimbursed two weeks later for the extra payment taken by the motel.
Avoid!!
