Since the resort bought the lodge, I think it went downhill.

Breakfast is no longer included. The place is basic. If you are look8mg for a budget hotel in Sugarbush, it’s fine. Don’t expect much 

Only if I’m desperate will I return

Disappointed 

Better than expected for the price. Safe, clean, comfortable. Very good for an overnight stay all things considered. Don’t expect luxurious accommodations but there is a nice lobby with coffee, tea, water, fireplace. All in all would return.

Good enough

The lodge is located a couple of minutes drive from the ski area.

Property is clean and well kept. Beds were ok. So far so good.

To the cons.

Very thin walls, if you stay on lower floor you will hear every footstep from room above, heating makes noises all night long.

Resort fee for no amenities.

Needless to say I would not stay again.

Avoid at all cost

Overpriced. No cleaning service. No USB charging nor enough outlets in the room. Bathroom and room furniture outdated. Had to ask for clean towels and garbage bags. No ice in the facility on day 1.  Not enough parking. To call this a ‘resort’ is a joke.

Sugarbush Lodge

My daughter and I stayed at the lodge for 3 nights last week. Given the Covid restrictions most of the hotel's common areas were closed - e.g. the sitting area with the fireplace and the restaurant. Therefore, it is hard for me to assess what it would be like to stay there during 'normal' times. We just needed a place to sleep. The room was clean with a comfortable bed. it was also very quiet so we could get a good night's sleep. The hotel is extremely well located - only a short distance from Sugarbush mountain. The staff is extremely friendly.

Rustic lodge for pandemic getaway

Friendly & accommodating staff presenting a good value < 2 mins drive to Sugarbush’s Lincoln Peak.  The place is well-maintained, but badly, badly needs an some investment from the owners. The beds feel like a pile of cardboard, the pillows may be airplane freebies, and the tissues will give you a paper-cut. Little things like the bathroom exhaust fan were broken, but that could have been an exception. Continental Breakfast was decent, enough to get you through your first run.

Nice people, but needs an update

We stayed at the lodge last week(4 adults) and found the facilities very very good. Its location is excellent for the ski runs.
Owners were most helpful in recommending restaurants,skiing etc.
The rooms were kept very clean.
Very good value for money.

Family ski trip

The Sugarlodge was everything we needed for a family ski trip over the holidays. Basic clean rooms, inviting common area, reasonable rates, helpful staff, bagels/muffins/cereal/coffee to get the day started and only a couple minute drive up to Sugarbush base lodge.
There is also great access to excellent food and Vermont craft beer in the area.

Rustic lodge perfect for ski trip

My family stayed at the Sugar Lodge for three nights around Christmas. We chose the hotel for its location near Sugarbush Resort - it's close to the main part of the resort and Mt. Ellen (and Mad River Glen). The main public area in the hotel is a great room near the front desk that's dominated by a large fireplace. It's a cozy place to hang out in the evenings and play board games. It's also where you eat breakfast (included). I would describe our room with two full-sized beds as utilitarian - clean and well-kept but nothing fancy. Staff was polite, helpful and knowledgeable about skiing and local restaurants. Town of Waitsfield is about 10 minutes away with restaurants, movies, etc. Overall, I'd say the Sugar Lodge is a good value close to skiing and a good choice for families with children.

Family Ski Trip

My husband and I came to Sugar Lodge for our trip skiing at Sugarbush. Everything was clean and cozy, hospitality was great! Very family-friendly and quiet, away from the bustle of the resort but very close to the slopes and restaurants. Breakfast was available, complimentary lockers for ski equipment, microwave, fridge, open bar with happy hours in the evening, common area with fireplace was quite cozy for a cup of hot tea and a good book in the evenings. We will definitely stay here again if we come back to ski. Highly recommended, especially for families or couples looking to get away from the busy atmosphere of the resort.
