We have stayed at the Scottish inn in Maggie Valley yearly for the past 5-6 years.  The first time was purely because it was the first that came up to call. The previous times have been because we truly enjoy our experience each year!  We have gotten to know the owners as the years have progressed and look forward to each summer when we get to go to Maggie Valley.  The rooms are always clean, the beds are very comfortable and the owner makes extra effort to make sure we have everything we need! Rooms are quiet and do not have thin walls!  The coffee is the best coffee I have had at any hotel!. Carport parking for the motorcycle is an added bonus.  Each year there are new updates and we look forward to next year to see what has been added.

Yearly getaway

Stayed at the Scottish Inn with my sisters. I liked the room with the 3 beds because there we 3 of us, and we each had a bed. We called it the 3 bears Inn. Pretty clean, could be updated, but all in all a pretty nice place to stay.

Location
Right on  the main road in Maggie Valley, so you will have significant road noise, ESPECIALLY from all the motorcycles, mainly the Harleys.

Condition
It's  an older Motel, but the have Vinyl plank flooring, a BIG plus for the older motel.
Bathrooms are small, with a fan/light combo that is noisy.
Room is large, with a smaller TV than usual
Pillows are about the worst, low end.

Suggestions
Start improving when you can, from repainting where needed to replacing some older doors etc.

I would stay again, but at the back of the hotel away from the road


Decent for an Older Motel- Would stay again

Due to the late reservation, this was the only place that had any rooms open. It has hard wood floors, which I’ve never seen at a hotel before. So far it seems clean and adequate. I had a problem with the remote which they fixed right away, so great customer service so far. The only discrepancy so far is a hole in the curtain.

Although we made reservations far in advance--and there were MANY vacant rooms when we arrived, we were given a room with a CRACKED sink, which also did not drain, and was built so low it appeared to be for a midget!  Also--there were no hooks or bars to hang towels--and NO place for putting bathroom necessities, aside from a tiny glass shelf. One chair, no desk--- BARE, faux wood floors, and tho nicely repainted recently--very depressing dark grey walls, purple bath...it WAS a very clean place.  For the price, there are over 100 places to choose from in the area--I 'll try elsewhere next time.

I stayed in the Scottish Inn- Maggie Valley, NC on Sunday Sept. 3. I paid with my bank debit card. Upon getting to my room (#18) I checked my banking app as I was double checking my balance. I noticed that I had 4 "Pending" charges for 1 room! Returning to the office and the same girl working at it, I explained that I was charged 4 time. She told me because they are only pending she couldn't do anything to correct the problem. After her only saying, "it won't go through" I left upset knowing I would be charged.
Upon returning home and checking my balance Monday 09/04/2023, guess what?
I WAS CHARGED FOR THE ROOM 4 TIMES!!
I called the motel and spoke to the same girl and told her I wanted to speak to the owner. I was told "All I have is a General Manger.  I was transferred to Mr. Paul Patel. After tell him of my being billed for 4 nights instead of 1 and telling him I wanted a $270.96 refund for the overcharge. (yes I'm very upset at this point) and even sending him a PHOTO with proof of it I was told many "it's pending, it's pending" and having PROOF that its taken out, again told I was told It's pending  I am out $270.96 (i have a photo showing the money was take  out 4 times!!) Mr. Patel convinced me to wait 48 hours to show that the $270.96 would be returned to me. I'm now out $270.96 waiting. I will admit I am more than a little upset by the way this is being handled by Mr. Patel. He had a photo for my banking info SHOWING the charge was placed 4 time and still telling me "It's Pending" NO it was NOT,  it WAS taken out. Mr. Patel made me feel as I was lying to him. He had a photo and still telling "it's pending"!! Also when I asked him to call me when I would be getting MY REFUND
Mr. Paul Patel, told me he "I have better things to do than to call you" when I asked him to verify my money would be returned.

RUN AWAY FROM HERE!

the worse place my family had stayed at  back  in march of 2018 the maid was very rude she stayed drunk and had made racial slur towards my daughter the management did nothing about it untill after we had left. the people who own the motel and ran it also did not allow pets of any kind not even service animals

I have stayed in a few different hotels in the area over the years.  This was by far the worst!!!! Floors were filthy, accidentally spilled a bottle of water and immediately wiped it up...rag was very dirty from floor filth.  Toilet had not been cleaned. Room needed aired out, smelled stale. W-ifi signal almost nonexistent, could not use internet. Was not sure if bedding had been changed. Found someone's clothes still in dresser. Although their webpage says remodeled...it's been a LOOOOONNNNNNNG time!

Not at all what I expect in a hotel :-(

Checked in on a Friday night even called to say I wouldn't be there till about 9. When we got there gave them my name like you do when you have a reservation which I did have. She said only had one room left which I should have thought odd since I had a reservation already. Gave me a different price and I let them know that is not the price we discussed on the phone. Anyways when I returned home I noticed in my bank that they charged me twice for to different amounts. Called them first they said they didn't then they said that I didn't tell them I had a reservation. So that was the excuse for charging me twice?  Really people gave you my name and everything and even called to say I was going to be later. Finally after having to email a statement from my bank they said they refunded my money they emailed me a refund slip but still not in my bank. They were trying to say this was all my fault that they charged me twice. Unbelievable! The rooms were also smelly and not updated as they say on their message. Bathroom sink is made for children down so low. Manager would not even talk to me. Never again wish I could call a cooperate office and complain but cant find it.
