We were in Bethel for a wedding and stayed at the Rostay for 2 days. It was very clean and very quiet - a delightful place to stay. The decor is charming and warm - lots of knotty pine paneling and warm colors. The bathroom is not  modern, but very roomy. Huge closet space. The bed was extremely comfortable. We had a table and two chairs, which you don't often find. We appreciated it as we had traveled a long way and had a cooler with us for our own food. All rooms open onto an outside porch. There is a nice gazebo if the weather is warm enough, and an outside jacuzzi (too cold for us). A very pleasant woods behind the hotel, and the ability to walk a pretty path to the nearby 1888 House if you happen to be there for a celebration. The motel looks very humble from the outside - don't let that fool you - it's a really lovely place to stay. I highly recommend it. 

Lovely place to stay

Itch  had the the nerve to call me a sumbag for not knowin hotel charger per person. Not room like mind u room is a double I get that point of bringing a party but I was wit my 2 kids and wife and dog mind u didn’t see no sign sayin there no dog Allowed and when I got there there was a another guest wit a dog and mind u she had a dog wit her but since she the owner it’s ok like worse service instead of being polite no idiot wanna talk all this doo doo wonder y  there Dudu was empty makes sense like tv size of my hand like instead of talkin dudu about who I bring out that energy to fixin up the place

I am a scumbag

My husband & I were taking a day trip to hike in the White Mountains of Stow, Maine & I jotted down several motels in the area to stay at for the night.  I decided on this one & it did not disappoint.  It was super clean, cozy, & inexpensive.  The bed was comfy & the blankets were soooooo soft!  I love pillows & there were a ton!  I literally could have stayed there for weeks.  Very nice woman at the desk, I believe her name was Tanya. We walked over to Pete's Griddle across the street & had a fabulous dinner & breakfast was available in their very nice dining area.  Everything about our stay there was noteworthy. I have never been more comfortable at any motel room I have ever stayed at.  I cannot come up with one complaint.  If we are ever in the area again, I will surely be staying there!

A HIDDEN GEM!!!

This hotel was a bit of a mixed bag.  I wasn't expecting perfection given the price, and it wasn't, but it was decent for the price.  The room was fairly clean, but it was clear they weren't spending much on maintaining the place.  Overall, though, I would stay here again if in the area for some reason.

Shower: Like an old camp shower - bad shower head
Hard water: Probably not? Hard to tell with that shower
HVAC: Wall AC unit/baseboard
Location: Fine, I guess?  North of town.
Noise: Loud if anything is happening in the next room, highway noise
Staff: Very friendly
Cost/Value: Least expensive of trip

Good for the Price

Our spots for the Tough Mountain Challenge at Sunday River had been purchased back in 2019 when we had not expected to rent our house in Bethel for the summer. So we found ourselves needing to book something for that weekend. We’ve been driving by The Rostay for so many years and they were the only play with rooms by the time we called. What a gem! The place is so cute. We were in the deluxe motel room which had the amenities you’d need for a weekend and was very clean. The owners were super friendly and welcoming. We were able to arrive late; they left the keys for us, and left extra towels for the kids. Being able to get hot breakfast on site is a nice plus. It really is well located between the mountain, town, and Rt. 2. Will definitely recommend to friends and would stay again. Thanks Rostay :)

Wonderful visit!

I was traveling on a long camping road trip with my 5 year old and was too exhausted to make it to a campsite that I had planned, so I quickly searched something local and found this gem.  I had booked it quickly on my phone and had only seen queen beds available, but upon checking, they gladly upgraded my room to a full/queen (I can't remember) with a bunk bed, so that my kid could sleep separately - which I desperately needed lol.  Then we left his favorite stuffed animal on the top bunk and they were kind enough to ship it for free back to Florida.  If you want a personalized stay with friendly staff, I would highly recommend here.

Perfect Stay/Very Thoughtful Staff

My grandchildren and I made an impromptu stay in Bethel. We were directed to the Rostay by a local.  The Rostay is a retro, roadside motel.  It was super clean,  comfortable, and quiet for sleeping.  The staff was very welcoming, and nice.  We will definitely stay again.

Perfect family b-n-b. The rooms are cozy and the breakfast is great. The owners are on site if you need anything. They are accommodating and gracious. Laundry facilities on site. It's just at the town entrance. Central, about 15 mins from Sunday River, 1.5 hours to Portland, new hampshire, vermont, and canada. 30 mins to bowling, Walmart, casino.

Great hidden gem

The room was spotless! The customer service stupendous! The location can’t be any better in town!( dining, gas station, ski slopes are sooo close!)
The rates won’t break the bank- which allows my family to come back every weekend! See you on the slopes!!

It seemed strange that the “checking” was on a text. “Key’s in the room. “. Woke in the nite and the mattress had folded around my husband. No refreshments but a real nice natural health food store. Very clean cv rooms.
