Short but sweet.  I was out of bed like Christmas morning to watch the sunrise.  Brilliant view.  Kayaking, paddle boarding and swimming.  The end of the long dock offered water deep enough to jump, dive and cannon ball.  I wish we had pictures of my husband and I in action ... in our 70's.  The walk into town was sweet and the town never disappoints.

Wish it had been a longer stay

The best thing about the room: luxurious towels; the worst: the bathroom sink. There’s NO room to put a shaving kit and health/beauty items. My wife’s curling iron barely fit. So our items had to go on the table, which meant we had no place to eat. There was not much room to move around. Good thing we didn’t need the A/C—the plug was on an adjacent wall, which was the only place to put our luggage under the hangar rack so as not to block/damage the baseboard heaters. The shower pressure was strong. There was no TV channel printout, and no on-screen guide, so we had no clue what we could watch. I know the area is known for outdoor recreation, but when you’re stuck inside because of a storm, a printed guide would be helpful. There is another Chalet being built next to it; we will NOT return to see if it’s any better.

First of all,  I have to say the Moosehead lake region is beautiful and my wife and I spent our time exploring the area, enjoying the Lake and the surrounding mountains.   What caused this to be a bad experience at Chalet Moosehead was an additional charge for a 3rd night  because of  a problem with Chalet Mooseheads internet reservation services .  It was brought to the owners attention and she assured us she would reimburse our credit card  for the 3rd night if we removed the charge dispute we started with our credit card company. We did this in good faith, but when the credit card company deposited funds in her bank account she still refused to reimburse us. After multiple attempts requesting payment, they will no longer respond to our calls or email, this started August 2022, it is now April 2023. You just don't treat people like this...
 
 

A very bad experience

Perfect getaway located right in the center of town.Owners we’re fantastic super clean rooms.

Left our vehicle, parked at the hotel, and was able to walk all around town.

Go there for the location. Just unbeatable. Our room was pretty basic and the walls paperthin, but we had a balcony with perfect views of the sunset over the lake.

One general observation and the reasons for three stars: in all the places we stayed this year (bnb or hotel) they told us that due to CDC recommendations and/ or staff shortages they would not service the room. While I do understand their dilemma and do not mind to make my own bed, put out the garbage, have only one towel for three days and go to reception to ask for everything, I am a little astonished about
A) they do not even think about giving you a discount, since they do not deliver what you pay for, or give you a complimentary bottle of wine or anything. But instead
B) they display big signs and envelopes in the room and ask for tips. Tips for a service you do yourselves? Seriously?

That is a form of ripoff that I really do not like. I think, places that behave like this will feel, that customers do remember.

Great views, bad service

We love Chalet Moosehead. We stay there as often as we can, usually for a family reunion  It has always been a beautiful location: a green lawn with sitting areas overlooking lake; lots of beautiful wildflowers and wild life; swimming and fishing from the dock. Since Leslie and Grant bought the property, it is becoming more and more of a paradise. We were very nervous about traveling during this pandemic, but we had already cancelled our reunion in 2020, and Leslie was able to calm our worries and even able to accommodate my recent knee surgery and my sister-in-law, who is wheel chair bound.  The older section of the Chalet is being renovated and I can't wait to return to see the finished product.

Chalet Moosehead Is Our Safe Place

For the $$ we spent, more than $150/night, I expected a little bit more. We only stayed the one night. Perhaps some of my concerns could have been resolved had we spent multiple nights. The office is not in the building with the rooms. They are 200' or more apart on separate driveways. Nor is the office manned except from 3 - 8pm. When we checked in however there was no one in the office. A small child, 5?, came out and went to get her mommy. We were given the key and directed how to get to the room. There is an office number, but knowing I would be calling a family residence at 5:30 in the morning, we chose not to do it. There is no communal space in the rooms building, no vending machines, no ice machine. . 

Our room, #28, had two queen size beds, a small table, two chairs, a dresser with drawers. The dresser top was not usable for personal items as the large TV was on it. There was one luggage rack, about 2' of clothing rod installed on the wall  beside one bed, 3 hangers, no closet. A refrigerator, small coffee maker, no microwave. There were two chairs and a small table out on the balcony.

PROS: Beautiful view of lake. Easy to find. Beds very comfortable. Plenty of hot water. Plenty of towels. Exceptionally clean.

CONS: Bathroom is very small. The single sink offers virtually no counter space. Nor is there any other surface in the bathroom to accommodate personal toiletry items i.e. medications, make-up, toothbrushes, hair brush, etc. The window in this bathroom was along the outside walkway connecting the units. There was no shade installed. We did find a shade the next morning under the sink with a hair dryer. Wished I had found it the previous night.

There is no mirror in the room. 

The small coffee maker is the type that has it's coffee prepackaged in a special little tray. There were 4 packages, 2 regular, 2 decafe. The timing of our return to the room. late, and our early rising in the AM made calling the office number for more coffee seem like it would have been an intrusion.  (This probably could be worked out if you were staying multiple nights.)

There was no tea.

Hotel abuts a local road. Noisy at times, especially in the morning.

Missing a few things..

My husband and I stated for 2 days! beautiful  on the water and very romantic.   Very clean which is a 10 in my book.  the owner was a very nice man and the staff were very helpful. The views were beautiful.

Absolutely one of the best views available.  Quiet and peaceful yet easily accessible to restaurants and activities.  The room as net needs clean.  Would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful setting

The Chalet Moosehead Lakefront Lodging was a great place to stay in the Greenville/Moosehead Lake region. Our room was on the second floor and we had a great view of the lake. The lawn with the Adirondack chairs was a peaceful way to end the day, looking out over the water and watching the sunset. The hotel was close to downtown, restaurants and activities. We can’t wait to go back.
